Who wants to go down the creepy tunnel first where a God or monsters are said to live? I liked the book. The ending was nice, but I thought it should have left off on a cliffhanger since the book was full of suspense. Would be a good movie. 6 hours read. Themed book. Plus watched Halloween (new version) and the Madagascar Halloween movie. 86 pts #teamharkness #scarathlon2020 @StayCurious #screamathon @4thhouseontheleft

Book of the Month arrived. Glad I picked Reece‘s pick. And got an extra free book for my birthday month!
This could have been a 5 star book but at times the main character got a little too preachy for me. Not so much about religion but about his hunt for the unexplained.
This was an exciting read. It hooked me from the beginning. The search for a mysterious cavern in the Grand Canyon. What they find was a complete surprise. Not at all what I thought it might be. There were a couple of twists I wasn‘t expecting. This was very enjoyable.
“He was immediately identifiable as one of those gung-ho guys who‘s so brim-full of testosterone that he‘s going bald at thirty.”
OMG! So funny! 🤣
New stickers!! Probably going on my water bottle or laptop
Ridiculous plot, shallow characters, insipid setting, didn't work for me
IF INDIANA JONES LIVED IN THE X-FILES ERA, HE MIGHT BEAR A STRONG RESEMBLANCE TO NOLAN MOORE — A ROGUE ARCHAEOLOGIST HOSTING A YOUTUBE DOCUMENTARY SERIES DERISIVELY DISMISSED BY THE "REAL" EXPERTS, BUT BELOVED OF CONSPIRACY THEORISTS
That one was interesting. Had my attention from the beginning. Lots of twists I didn't see coming!
Read this in one day! Rutger is a new-to-me author and I really enjoyed his style. Great pacing, an enjoyable main character, strong setting. I was surprised by a few twists. I didn‘t love the resolution, but the rest of the book was a lot of fun.
My review won‘t fit and I‘m not willing to cut it short. This was basically my favorite read of 2018. I‘m so stoked for the sequel. SOOOOOOOOO EPICALLY FANTASTIC!!!!
Lord In Heaven above was this a slog. It did not keep you guessing, or really all that engaged. At times it was so meandering that I got lost. The big “reveal” felt half explained and partially thought out. Could‘ve had promise but fell flat.
Ok guys I‘m halfway through and honestly kind of bored. Is it worth continuing? Who‘s read it?
This was a lot of fun! Plenty of horror to go around (plus the whole claustrophobic trapped in a cave thing), but my favorite thing is the main character, Dolan. He and his producer, Ken, are wonderfully snarky and sarcastic, so there is a lot of humor to leaven the episodes of terror. Highly recommended for fans of horror and snark!
First books to be scanned into my LibraryThing library with my cat scanner. The Anomaly was a quick easy read combo between thriller and light horror.
Uff da I needed the workout today- case management has been CRAZY! No picture for #litsywalkers other than my sweaty self so here‘s a pic to celebrate International Women‘s Day!
I didn‘t want to work out at lunch but couldn‘t disappoint #litsywalkers ! Just started the tagged book on audio.
Interesting story that pulled me through very quickly. It‘s active and engaging and felt like these people are the one‘s that Sam and Dean Winchester cross paths with after this book ends. My only criticism is the obscene language that I don‘t feel lends anything positive to the book. Needless profanity takes it off for anyone under 18 and about half of my bookish friends which is too bad ;The story is a great original myth grown from real seeds.
This is a great read, with some nice pop culture references and it feels like a mix of X-Files, Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider....it‘s truly gripping with some great humour, tension, excitement and some surprises along the dark and scary way. I loved this and can thoroughly recommend it.

