pickGreat read, this one. The plot is going along really nicely - interesting stuff about a mental institution, 2 well-drawn MCs & a 'love to hate' almost psychopathic villain - when a change of POV causes an electrifying shift in perspective! My sympathies switched so quickly that I felt dizzy! And it becomes obvious who the real stone mothers are. Intriguing, sad, shocking, and cleverly written with a satisfying ending.
so-soMarianne, Jesse, & Helen share a dangerous secret - one that could cause all their lives to implode. The narrative takes place in 3 different times: present, 1980s, & 1950s. We go back to see what happened between Marianne & Jesse then further back still for Helen‘s story.
The synopsis looked interesting but the start dragged a little. It did pick up a bit but only a so-so read for me. 3⭐️

pickI really liked this book. I was expecting it to be more of a thriller, but it did keep me guessing about what was going to happen. I didn‘t expect the ending to be what it was. Overall, I‘d give this book 4 stars because it was a pretty good book!

Just to be sure of course😋Marianne was only 17 when she left her family & boyfriend behind, and the the body they buried. 30yrs later, she‘s come home to look after her sick mother. But secrets don‘t stay buried, and Jessie is threatening to blow up her whole world.
so-soI found that the beginning was frustrating to read - there's a lot of talk about a mysterious event but no details on what that is until at least a quarter of the way in. There was some suspense that I enjoyed, but I would definitely not classify this as a thriller. Overall, it really came down to the structure of the novel not working for me - I liked the idea for the story, just not the execution. #NetGalley ⭐⭐⭐
pickGreat characters spanning across generations & families, who cross paths & are binded by secrets.The way each character tells thier story will have you feeling a roller coaster of emotions. The way Kelly wrote about the aspect of how mental illness was treated & misdiagnosed in the past verses today quite chilling.
