This is an excellent retelling of Dangerous Liaisons, the 18th century French classic by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The book takes place in 1940s Harlem. Beautiful setting and far from perfect, unlikely characters, Sophfronia Scott takes us on an emotional ride where love and betrayal go hand in hand. This book is a smoldering and sensual read set in Harlem in 1947. It is definitely a cautionary tale about the games that some people play and the devastating consequences that can result. The book is atmospheric and the characters are developed well. Definitely a must read!!

Excited to get into this book by @SophfroniaScott —\u000have read many solid reviews and listened to a great interview with Scott on NPR this past week. Using my 2 week staycation to do a lot of reading (and napping) so looking forward to starting this today ???
