Real snowflakes photographed in early 1900s! #BeautyBreak
When the name “Snowflake Bentley” is mentioned in Louise Penny‘s newest book, The Black Wolf, one must Google it. Was delighted to see that this first photographer of snowflakes was real and the amazing Maria Popova had written about him: https://www.themarginalian.org/2020/01/19/wilson-bentley-snowflakes/

Our first snow fall on the peninsula this season. A few inches, nothing crazy. Definitely the latest first snow since we've been here (we usually see snow before Halloween 😋). I'm hoping for a quite, cozy weekend huddled indoors reading.

Finally the fall weather is here… bring on reading curled up under a cozy blanket!!
“Peter put his snowball in his pocket for tomorrow. Then he went into the warm house.”
A Snowy Day can teach kids how to have fun with their imagination and make the most out of simple activities. They will learn how to appreciate the small things and have a more grateful outlook on life.
The Snowy Day was published in 1962 and is in the Caldecott genre. The Snowy Day follows Peter, a young boy, as he wakes up to find that it has snowed outside. He experiences a magical snowy day through a child's eyes. At the end of the day, Peter goes to sleep dreaming of more snow adventures. When he wakes up, it‘s snowing again, and he heads outside with a friend to enjoy it all over again.
