I torn between placing it in dystopian fiction prompt or featuring mythology prompt #52booksreadingchallenge
5/5 for the first in this trilogy. I really enjoyed this book. Delilah‘s story was so unique. I loved monsters that look like humans. I just felt so bad for them in cages. I cannot wait to read the next one.

I‘m a fan of w/e Rachel writes, and this was no different. Combining several things I love -paranormal creatures, a circus setting and social injustice, there was pretty much no way this could go wrong for me. The only trouble with first books in a series, is if done right (it was) the author has to pay more attention to world building and character depth than the storyline so it suffered slightly there. Still I can‘t wait to read the next one!
You could call the cryptids in this book a #MonsterMash. After visiting a traveling carnival and witnessing abuse of an “attraction,” Delilah finds out she‘s not as human as she thought. Now she‘s become apart of the carnival “attractions” joining mermaids, Minotaurs, gryphons, and kelpies to name a few. Delilah is determined to free herself as well as her fellow cryptids. #OctoberXFiles

#Audiobook #Review: Menagerie by Rachel Vincent with @RecordedBooks. This dark fantasy was a blend of mythology and horror set in the backdrop of a cruel and unusual carnival like you've never seen before.⠀

#TBRtemptation post 3! This is the 1st installment in the YA Menagerie series. When Delilah visits a famous traveling carnival, she discovers a fierce clawed creature under her human veneer. She's captured and put on display. As they travel, she'll befriend her companions--her handler, mermaids, minotaurs, gryphons, kelpies. She'll struggle for her and their freedom and discover what she's capable of achieving. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
This book was dark and different from fantasy I usually read but I really enjoyed reading it!
Since I'm reading the second book in this series, my pick is going to have to be Gallagher for #WhattaMan. It really doesn't have to do with any physical attraction to him, but man would I want him on my side! He's loyal, protective, and his word is his honor. #90sInJuly
Nothing I love more than my puppy Juno and a great book! Such a fun read from start to finish. So many different and amazing characters and I liked having the different perspective with some of the chapters. I can't wait to see what happens next for Metzger's Menagerie.
Thanks again for recommending @Amanda23 💕
"I'd had nothing to eat but soggy bread in at least fifteen hours."
Really digging this book. My hubby and I started the Keto diet which means limited carbs and no starch or grains. But I came across Keto bread recipe made with almond flour. It turned out great and the taste and texture is so satisfying. Feels good to have a substitute to go with my eggs, bacon and avocado. ?????
Sleepy girl. 💕
Thanks @Amanda23 for passing this book on. I'll make sure to get it back to the library in time. #nolatefees
Yeah. #bookmail if the I paid for variety. I probably shouldn't have bought books before opening my #summersantagoespostal but I deserved a little pick me up. Now I just have to find time to read them.
Wow!! What an amazing read! I loved all the mythological beasties in this. I could not put this book down.
Finished it this morning and had to wait a whole 2 hours before the library opened so I could get Spectacle. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This is SUPER interesting. I'm really liking it a lot.
While visiting a traveling menagerie, Delilah discovers she herself isn't completely human and gets sold to said menagerie.
Dark, a bit of fantasy, and a strong female MC? I'm in.
This is a favorite of mine with a genuinely unique storyline, great characters, and a couple of reveals toward the end that take my breath away. The Cryptid characters that are part of the Menagerie are easy to love and connect with-even though they are the supposed "monsters". And Delilah and Gallagher are fascinating; no spoilers to what their roles eventually are, but: LOVE.
The audio narrated by Gabra Zackman is so great! I highly recommend.
I can't say enough about how much I loved this book! A dark fantasy novel set in a world not too different than ours, except for the known presence of Cryptids! Fae, Centaurs, Succubi and many other species are deemed dangerous by the human world, which enables them to be exploited at the Menagerie. SO GOOD! Netflix, this should be a series for sure!
