Was able to finish my reading goal of 2021 on this book. It was a good, fun, introspective read. Kinda reminded me of The 5 People You Meet in Heaven without all the religious undertones. 3.5 🌟

This was a pretty cute, quick read! Overall, I enjoyed it. What‘s not to love witches falling in love and curses!?!? There was a bit more “smut” than I typically enjoy but again overall a fun read. 3.5🌟#botm

Holy cow! I have FINALLY finished this wonderful book ❤️ I loved it exactly as much as I thought I would. Will certainly have this in my reread pile.

Fair warning for ADHD humans- personally, I was very distracted by all the “minor” characters (they were all important for the world/story build) a la ASOIAF but with no index. That‘s why it took me so long to finish. Also with minimal church/bible knowledge.

I really enjoyed this book overall. Lots of, albeit depressing, twists and turns had me hooked from beginning til end. I‘m not going to give it super high stars because it just made me sad instead of spooked, which was what I was hoping more of this book. 3.5 🌟

I did enjoy this book but was a bit upset about the ending, just wasn‘t what I was looking for. Overall, I pretty entertaining spooky read. The twist at the end was just not my favorites of Sagers. 3.5🌟#botm

I absolutely love this modern, feminist retelling of mythology from around the world. Bolu Babalola did a beautiful job giving the women in these stories a voice of their own. I actually suggested it to a friend who is teaching a mythology course this year. 4 🌟 #botm

This book was exactly what I needed, a wonderful summer camp thriller! I usually can tell where a book is going halfway through, about 5 pages from the end I thought “dang there‘s going to be so many plot holes in this.” And Riley Sage wrapped it all up in about 5 pages, he stuck that landing 4🌟 #botm

Holy crow this book! I was so enthralled throughout I had to finish it in one day. May be my favorite of 2021 so far. The lessons the main characters learned throughout are wonderfully written. Excellent book S.A. Cosby! 5 🌟 #botm

This was a slow build for me but I loved the character development through out. It got a *bit* confusing towards the end with all the characters but overall a really strong book. 4🌟 #botm

Ok, I loved this book until the end. It was a gripping tale until about 3/4s of the way. It became very predictable. Also, my little archaeology heart broke at the end. However, still a riveting tale just a few humps to get over. #botm

I absolutely adored this book! It was a very slow start but once the Burroughs were introduced I fell in love with the entire story. I have never been to NYC and could see having spent anytime there, loving this book even more. #BOTM

Ok, I LOVED this book but it took some time to get into the story line. Looking back I understand the slow build and appreciate the story telling. The end truly took my breath away. I loved learning about Okonkwo‘s culture and dealing with wh*te supremacy. Stick with this book, I promise it‘s worth it. #ReadABookWithKara

I really enjoyed this book. It‘s a fun take on standard feminist novels, although a massive trigger warning with regards to infertility.

I‘m going to have to take a break from feminist novels in which infertility is a major theme for a bit because I have been reading this genre a bunch lately. #botm

I‘m pretty sure I said this about Parable of the Sower and didn‘t learn my lesson.... I don‘t know what took me so long to read this book. But holy cow this book was wonderful! It is so relevant and a quick, heartbreaking, read.

So I have apparently been sitting on this one for FAR too long! Absolutely fell in love with the characters and world building. Pleasantly surprised to find out that it is going to be a series of books or I would have been so disappointed with that ending.

One thing I‘ve realized lately is that I truly LOVE short stories, and this book falls directly into the LOVED collection. I devoured this book and will be rereading in the future, highly recommend.

I actually finished this awhile ago and never posted a review. This had a bit of everything I wanted in this book. Spooky haunted house, a curse, a weird eugenics storyline. I appreciated this story and blew through it.

Holy crap I fell completely in love with this collection of short stories! I‘m not sure why I haven‘t always been a fan of short stories but this was beautifully written and had it all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I forgot how much I absolutely love this book. It‘s a bit different reading it as an adult compared to a high school student. I was certainly able to pick up on the beautiful nuance that Hurston is known for

I love Philip Pullman and was completely unaware this prequel existed! 😱 This book is so good! It‘s so descriptive and honestly had me more on the edge of my seat than the original His Dark Materials.
