pickThe moomin display at B&N piqued my curiosity and I went ahead and grabbed some the Moomin series from the library. I read Moominland Midwinter to match the storm outside, but now I‘m following the order of the series. It‘s very charming, but the show Moominvalley (2019) really brought the characters to life for me. I enjoyed some of the 90s episodes too. I was really excited to learn Jansson was queer and that Moomin and Snufkin are queer-coded.
pickI either never read this one or forgot most of the story, or maybe it's shorter in the comic strip versions? It's been so long. The beginning and ending seemed familiar.
I really love Moominmamma just relentlessly adopting anyone who needs a mother.

So many adventures! I admit to being slightly baffled by my library's choices about this series, the first in hardcover, the next only available as an audiobook, but maybe it was a licensing/price thing. 1/?

I read some of these with my eldest when he was a boy. We loved them! Episodic children's lit with quirky characters, a philosophical bent and a touch of melancholia. Another one I mean to reread/finish...

I saw it! Sleep eluded me last night so I went in search of comet Neowise. (Its 'hair' is suspiciously like Little My's, if you ask me.) Momentous things, comets. The last time I saw one was Hale-Bopp, when I was pregnant with Miss K.

A Tove Jansson shelfie 💖📚💖 I'm running out of space, so had to move some other books off- shelf to fit the Jansson's in their rightful place.
It's surprisingly odd to pick up a book in your own language when you mostly read in English. But I had this sudden urge to reread this funny, wise little book today, even though I'm up to my neck with other unfinished books. Oh well.
But if I finish this one today, I have reached 65 books read on my Goodreads Challenge. Yay. I may celebrate it by.. adding more books to my TBR.
I know this creature is meant to be a fearsome lizard guarding a treasure but I just want to make it my friend. 💙🦎💙
pickHad not read the Moomin books before but a book-loving friend highly recommended them. The story for this first book is sweet and fun and loving - full of friends and family. Lots of very subtle humour as well.
I had to buy already something for #ValentinesBookExchange . It was screaming "Litsy" when I saw it in a store while shopping for books. I don't even have my secret person yet. I just have to hope that the person matches my perfect bookish find...
