@BookishMarginalia is in mystery lover‘s heaven right now. She was in awe of the selection of Oscar Wilde mysteries by Gyles Brandreth, but ended up stroking the Frances Brody mysteries.

Sitting on the sunporch listening to the last hour of this one. It was a little slow, & the murderer was pretty obvious. I still liked it though. Sometimes we need books that aren‘t too heavy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our ky weather has been either rainy or on the edge of raining for about 5 days, which has made trying to walk interesting. It‘s also not helped my mood. Went to a park today that has a walking trail. 2nd walk of the #BFC week. Listening to the tagged book (went with the British title).

I really enjoyed reading this! I love Oscar Wilde and Arthur Conan Doyle, so I had a great time reading this Sherlock Holmes-type story in which Wilde and Conan Doyle are friends and solve mysteries. I'm so glad I ordered the entire series from Thriftbooks!

Saturday morning #coffeeandabook before my mom comes over to visit and have breakfast. I'm enjoying this Sherlock Holmes-ish book about Oscar Wilde and Arthur Conan Doyle solving mysteries.

This book was a so-so for me. I was kind of bored in the beginning and found myself skimming. I was really annoyed by Oscar Wilde and his over the topness and bipolar like tendencies. I know nothing about Wilde and if that‘s how he really was or if it‘s just embellishment. The second half of the book picked up for me and enjoyed the book. I didn‘t like how much like Sherlock he was, especially with Doyle in the story. #FreakyFriday - 1st one done!

Can't do my #LRC book as I'm hoping to get it out of my library and so haven't read it yet, but here is one that I #judgedbyitscover, and I'm so glad I did! @RealLifeReading #MarchintoReading. Will tag my #LRC book in the comments.

I wanted to like this book a lot more than I did. I can't put my finger on why. I love that era. I love the premise of this and the other Wilde mysteries in the series, which has Oscar Wilde & real-life friends & contemporaries involved in fictional mysteries. For instance Conan Doyle is in here, and Bram Stoker is in a later book. Maybe the later books improve? It did pique my interest in learning more about Wilde himself beyond basic knowledge.

Getting started late on my #litsypartyofone! Came back from dinner with hubby (he travels for work almost every week, so Fri nights we reconnect). Now I can relax with some of my current reads 📚 and a Left Hand Milk Stout. Fun times! I'll probably be heading to bed soon after the drink's done, though 😊! Right now it's almost 10:30pm 😴

It kind of sucks that I've been having to use the laundromat these past few weeks, but at least I have this new-to-me mystery to start reading and a $1.75 pizza slice from next door. Not a big fan of real people being fictional sleuths but I love Oscar Wilde, so...and did you know he and Arthur Conan Doyle (also in here) were good friends IRL? I didn't until now.

Und natürlich darf Wilde auch reichlich clevere Aphorismen anbringen. ?

Oscar Wilde and his friend, Arthur Conan Doyle, together with Robert Sherard (the great grandson of Wordsworth) investigate a crime in this historical murder series! How fabulous can it be! The plot is zany in this chilling Victorian tale. I love the premise, it's a fun read, but it wasn't as suspenseful as I hoped it would be and there wasn't very much detection going on. On the positive side, I like Wilde with his endless supply of witticisms.

If you are looking for a light murder mystery, then you will probably really enjoy this series. As the title suggest, Oscar Wilde a main character, and so the book is filled with his witticisms. In this book, a young friend of Oscar's is killed and he tries to solve the murder.