Just started reading this....quite a bit of humour and laugh out loud moments...so enjoyable so far
Looking forward to my next read! My sister and I are no longer doing The Book of the Month club due to financial circumstances, but I hope we can rejoin soon! Now I must catch up on all the months I got behind!
For this year my goal is finish a book each month, and hopefully that number will grow as the year progresses! I am determined to not let my depression get in the way of my love of books.
Yay! And with that I‘ve completed #Booked2018!!
Underdog Hero - The Moment of Everything
LGBTQ MC - If I Was Your Girl
Diverse Nonfiction - The Fire This Time
Set Outside - The Anomaly
Japanese Thriller - The Decagon House Murders
Book About Friendship - Winnie The Pooh
Now I just need to read 2 more owned books to meet #MountTBR
THE X FILES meets THE DESCENT in this entertaining horror thriller by Michael Rutger (aka award-winning speculative writer Michael Marshall Smith) and while I was left with questions about the plot, the story is riddled with a wry, dry humour and throws a knowing wink at conspiracy subculture that dominates certain aspects of the internet, which kept me engaged from beginning to end.
Well that was one h@ll of a ride!!
Slow lead up - but once I got well into the plot I couldn‘t put it down. And man I felt anxiety along with those characters. Good choice for #BOTM! (I think it was a @Liberty pick if I remember right..?)
4/5⭐️
I thoroughly enjoyed this book so I did. Team of intrepid ‘mystery hunters‘ attempt to rediscover a historic cave of doom in the Grand Canyon for their cable TV series called ‘The Anomaly Files‘. What will they find? Hidden treasure, evidence of lost civilisations, the ark of the covenant, monsters?!?!? It‘s monsters....or is it...
Friends. I just started this novel and am already utterly terrified. Because when @Liberty says “bad things happen “, I FREAKING BELIEVE HER.
“But the truth is you get where you‘re going not through the long, forgettable years of sticking to the path, but through the moments when you wander off it. It‘s the things that don‘t make sense that reveal who you are inside.
The anomalies make you who you are.”
One of the weirdest books I‘ve read but I couldn‘t put it down! The author does such an excellent job of describing how terrifying it would be to be stuck underground in the dark that I couldn‘t turn my lamp off after I‘d finished reading at night.
This book was really good. It was different from a lot of books I‘ve read. I‘ve been wanting to read a book like Indiana Jones and this definitely fit the bill. I wouldn‘t read if you are claustrophobic. Some scenes would be terrifying. I don‘t have that issue, though it doesn‘t sound pleasant but it bothered me. This book makes you think, “what would I do in this situation?”
Read this for #Booked2018 - Set outside/about the environment
Michael Rutger did an amazing job creating well-developed characters & a creepy atmosphere. The book plays out like a movie.
Nolan Moore, a rogue “archaeologist”, goes in search of a mysterious cave that a 1909 explorer found & no one has seen it since. Retracing the explorer‘s steps & using some of his own theories, Nolan & his team go out in search for the cave. The cave holds some nasty secrets & they are in for a surprise.
Had our housewarming party yesterday. Which means today all I want to do is lay in bed and read.
Got a little bit of reading in, but now we have to go and socialize and watch football 🤪
Happy Sunday everyone!

Thrilling, not stupid and predictable. Unsettling, but not scary. Fun. Reminded me a bit of James Rollins Sigma Force series and Steve Berry‘s Cotton Malone.
Current read while having a Scream movie marathon.
What‘s your favorite scary movie?
@kamoorephoto The book got here today! Thanks for the book and all the goodies! Also, love your business card!
Your book should be there no later than Monday!! I hope your friend loves it!
I really enjoyed The Anomaly. It was creepy, disturbing and claustrophobic. It was also a great pre Halloween read ✴
Oooo this is getting good! #socksunday #rainydayreads
Enjoying this book so far! Hailed as X-files meets Indiana Jones! I‘m thinking about Uncharted and Resident Evil.
I wasn‘t in love with this book. It was a quick read that kept me on my toes. However, the twist at the end had me rolling my eyes. Wasn‘t impressed and sadly disappointed. #BOTM
This book was greatly entertaining with interesting characters and a super creepy setting. I'm not entirely sure I liked the solution at the end but I definitely enjoyed getting there.
"If Indiana Jones lived in the X-Files era....." Enough said. Excited to start this one!
