The main story was well done, but its connection with other events is left as the subject of an ominous cliffhanger, which left me feeling cheated so I won't be continuing. Borderline So-So and Pan because of that.

Day 19 - #Top20Series #20Days20Series
#PromiseFallsSeries #LinwoodBarclay
This is a great series with lots of twists and turns.
In the town of Promise Falls, long-hidden secrets are about to haunt the residents—as the sins of the past and present collide with terrifying results.
It seems I'm in the minority with this one. The story started out well, with promise but truthfully, overall it was a disappointing read. The inhabitants of Promise Falls were quirky enough but dull narration and repetitive writing just put me off that I barely finished. I won't be continuing with this series. ⭐️⭐️ Book 5/20 of the May #bookspinbonanza 📚 @TheAromaofBooks
At the start of this novel I was getting distracted by too many storylines which seemed to have no connection. Ultimately evolved in to a fun mystery with more in the series to come.
Decent book. 1st by this author. He left some unanswered questions ,so I‘ll definitely read the next. I can‘t resist a trilogy. 😬
It was ok. I enjoy the ease of reading a Linwood Barclay book but I could see the plot points coming a mile off. Have the second of the trilogy lined up regardless.
I'm reading in bed. This is a novelty. Life is slowly returning to normal after 2 years of student life and reading quite frankly boring stuff!
This was a #blameitonlitsy although really it should be #thankslitsy And more specifically thanksyou @Andrew65 totally forgotten how much I used to enjoy Linwood Barclay novels and this is a cracker. Great small town politics, a horrific crime and enough unsavoury folks to have you casting around for the guilty party. Off to pick up part two because what is a holiday for if not binge reading!
The first book in the excellent Promise Falls Trilogy can currently be picked up for 99p in the U.K. that is a real bargain for this book. I plan to get to the final part of the trilogy next week and can‘t wait to see how it all plays out.
I really enjoyed this. There were a few different storylines, but not all were wrapped up by the end. I did know this was a series, so I expect those will be finished up in further books. Barclay‘s books are told from different points of view, but we are told at the start of each chapter whose POV we are following (or most chapters, anyway). As usual, there are twists in the book
As you would expect from Linwood Barclay some excellent plotting and a book that moves along at a pace, with some unexpected twists thrown in. Certainly could not have guessed the eventual outcome of this book. Took a bit longer than usual to get going for his books but that may be because it is the first book in a trilogy. I want to see where Linwood Barclay takes this, so straight onto book 2. If you like good mysteries I would recommend this.
I‘m listening to Broken Promise as a reminder, before going on to read books 2 and 3 in the Promise Falls Trilogy.
Starting Broken Promise by Linwood Barclay....love his books!
Started reading Broken Promise. As is usual with Linwood Barclay books got me interested in the plot straight away, and hooked after the first few chapters. I now need to know what is going on and will wait for the twists!
Took four books back to the library tonight, Thursday is the only night they are open after 5.00. This left me with 5 library books out so had no intention of getting anymore books out. So can someone explain how I arrived home with these 4 books! 😂😳😊😍😬📚
Absolutely Amazing.. Linwood Barclay is awesome..
5/5..
It was hard to put down, so many twists & I was constantly OMG-ing!! I love books that make you think ahead to what's gonna happen, and I was right in a couple things..
I also enjoyed reading about each character & can't wait to see what happens next..
Almost finished Broken Promise, downloaded the next one in the series.. So excited.. 😁
Now that I've finished Filthy Rich by James Patterson, I'm back to reading just the one book..
Can't wait to really get into Broken Promise.. There's quite a few different things going on in Promise Falls & it's great getting to know all the characters..
I'm a little late with this one, busy day yesterday..
1. Watch Me (Whip/Nae) by Silento.. My 4 year old son has it stuck in his head too, it's rubbed off..
2. I'm really really enjoying it so far..
3. Not sure, but it's gotta be one by Lesley Pearse..
4. No idea which litten to tag..
#trivialthursday.. @GarthRanzz.. 😊
I'm really enjoying this one.. It is a page turner & has me hooked already.. Just wish I had more hours in the day to read.. 😂
Oooh I keep seeing these #tripletuesday type pics but don't know how to get the image for myself so I can take part.. Anyone help?? 😊
I've decided to start reading another book..
I'm finding my current read, #FilthyRich by #JamesPatterson a little hard to keep at due to the topic of the book.. It IS very well written, and so far has been eye opening & interesting but I need a break from it every now and again..
#BrokenPromise by #LinwoodBarclay should fill my reading time & keep me from looking for extra housework.. 😂😂😂
A pick for how well it sets in place all of the threads we will be following through the rest of the trilogy. I also enjoyed seeing characters from other Promise Falls books in these pages. Looking forward to reading Far from True.
Sleep? Who needs sleep? I won't be getting much until I read the last page. #sleepdeprivedbibliophile #linwoodbarclay
Reading first part of trilogy after coworker recommended.
