1. I enjoyed games with my kids, my closet is full! My youngest still will play Clue on occasion. My favorite ever was The Mad Magazine game, I played with my cousins and we had to bawk like a chicken and do other silly things.
2. Tagged my favorite game movie, which is also a book. The latest with Jack Black and the Rock are hilarious!
I was desperately looking for a book written in 1981 for the pop sugar challenge and stumbled upon this and so glad I gave it a go. I had no idea the movie came from a children‘s a book.
This book, that is also a great movie, is about a group of friends who decide to play what they think is just an ordinary board game. However, they soon find out that the board game is far from ordinary as every move they make, something interesting, exciting and dangerous happens. They must reach the end of the game for everything to stop and return to their normal lives. This is a great read and watch. It is very fun and entertaining for kids!
JUMANJI! JUMANJI!!!
But, for real for real….can we be DONE? 😒

Jumanji is a Caldecott award-winning picture book by Chris Van Allsburg that has spawned many major motion pictures. This book is about a brother and sister duo named Peter and Judy who are playing a game called Jumanji. But what they don‘t know is that this is a magical board game that is brought to life when people play. And once the game is started, it must be finished.
The genre of this book is MF.
Guys, the library that employs me has just closed until April 6th. This is unprecedented. I have been ill and in isolation for nine days! I'm going stir crazy, but nevertheless, I shall appreciate my freedom once I'm well. If you need a book whilst in lockdown, Raven Bookstore is offering $1 shipping within the US. Stay home, buy a book from an indie shop, and if you're the one playing Jumanji, for the love of glob, bury the game! 😆
I went to see this with my Granddaughter this afternoon.... I really loved it & was teary at the end
If this is YA & fantasy, maybe I will have to rethink these genres ( Maybe ..,) this might be an exception .
Sooo good ❤️👍🏻
Nicely drawn and a great adventure of a tale. I can see why it‘s a favorite.
I love the movie and enjoyed the book even more. Jumanji written & illustrated by: Chris Van Allsburg is a wonderful picture book that has adventure, daring & frightful experiences as well as some life lesson along the way. A book that will have you wanting more. I believe this book is best under MF, RF due to the nature of the book. Two siblings find an abandoned boardgame one day. After starting, they quickly realize the game isn‘t normal when lions and monkeys and all sorts of jungle dangers begin appearing in their house. This MF makes it feel as if the reader is caught in the action alongside the two siblings as they rush through the dangers, trying to win the game so everything can return back to normal. Caldecott
Everyone knows the story of what happens when a brother and sister find the magical board game Jumanji. This MF read is about how the game brings to life all of the animals and jungle elements in the game. It is a 1982 Caldecott award winner that would be best suited as an RA, RR or even a RT #UCFLAE3414SU19. Even though this movie scared the heck out of me as a kid, it‘s become one of my favorites.
An oldie but a goodie! I totally forgot about this book until this challenge. I remember watching the movie as a kid and giving me total anxiety the entire time. 😅

This MF written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg is a good read for children that enjoy suspense and adventure. This book teaches children to always read the instructions and follow rules because not doing so can lead to consequences. In the story, the main characters are siblings who find a magical board and decide to play without reading the instructions which leads them to magically being a part of the game as the game comes to life.
“Jumanji. A game for those who seek to find a way to leave their world behind. You roll the dice to move your token. Doubles gets another turn. And the first player to reach the end wins.“

This classic book, laden with Allsburg‘s stunning illustrations make this book really come to life.
just and peter find a discard board game at the park that warns “do not begin unless you intend to finish”. little do they know that the game will soon come the life, replete with wild animals and natural disasters, right in their family.
Read and watched this with the kids Friday night. #OneWordTitles
This book is great, it tells a great story and children can enjoy. This is much better if you watch the movie
Caldecott and was written in 1981. This story takes place at the children's home. The story continues with the children going to the park and finding the game jumanji. Ince the children got back and started playing all of these things started to happen : a stampede, volcano, a lion, and much more. Judy finished the game by making it to the final place called jumanji.
This Caldecott winner by Chris Van Allsburg is a great F story for the classroom. Now a major motion picture, Peter and Judy think they're playing an ordinary board game until they are transported into a crazy fantasy world. I would use this in my classroom as a RA. UDL principle 2.4 and ESOL strategy 17 would help students with this story.
Cold weather is for PJ‘s, Christmas trees, books, candles, puzzles, and of course board games! (One of our households favorites!) My son and I tied for 1st, and hubby came in 2nd tonight!
This Caldecott Medal winning F thriller will have students wish they were playing Jumanji after you do a RA! This book takes students on an adventure just buy playing however it‘s not all fun and games! And of course after reading the book the students will want to watch the movie A resource that I plan on using within my classroom is http://readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/cover-cover-comparing... as it allows the
