Killer Librarian
Killer Librarian | Mary Lou Kirwin
FILE M FOR MURDER. . . . Champion of the mystery section at a small-town Minnesota library, Karen Nash is about to embark on a dream trip to Londona literary tour inspired by every murderous intrigue, wily suspect, and ingenious crime found in the pages of the British mysteries that she devours. But shes clueless why the love of her mid-life, Dave, would dump her hours before takeoffuntil she spies him at the airport with a young honey on his arm! She decides the best revenge (for now) is to get on that plane anyway . . . and entertain schemes for Daves untimely demise while crossing the pond. After touching ground in the hallowed homeland of Christie, Sayers, and Peters, she checks into a cozy B & B run by charming bibliophile Caldwell Perkins. Soon shes spilling tears in her pint at the corner pub, sharing her heartbreak saga with a stranger. That night, a B & B guest drops out of circulationpermanently. And when Dave and his cutie turn up in London, Karen realizes they are an assassins target. With the meticulous attention to detail that makes her a killer librarian, Karen sleuths her way through her own real-life mysteryin which library science meets the art of murder.

The plot is ridiculous, the murder is “solved“ in an unbelievable way and I loved it. Karen's boyfriend dumps her right before their trip to England. Karen goes on the trip anyway - she gets involved in murder, kidnapping, and love, with time to spare for seeing the sights. If you want a quick, fun cozy mystery - this is it!

Karen Nash is dumped by her boyfriend on the eve of their trip to England but decides to go anyway. In the land of Agatha Christie and other great mystery writers of course she finds a corpse (natural causes? accidental OD? poison?) and overcome by jet lag and a boozy evening in a pub, she may've accidentally put out a hit on the cheating scumbag (how to retract it?).

Very entertaining piece of fluff. Moving rapidly on to the 2nd in the duology.

Taking a break from teaching on this gorgeous day. If I were in a school building today I would be longing to teach outside. So I am grateful for this day, and the gift of teaching with nature‘s sights and sounds around me.

Mehso-so

This was one of those books in which I liked the characters, but the mystery was rather blah. Ultimately, the murder wasn't even really a murder; it was an accidental death, and then there was *another* accidental death. Not sure I'll read anything else by this author.😕 #mystery

Current read: a literary mystery with a middle-aged librarian sleuth. It is very nice to see a woman in her forties as the protagonist. Plus I love all the literary references. #mystery #bravegirls

A cute, but not entirely memorable cozy mystery. I was drawn to this by the premise. Okay, and by the super cheesy pun on the cover. Karen is a solid protagonist, but her judgmental, know-it-all personality wore on me after awhile. The story itself was intriguing enough to keep me reading, but I ultimately didn't care enough about the characters to want to pick up the next book in the series.

LeahBergen I've read this, too, and you summed up my feeling exactly. It was a bit of frothy fun! (edited) 7y

Weekend plans! After this week, I'm in need of some fun books. Mysteries like these are definitely comfort reads for me. Probably won't get through all three this weekend, but I'll try!

Lmstraubie I've been reading a lot of mysteries myself lately. They feel like a nice light break from reality. 7y
megt @Lmstraubie they really do! 7y
