The perfect marriage… or the perfect Lie!
Jack Angel, spotted Grace in the park and knew he had finally found ‘THE ONE‘ he had to have her, He is The perfect gentleman, Beautiful to look at and a career defending women suffering from domestic violence and he never loses. Grace can‘t believe her luck , but looks can be deceiving, a wolf in sheep‘s clothing, just like the devil masquerade‘s as an angel of light everything changes after the vows 👹
In my quest to read all of B.A. Paris‘ books, the fifth book I picked up was her debut. And it may be my favorite one yet. I devoured it in one night.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you are into domestic, psychological thrillers (which I didn't realize I was 😂), this book is for you!
Grace is bamboozled into marrying a man who gets off on the fear of others.
When he sets his sights on her sister, who has Down Syndrome, Grace realizes she needs to figure out her escape and fast!
I loved this!
2023 enjoy this author…, always full of surprises especially when you think you have figured it out!!
Do you ever look at people and make up stories about what their lives are like? This couple appears perfect from the outside, but what goes on behind closed doors is far from it. If you‘re expecting a true suspense novel you may be disappointed — this is a thriller in the sense that there is danger but the ‘secret‘ is out early on. I was mostly entertained and thought the chapters (all titled ‘Past‘ or ‘Present‘) came together nicely in the end.
This one was…ok. Great ending, and I enjoyed the character development between Grace and Esther. The middle was all the same. By the time I was ambivalent to finishing I was more than half way through so I certainly wasn‘t going to quit.
My new favorite book of 2022.
From the very first chapter to the very last page, Behind Closed Doors kept my attention. It is a suspenseful, thought-provoking thriller with some psychological and mystery components that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are several turns and twists that keep you guessing the entire time.
I really liked this book and would suggest it to anyone who enjoys thrillers.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Despite the slow start this book really ended up being a solid read. This is the second book I‘ve read by this author and she crafts great characters. Although the ending wasn‘t a surprise, the journey to get there was entertaining.
Loved this book! Fast paced and such a quick read. I listened to it via Libby, and the narrator is great!
TW: This book contains elements and themes of domestic violence.
"Pretending to be broken would be much harder, simply because it was in my nature to fight back."
Just started this book and am LOVING it!!!
Started a bit slow but I still couldn't put it down! Millie was my favorite!
Book 103🎧 5⭐️
Ok so my first B A Paris (Bring Me Back) let me down, which I was not expecting.
But OH BOY does this one ever redeem it!!👏🏻👏🏻 The twists, the deception, the wit👌🏻
Is Jack too good to be true? The perfect husband?
Oh yeah, fuck George Clooney🖕🏻
It was good, it was suspenseful in the beginning but ending was predictable and i figured it out...
I am surprised this book was a bestseller. Don‘t get me wrong, I wouldn‘t say it was a bad book. I would recommend it to thriller fans as worth reading. It is definitely a unique concept but as I continued reading, the story just felt stretched and “try hard”. It took me a long time to get through this book as I didn‘t feel compelled to pick it up most nights. The story didn‘t captivate me until 3/4 of the way in. I was happy with the ending
How does one describe the sensation and the overwhelming feeling when you turn the final page of a really good book? Time for the next book…
Honestly this book was too short. I wanted more. Love the concept. Super creepy but such a great hook. Definitely recommend for a good thriller

+Uhmmm.. It was infuriating to read. But I'm honestly glad that it was over. 😂 I almost DNF, but since it was my friend's recommendation, I should at least try to finish it.
+Also, there's a lot of plot holes. The ending was predictable and satisfying. If you like domestic thriller, this book is for you.

Could not put this book down! Can't reveal anything incase I include any spoilers.
A twisted and suspenseful page turner! I can‘t say anything more for fear of giving spoilers.

A fast paced psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns that kept me wanting more. There are trigger warnings in this book for domestic abuse and animal cruelty so not for anyone sensitive to these topics. 3 ⭐️
10-28-21: My 108th finished book of 2021! This one really unnerved me. Jack Angel seems like the perfect man to Grace until he isn‘t. That‘s all I can say without giving anything away. Tense and terrifying this one will stay with me for awhile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣0️⃣8️⃣
I finished this the other day and it really only took me 3 "sittings". We can all guess the premise, that's obvious enough but I think there were a few twists that kept it intriguing and also added a *more* disturbing air to it.
This book evoked lots of anger in me!! I did enjoy it, I guess that‘s odd, but lots of trigger warnings!!

Tried a new local independent bookstore. Love the location but the selection was rather sparse.
I know this one has been used several times. It‘s one of my favorite books despite living in a similar for almost 3years… ***lots of trigger warnings ***

I know this one is a fan favorite but it was just okay for me. I feel like the author missed really hard with the 'excited by violence' part. Rarely is violence not associated with sexual arousal or gratification. She seemed uncomfortable writing about this aspect & it's unbelievable that he just held people captive to 'scare' them. There were just a lot of elements that required me to suspend reality.
I'm glad I held off ordering The Therapist.

Today‘s Prompt: MANIPULATES
Talk about manipulating and control....Jack is a master at it.
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS was quite intense and had such an extremely scary, chilling plot that you won't be able to read it except in broad daylight.

Amazing book! I was not able to put it down, the way it is written and the way the story catches up on itself is amazing! I‘ve seen some people complain that the book is badly written or has a bad story, and maybe for someone who have read a lot of books it might come across like that. but for me, someone who hasn‘t read a lot of books thinks it‘s absolutely heartbreaking, well written, good attention catcher and overall a good book!
What a great audiobook!! This is one of those that made WANT to find more things to do around the house so I could keep listening to it. So crazy..I wanted to know how this was going to end. I could not imagine being in the position Grace was in. A suspenseful read (or listen) - definitely recommend.
💛💛💛 An enjoyable read about a not so 'perfect marriage'. I felt like it gave up the secrets of the plot very quickly and then progressed to a fairly predictable ending
You think your marriage is stable, but you might not know that a man can become a different person when he becomes a husband...😱😳🤯

Whew, this was a ride! Not your typical domestic thriller whatsoever! Grace and Jack seemingly have it all, the perfect marriage, but what is really happening behind closed doors? It ain't good I can tell ya that!
I enjoyed the pacing and read quickly to find out the outcome. The story was a little wordy and redundant at times and slightly predictable. A quick read and a nice change of pace in domestic thrillers.
