Good. This story takes on the aspects of grief and secrets and what they can do to a family. Well paced and thought provoking. Thank you #LakeUnionPublishing for reading this via #Netgalley.

It took me until 40% to really get into this book but once I did I was hooked. Found myself wishing it was going to go on for at least another 5 chapters. Didn‘t want it to end! Anyway, was a grower and must admit yet again Amanda prowse has wrote a cracker! 📚📚

Story of my life. Was drawn to this book by the cover. I have already read the food of love by Amanda prowse and that was fab so though this book sounded really good on the blurb ‘what would you do if you learned that the life you lived was a lie‘ hope it will be good and also wanna buy and read the idea of you by Amanda so might just have to purchase if this is a good read. ✌🏻✌🏻

Finally finished reading my #arc of this book!
First thank you #Netgalley for a great opportunity to read this.
Here's a story of losing someone you loved and having to find the strength to live and not be weighed down with the emotions every time the memory of that person comes to the surface. An emotional and interesting book.

Mehso-so

Meh. This book was a fine way to pass the time on the plane and in a waiting room. The characters felt underdeveloped and parts of the plot felt rushed and tropey but I liked the premise of Nina learning to care for herself and her boys after the unexpected death of her husband (a plot point that needed more attention) There‘s actually a ton of really good financial lessons tucked into the book which was a pleasant surprise. ARC from NetGalley

I just really disliked this book. This is a story about a woman who suffers loss and then has to cope with going from rich to poor. Her and her family lived in excess and need to learn to make do with what most people can afford. To me, the focus in this book should have been more on being grateful for what you do have rather than the emphasis placed on the unhappiness of going from a wealthy housewife to a working woman who supports herself.

This is a lovely, quiet read. Nina has exclusively defined herself in relation to her husband & kids for as long as she can remember. When tragedy rips her husband away, she discovers that their life has become a house of cards teetering on destruction. When all the cards fall, she & her sons must rebuild from scratch, & along the way they learn money doesn't buy happiness, & Nina learns she is capable of more than she knew.

Cathythoughts I like the sound of this 👍 7y
Redjewel_7734 @Cathythoughts I do recommend it! There's nothing super surprising in it, but the story is told well, the characters are true, and the story tugs at your heartstrings just the right amount while also telling a story that makes you think about real happiness & women claiming themselves & defining themselves. I thought it was well done. (edited) 7y

Heartbreaking initially, but full of hope. We forget how easy it can be to hand over the control of day-to-day life to the people we love, because we trust them. So what happens when that trust is misplaced and the life you built crumbles around you? Nina's story is about rebuilding her life, reconnecting with her family and finding her sparkle again.
It was a wonderful story, and fantastic to see the characters evolve. And set in my home town!

Just finished this, a day behind because it's been a bad week already, but I loved this book so much. Definitely one of the best books I've read this year. Emotional, but uplifting and inspirational while still being a quick and easy read. Just came out yesterday; so go grab a copy! 😺👍

monkeygirlsmama @JaclynW My great great grandparents immigrated to the US from Ireland, so I've always wanted to visit. It looks amazing from what I've read and seen in books, magazines, and online. One day; I hope! 😁 @JenP Okie dokie, artichokie! 😉 7y

JaclynW @monkeygirlsmama That's so cool! Do you you know which part of Ireland they came from? It's a really great place. I lived there for a short time before I had kids and then I've taken my kids back there twice. We all love it! I hope you get to go someday soon! 7y
monkeygirlsmama @JaclynW I don't know. I'm ashamed to admit I don't recall ever asking. Now I'm going to have to inquire next time I talk to my grandma. 7y

A bit depressing at times, but ultimately quite uplifting. Nina's perfect life comes crashing down around her when her husband is killed in an auto accident. As if losing her husband wasn't enough, she soon learns that his business was in financial ruin, and before she has time to prepare she and her two sons are suddenly homeless and broke. A nice story about loss and love and learning to pick yourself up and find happiness in everyday life.

This book shows no matter what a family looks like on the outside, you don't know what is happening behind closed doors. Nina and her boys have to start over with nothing after her husband Finn dies and leaves an $8 million pound debt. She has no job experience but determination. This book really shows how to no matter how bad things are you can survive. Beautiful writing, I shed several tears.

I'm trying to do better with my Net Galley reviews so instead of downloading a book and then never reading it, I'm starting it right away. I want to finish before it is released since that's the main point of getting it early, lol. #netgalley #arc #currentlyreading

I definitely have a new favourite author. This book is another excellent read. Nina looks to all like she has the perfect life. However life can change so quickly and all of a sudden nina is fighting for survival for herself and her family. The perfect life is just an illusion which even Nina believes but due to events Nina is force to strive and in doing so... well you will see from the story. The characters just step out of the book.
