Kopp Sisters on the March
Kopp Sisters on the March | Amy Stewart
30 posts | 21 read | 12 to read
In the fifth installment of Amy Stewart's clever and original Kopp Sisters series, the sisters learn some military discipline--whether they're ready or not--as the U.S. prepares to enter World War I. It's the spring of 1917 and change is in the air. American women have done something remarkable: they've banded together to create military-style training camps for women who want to serve. These so-called National Service Schools prove irresistible to the Kopp sisters, who leave their farm in New Jersey to join up.When an accident befalls the matron, Constance reluctantly agrees to oversee the camp--much to the alarm of the Kopps' tent-mate, the real-life Beulah Binford, who is seeking refuge from her own scandalous past under the cover of a false identity. Will she be denied a second chance? And after notoriety, can a woman's life ever be her own again? In Kopp Sisters on the March, the women of Camp Chevy Chase face down the skepticism of the War Department, the double standards of a scornful public, and the very real perils of war. Once again, Amy Stewart has brilliantly brought a little-known moment in history to light with her fearless and funny Kopp sisters novels.

4⭐️ I picked the book because I needed a #k book for #litsyatoz2020. While the story slowly built, it certainly was worth it and by the end I was enjoying the book. I quite enjoyed the historical note at the end of the book. #2020 #bookreview #bookstagram #koppsisters #historicalfiction #mystery #fiction #ww1

Finally got round to reading the latest installment in the Kopp Sisters series. Much of this book focuses on a new character rather than the sisters themselves, but I still found her story interesting enough to keep me turning pages quickly, and I enjoyed the historical background. I'm looking forward to the next book which is out in January.

rabbitprincess The next book is out in January?! Yay!! 4y
Rusty37 @rabbitprincess yep, it was originally supposed to be September but got delayed due to the pandemic 4y
melissajayne Can I read the series out of order? 4y
Rusty37 @melissajayne I think so. A lot of this book focuses on a character who wasn't in the previous books, so it would work fine on its own. (But I'd recommend reading the others too!) 4y

I love this series. Following the events of book 4, Norma signs up the sisters to join a women's military camp in Maryland. Unlike the last few books, Stewart has no record of what the Kopps were up to during this time and pieces together a story more fiction than fact. But it features Beulah Binford, a real woman who was notorious in her day. A great read and fascinating! I was lucky enough to get an ARC of book 6 so I'll be starting that soon!

I‘ve enjoyed another great adventure with the Kopp Sisters. I loved that we had a lot of Constance and Norma in this one. This is the 5th book in the series, so if you haven‘t read the first one you should; Girl Waits With Gun. It‘s a great #HistoricalFiction series!

Today I will be giving away 21 awards. It was important in this, the 3rd year of the Litsy Awards that we take time to recognize a work by a Litten Author, even if it was not recognized else where.

Today's award goes to @AmyStewart and her tagged book for the best work by a Litten Author.

Another excellent Kopp sisters novel and one that was highly appropriate for Remembrance Day. Women's contributions to the war effort have been historically undervalued, and I am glad that Stewart chose to highlight this particular contribution. It is educational and timely.

This was probably my favorite Kopp sisters book. Constance is no longer a deputy, but Amy Stewart finds little known and interesting historical circumstances of World War I women: they go to a National Services camp for women, and encounter the notorious Beulah Binford. Stewart draws compelling characters with sympathy, speaks for the tragic circumstances of contemporary poor women, and manages a fun story to boot. Keep them coming! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Huge thanks to HMH for sending me an ARC!
I adore this cozy series so much and appreciate the equal parts research and imagination that goes into creating new adventures for the Kopp Sisters. While this fifth book doesn't focus as much on Constance as it usually does, it was an entertaining read and I'm so excited to see the direction the sisters are headed in next!

jillrhudy I‘m so jealous! I love this series! 5y
kyraleseberg @jillrhudy It's another fun story! It focuses less on the sisters and doesn't advance their story as much as the past books have but it looks like things will be picking back up! 5y

This ARC showed up at just the right time. I love the Kopp Sisters & definitely need a comfort read in the midst of all these big changes!

The Kopp sisters and I would be friends in real life. On the eve of US involvement in WWI, the sisters attend a women's training camp. Each faces unique challenges as she grows into her new role. There is a mysterious woman in their midst.
