I love Kingfisher, and I love fairytale retellings, so I have very high hopes for this one!

🎧 I like fairytale retellings. This was similar to Beauty & the Beast. I like the way this author spins a yarn. The antagonist was great. It‘s a bit dark but fun! The novels are fantastic palate cleansers between ridiculous chonkers.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️3/4
Bryony, lost in the woods, finds a strange mansion inhabited by a cursed … yes, this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. (Though Bryony is really rather plain.) It's a fresh retelling, with Kingfisher's humor. Bryony is more of a gardener than a bookworm, and sets about what she does best — growing things. Her nemesis is a nasty and bloodthirsty rose bush, and she has an unexpected ally. You'll enjoy the twists and the thorns.
This was great! Heard nice things abt Kingfisher and I def wanna read more of his works. This was short and sweet, def worth the read!
Current book situation... These are all either coming in or going out!!! I always have piles but they have been even more pile-y than ever lately haha
Anyway, I received my #LMPBC book back safe & sound yesterday @Laughterhp and I totally forgot you said you were sending Ten Thousand Doors so I was bonus excited!!
Had a lovely round reading with you all!! @Chrissyreadit @Sace
Finished this book last night. It was really good! A different Beauty and the Beast retelling. Bryony is a Gardener, so there is a lot of garden talk in this book. The story was very compelling, but also pretty quick. Great choice Sarah! #LMPBC

A sweet Beauty & The Beast adaptation. Bryony is a gardener and she stumbles into the Beast's enchanted house during a snowstorm. They must work together to try to break the spell & to make a really great vegetable garden.
You've got the next #LMPBC book on its way to you @Laughterhp I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Just finished this for #LMPBC Group I. Definitely a pick! It was especially fun reading comments from @Chrissyreadit and @TheAromaofBooks.
It should be on the way to you tomorrow or Thursday @Laughterhp!
@Chrissyreadit I got your package for #LMPBC. I'm really looking forward to reading it!
It's not roses but I did spy a small bloom on my weed trellis today (I'm hoping it's morning glory? I'm trash at garden stuff.)
I really enjoyed the Beauty and the Beast retelling. I‘m so glad it was picked for #LMPBC Thanks @TheAromaofBooks !
I want a magic house with a magic garden and a magic library....musings while reading my #LMPBC book. And thanks to @LibrarianRyan for fun bookmarks while I entail to make greater progress in her BBRC
1. I‘m torn between a desperate need for both and Amelia Bedelia for comedic relief and amazing food (vegan of course)

I‘ve been in a Beauty-and-the-Beast mood recently, and this was an entertaining retelling.

This book was a surprise and a delight! T. Kingfisher is a pseudonym for one of my children‘s favorite authors, Ursula Vernon. I read this because it was self-published, but it also happens to be a lively retelling of a fairy tale (Beauty & the Beast). I loved getting to know the unconventional MC, Bryony who is refreshingly (& literally) down-to-earth as a self-aware gardener. Spoiler: she‘s not a beauty, but she sure is fun. 👇
I am reading through all T. Kingfisher's books at the moment and having the time of my life. Summer In Orcus is a new favorite and man do I need the illustrated special edition in my hot little hands..
She also writes as Ursula Vernon and I NEED her Digger-comics as well, her art and humor is a wondrous thing.
