Bk5 of May is done. The 3rd DCI Banks book, it‘s another very late 80s/early 90s setting. An anti nuclear demonstration in Eastvale erupts into a brawl between police & demonstrators. After the dust settles a dead officer appears to have been murdered. The first appearance of Dirty Dick Burgess after London CID is called in, making tensions escalate. Burgess immediately sets his sights on a young protester from a local commune. #SeriesLove2024👇

Sad. What a loss. Rest In Peace. Thank you for all the books!

Andrew65 Devastating, one of my favourite series and authors and got me back into reading crime fiction. 2y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 We‘ve lost many great ones lately 2y
EadieB Oh no! So sad! Will miss his books! 2y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads We have far too many, and why we need to find new authors constantly. 2y

Mehso-so

Quick read on the plane. Short break in the sunshine. Going back and reading Inspector Banks from the beginning. I started in the middle!

MrsMalaprop On a plane? Whaaat 😉? Have been thinking we might need to get to Tassie for a little holiday (from WA). 3y
Teresereading Fingers crossed for you. It‘s looking a bit tricky (again)😔 3y

My third Robinson and it was excellent. I love the way the author spends time on the lives of all the characters, not just our hero and his quest to solve the case. The Yorkshire setting is part of the plot as well, and the fact that the early books are set in the 80s is a fun window in time. Cassette players in cars! Not even standard!

Two books down on my #FabulousFebruary stack! #BookSpinBingo square crossed off!

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! And I love your view!! 4y
Lreads I love the view and the cardinal! 4y
MittenGirlPeach @TheAromaofBooks @QuietlyLaura thank you! We love our spot in the country, and I love to birdwatch. We‘ve got two pairs of cardinals that frequent our feeder. They‘re stunners! 4y
TheAromaofBooks We've had a lot of bird feeder activity the last couple of weeks with snow + bitter cold. We have one cardinal that we can't believe he can even fly because he's so pudgy!! 😂 4y
Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 4y

And here is my #BookSpinBingo card! More books will be filled in as I go along. Planning on a good reading month. January was a bit fragmented in terms of my attention span, so even though I had plenty of time to read I spent way too much of it doom and then relief (and joy) scrolling Twitter. 🤷‍♀️ ⬇️

MittenGirlPeach I‘m starting with the next book in the Inspector Banks series—it‘s what I feel like reading AND I need to read it so that I can eventually get to my #Doublespin, which is later in the series. I have three Banks books on my list this month, plus some holdovers and some romance. 4y
Librariana I love your creative use of the monthly calendar! Very clever 😊 4y
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Looks fantastic!! 4y

MittenGirlPeach @Librariana thank you! I really wanted to figure out a way to use my bibliophile planner, and this works well! 4y
Curiouser_and_curiouser I'm lovin' how you're using your Bibliophile! I adore mine. If I ever do a book spin I will definitely be using the month calendar page to do it! 4y
MittenGirlPeach @Curiouser_and_curiouser it‘s really a nice way to use it; I was so pleased when I came up with it! 😉 I love that it‘s all in one place for my bookspin and musings. 4y

It‘s a cold looking picture, but it‘s cold like Siberia outside. Better stay inside and read, like I did before I started working.

Cathythoughts This series sounds good ... must investigate.... ♥️👍🏻 6y
Tove_Reads @Cathythoughts Seems like a good series. This particular one is not really moving forward fast enough for me, but I like the town and getting to know the characters. @andrew65 says the series gets better, and there are many books in the series! 6y
Andrew65 @Cathythoughts A great series, and only get better too.One of my favourite detective series. (edited) 6y

Thanks @Andrew65 for getting me to read this series! As usual I have to work hard to get to my books... The fourth book in the series has vanished from the library, but they have ordered a new copy. Now I‘m stuck at number 3.

ReadingOver50 Always up for a new mystery series 😄 6y
Tove_Reads @ReadingOver50 👍🏽 I‘ve started several new ones this year, and one more soon! Jane Casey, Mo Hayder, Adrian McKinty, Scott Mariani, Kate Ellis... 6y
Andrew65 Simply love Peter Robinson, Kate Ellis, Scott Mariani, Peter James, Ian Rankin, Elly Griffiths, L J Ross, L J Sellers, James Oswald, Denzil Meyrick, Peter May, Simon Beckett and many others I am most probably forgetting. Anne Cleeves! @ReadingOver50 @Tove_Reads The Peter Robinson Series only gets better! 6y

Tove_Reads @andrew65 And there are so many more! Rollins, Lynds, Bolton, Ludlum, Slaughter, Child, Cussler, Cooper, Casey, and all the ones I haven‘t started reading. 6y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Do they hold up? Robinson and Mariani. So many books in the series. 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I still love reading both series. I feel both dipped for a book or two (but still good reads) then picked up again. Amongst my favourite all time Series. (edited) 6y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 A dip like Heartstone or a dip like “forgetaboutthisbook”? 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Like Heartstone. Definitely don‘t miss any out. Talking about 4 star reads as opposed to 4 1/2 or 5. 6y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Got it! I enjoy reading 3+ series like Hamish or Agatha, but tbh I never remember the plots and they don‘t stay with me. That‘s the difference. Lamentation will stay with me forever. 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I think that‘s very much the case with historical fiction as opposed to mystery and Suspense in the main. 6y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 True, but some you never forget. Cozy mysteries are somehow warming and, well cozy. I love them for that. Frieda, well cant forget about those. With hisfic it‘s easier to remember especially if it‘s an era you know about. 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Cosy mysteries are definitely more forgettable. 6y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Indeed, but the characters stay with you! 6y
