Again another typical Charbonneau book, she takes on a massive topic and does an ok job at writing about it. I will say this time I found almost all the characters super unlikeable except Rashid who had I felt great character development. The other main characters were annoying and not really that fun to read about, and maybe they were just realistic to what high schoolers are like, either way, I didn't love them.

Shay1097 I also found this book honestly less believable than her dystopian novels, the whole McCarthyism type bill and discourse surrounding school violence just seemed silly to me and not something that would ever be discussed for real. However, it was a thrilling read and had pretty good pacing and action, overall not her best work but not the worst thing I've ever read. 3y
Shay1097 I feel like this just missed the mark talking about school violence which is a very real and very terrifying reality in America. I'm only giving 3 stars because this book did draw me in and make me want to keep reading. 3y

It was a little slow in the beginning due to character development since there are quite a bit of characters, but it picked up. But it was more than just about the characters being stuck in a school while the school is being bombed. It addresses real world situations and how high school kids (or really anyone) feel about their lives. I really enjoyed this one!

Time bombs about seven kids trying to make it out alive of there school being bombed. And one of them are responsible for this mess. But who?
Read to find out :)))

The pacing at the start is a little slow but quickly speeds up when the first bomb goes off. It is rather slow at some parts.

I really like the book and recomend people who like books that deal with more serious topics and that have you at the edge of your seat.

Cfischbuch You picked a great image to demonstrate the book. Well done! 4y
MissYaremcio This book sounds like it is right up my alley! Your summary left me wanting more! And make sure the photo you choose has the cover in it too (although this was a pretty relevant picture)! Keep up the great work! 4y

This story about a school bombing stayed true to each character and ended not as I expected. It has some major twists and and a final outcome that blew me away (bad choice of words). I enjoyed how each character was facing their own trauma and hardship and that you got to spend a little time with each one. It game this story that edge that a lot of stories don‘t have.

Evaluate whether the main character would be worthy of your friendship. Well my book is told from six different perspectives but I'll go with Rashid. Rashid wants people to see him for more than his religion. But in the book he is a really nice caring guy who actually really helps out in the end. He would be a good friend to have

This book is told through six characters perspectives who are all totally different. But all six are trapped in a school that is being bombed. When they hear on the radio that the bombers still inside they have to choose whether to turn on eachother or work together to escape.

Time Bomb is a modern day telling of the Breakfast Club with a slight twist. Six students with their own agendas and issues visit their school a few days before. These students are trapped in the building and learn that one of them may be the bomber. Fear and courage brings the best and worst out of each of them revealing their true reasons for being at school that day as well as facing intense prejudices about themselves and the others.

I was unable to go to the YA book festival at my school this weekend but I have a great friend who bought me a bunch of books that I picked out! I might have gone a little overboard 😳🙄 The t-shirt was designed by a parent-I can‘t wait to wear it! #bookhaul #YA

Had so much fun hosting the Chicago Young Adult Book Festival at our school! What‘s a little cold and wind and rain when you can hang out all day with authors and talk books? We want to thank The Book Cellar, who put on the event, for their generous donation to the library. The book the kids talked about most after hearing from the authors? Time Bomb. Wait until they see we now have it in the library!

Book 5 of this weekend is done. I figured out who was behind the bombs about 1/3 of the way through, but the suspense of seeing who lived abd how they survived made it worth continuing. It was not necessarily my favorite, but it was still a good read.

I also just finished #TimeBomb by Joelle Charbonneau: it was like a ‘The Breakfast Club‘ set during an awful high school bombing, and suggests essentially that many teens are ‘ticking time bombs‘. It was an incredibly fast read for me, and it might be easy for people to gloss over what I think Joelle was getting at with this book; I just wish she had dug a bit deeper... Read my awesome review here tho! http://bit.ly/TimeBombReview 💣👍🏼

This YA novel takes place pretty much over the space of a few hours- a bombing in their high school unexpectedly brings seven very different teens together. It isn‘t terribly unpredictable but it‘s certainly fast paced! Plus my newest #bookwear arrived in the mail today! Yay!

Took me several minutes to figure out that the cover shows a backpack against a row of lockers. What else did I think it was? Well, first a bomb, but then because I am super morbid, I thought it was a headless figure (in the book there's several teens trapped together and one of them is the bomber and they have to figure out who). But nope... just a backpack. Is it Friday yet?

Zelma 😆 I see a chair and even though you are saying it‘s a backpack, my brain doesn‘t see it. 6y
SandyW Hmm. First I saw a chair, then a headless figure. I agree, no backpack in sight 6y
LibrarianRyan I saw a space chair. 6y
MidnightBookGirl @Zelma @SandyW @LibrarianRyan Well, now I see all those things too... but based on the book so far, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be a bag. Lol, maybe they have time for a cover tweak before publication! 6y
LibrarianRyan @MidnightBookGirl I bet they do. I've seen a white cover for this book somewhere. Maybe they were worried it looked too much like Dividing Eden 6y

A girl who has to be perfect. A star quarterback with a secret. A guy who's tired of being ignored. A clarinet player who's done trying to fit in. An orphaned rebel who wants to teach someone a lesson. A guy who wants people to see him, not his religion.

They couldn't be more different, before the morning's over, they'll be trapped in a school that's been bombed. When they hear that someone inside is the bomber, they'll question each other.
