Each time I pick up the next book in this series, I can‘t wait to see what Jack Reacher is getting into next. He gets on a bus and during a stop in Wisconsin, he finds a class ring for West Point 2005. He becomes intrigued about the ring‘s owner. He purchases the ring and sets out on a mission to find the owner to return the ring. Sounds like a relatively simple task, right? Oh, it‘s definitely not!

I couldn‘t get over the amount of time devoted purely to directions! Ten steps to the left, then up fifteen steps, ten steps down the corridor etc...
The plot felt formulaic and predictable. Reacher seems like a stereotype of a macho-hero and I‘m guessing he is as stolid and stoic in every single book. Is that part of the appeal for this best-selling character? It was ok, but it didn‘t keep me guessing and I won‘t be keen for the next instalment.

Oof. I just couldn‘t get into this. It‘s the second time I‘ve started this book only to bail three chapters in.

Lee Child CLEARLY has never been to Wisconsin (where this story starts.) How can I tell? When Reacher walks into a pawn shop in rural WI, the clerk doesn‘t immediately greet him. There‘s also no mention of the Packers. #ohmygodmypackers

Lee Child's Jack Reacher series is comfort food for me, and I needed this read. (I've been needing a lot of comfort food books this month!) Reacher predictably solved a series of problems and helped random people he met on his journey. The Midnight Line held an unexpected consideration of the opioid crisis, something on my mind since reading Beth Macy's Dopesick. This was number 22 in this series of great, formulaic, suspense and action.

Another entry in my “series catch-up” goal. Not sure how I missed this one especially as it has a Wisconsin connection. I listened to this one and always Dick Hill‘s narration. His voice will always be Jack Reacher to me. I enjoyed this one - especially all the supporting characters.

Really enjoyed this storyline, this is now one of my fave Reacher books..

Is Reacher heading to Kansas, can't wait to find out..

Book is a typical Reacher novel, impossible to not read just one more chapter.

Good characters but a poor plot. Not a classic reacher.

I don't know whether it's just me but I've become bored with this series 🙄 I used to love them, they were so exciting and I literally couldn't put them down but the last few have not excited me at all. Don't know whether it's because they're all a bit samey. Hoping Past Tense changes my mind in November and Reacher is back to his best!

I love a Jack Reacher book and this one didn‘t disappoint. I could easily have read this in a day if I‘d been allowed to!

Another edition of the Jack Reacher series. Typical and enjoyable. Great reads for when you just want to relax and not think too hard.

What seems like a simple act of kindness finds Reacher involved with an array of unsavory characters stretching across a number of states. Lee Child is a master plotter, and this book incorporates an array of elements so that it seems as though it were ripped from the headlines. I have read all of Child‘s books. This is definitely one of his best.

Started this yesterday. May finish it tonight. Gotta love Reacher!

Another classic Jack Reacher read- which kept me entertained throughout. As always this had all the hallmarks, a bit of vigilante justice, great fight scenes, sparse dialogue, a bit of mystery and a decent crime. Although there was a bit of a lull, pace-wise in the middle, I enjoyed the commentary on treatment of veterans, especially those wounded in combat.

After two consecutive mediocre thrillers Mr. Child hits this one out of the park. The way plot unveils with some unexpected twists is amazing and keeps you hooked. Some might even say this is the best Jack Reacher thriller. Hard to argue with that!! 😉

P.S. I would have liked the retired Fed to be more than just a driver. 😑

Lee Child has argued that he has never described Jack Reacher however, he comes pretty close to it in this book. And, Tom Cruise does not come to mind. That said it is a good Reacher story and certainly fills the time sync of beltway traffic.

It‘s probably cheating, especially given I used No Middle Name yesterday but... The Midnight Line is the 23rd Lee Child Reacher novel and since I just bought it, I‘m going with it for #NovemberByTheNumbers for the 23rd!!! I haven‘t read it yet and suspect it might become my new “Emergency Reacher” 😊😊😊. We‘re being engulfed in family wedding stuff though so it may see service soon (WHY have weddings become multi-day extravaganzas?!?😭😭😭).

Much better than a few of the recent Jack Reacher novels, this was a quick read because I couldn‘t put it down. Great supporting characters.

If your criteria for a good read is fast-paced and action-packed and you don't mind suspending disbelief, then the Jack Reacher series is always a good choice. After several weighty non-fiction reads, this was the escapism that I was looking for.

I liked this one more then the last few Reacher Books. I liked the premise of this story (Reacher searching for the woman who owned a West Point class ring that he found in a pawn shop). And, he wasn‘t as omnipotent in this book. I do wish the editors would edit the fight scenes in the book(s). These scenes also usually go on for more pages then necessary. But, this book, was more about a missing veteran and the fallout from war.
