The Collected Poems
The Collected Poems | Robert Frost
No poet is more emblematically American than Robert Frost. Hailed as 'the most eminent, the most distinguished Anglo-American poet' by T.S. Eliot, he is the only writer in history to have been awarded four Pulitzer Prizes. In iconic poems like 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening', simple images summon the rural landscape of New England, and Frost unfailingly moves the reader with his profound grasp of the human condition. This is the most comprehensive and authoritative volume of Frost's verse available, comprising all eleven volumes of his poems, meticulously edited by Edward Connery Lathem.

Mending Walls by Robert Frost.

One neighbour sees no reason for the wall to be kept, the other simply says “Good fences make good neighbors.”

Bookishthoughts I really enjoy Frost. From his writting he seems like his a keeper of forgtten things. He was a visual writer, so I've read. When I read his work, I see the tree or watchman he was staring at, they'd other wise would have been forgotten. 💛 11mo
IndoorDame @LazyDays I really like him too! Last month I picked up an illustrated copy of his work put out by Barnes and nobles that has stark pencil drawings of his trees and country cottages on lots of the pages. It‘s been really nice to read out of it. 11mo

The Road Not Taken is not only the most #famous poem of Robert Frost but among the most renowned ever written. ‘Frost was close friends with British poet Edward Thomas, and the two took many walks together. In Frost‘s words, Thomas was “a person who, whichever road he went, would be sorry he didn‘t go the other“. The Road Not Taken was initially meant to be a gentle mocking of indecision of his friend.‘

Since joining Litsy I‘ve realized there is a lot of genres I need to give a 2nd chance coz I‘m not 15 anymore and I might actually enjoy them. One of these is Poetry, I think as a teenage student having it forced on you by a disinterested teacher kinds of skews your opinion. So I‘ve started with Robert Frost because I know I like some of his work already. I think by the time I finish, there‘ll be a forest of tabs lining the side. #poetryisthebomb

mrsmarch Love Frost! I quote him frequently. May I also recommend Emily Dickinson? 2y
laurenbescoby I have branched out my reading so much since joining litsy! Still to try poetry though. 2y
Tamra You could try Ted Kooser. VERY accessible and he‘s a poet laureate. 😁 I savor each of his short poems. 2y

#riotgrams #poetry today is close to my heart. Miss you so much Jere ?

" I looked for him behind an isle of trees;
I listened for his whetstone on the breeze.

But he had gone his way, the grass all mown,
And I must be, as he had been,—alone,

...

And dreaming, as it were, held brotherly speech
With one whose thought I had not hoped to reach.

‘Men work together,‘ I told him from the heart,
‘Whether they work together or apart.‘ "

#17booklove #Day7 Love to Reread @jess.how

Robert Frost is my favorite poet, and I have read and reread my copy so many times since I bought it in high school. (I have the same version as pictured here, but my copy is boxed up back in the US right now, so I couldn't snap my own pic.)

For the record, my all time favorite Frost poem is "Fire and Ice" which I memorized back in primary or middle school. ?❄️❤️?

monkeygirlsmama Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I‘ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
