Loved this one! It's hard to describe. It feels like a part historical/wild west, part sci-fi and part dystopian world where the Welcome Houses (brothels) where they take mostly the lower class girls that have been sold off. The book follows a group of the “Good Luck Girls“ on the run of their lifetime.

I'm loving both Silence for the dead and The Good Luck Girls!

Great read! I felt attached to the characters and there stories. I loved the western setting. I don‘t think I‘ve ever read a western before. I don‘t think I can do a plot summary because it‘s too complex to describe, but this was a really good book. 5⭐️ Also, what a great cover!

4th audiobook completed for February!! The Good Luck Girls is an epic story of 5 girls on the run from the law. Law and right are not the same and this book dives deep into a cruel and brutal land known as the Scab. Dust bloods spend their lives in the mines being worked to the bone to feed their families. The families are offered a better life for their daughters in the shiny welcome houses. But that shiny life is not what is promised. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Overall it started great, but I lost interest in the middle.

I cant wait to start this.

This alternate version of the Old West with magical tattoos and forced prostitution was compelling even though it starts with my least favorite literary device (dramatic moment and then we back up to earlier, in this case just earlier in the day). But this band of folks working together to escape and survive was great. And there was enough resolution that I won't die waiting for the next book.
Content: sex trafficking, mention of suicide

My sentiments regarding The Good Luck Girls mirror the rest of the groups so far... I liked it fine, but didn't love it. I'll get it in the mail for @cwarnier on Monday! @kellyann28 The next book arrived yesterday as well - thanks! @TheBookKeepers

This bordered on being so-so to a pick for me. The Goodreads blurb says this is Westworld meets Handmaid's Tale and besides a "Wild West" background this is NOTHING Like Westworld. They need to scrub that off the blurb ? #LMPBC

I just started this today, only about 75 pages in and it‘s not really grabbing me. Should I keep going or bail?

In the mood for a fun Girl Gang book but can‘t decide between these... have any of you read/loved them? Any other good girl band suggestions?

I remember reading the summary and thinking “what's up with so many people accidentally killing others“ but I can totally get behind the purposeful killing of the thug at the beginning. Loved the topics it covered. While they are serious, the book isn't too heavy and is digestible. The characters are all developed well enough that they didn't blur together and Charlotte somehow made me not hate Violet by the end of it which is a task on it's own.

I'm back home! It'll take me the week to catch up on my reviews and life but I had a pretty good trip AND I SCORED A FLOORSEAT to one of BTS's Toronto shows in May! 🥰

Overall, this book was fantastically adventurous, and phenomenally feminist. The setting was exciting and absorbing, and the characters were complex and believable. I would recommend this book to fans of Samantha Shannon's Bone Season series and Wynonna Earp,

Forced to make a run for it, Clementine and Aster find themselves with a group of girls ready to do what it takes to fight their way to freedom.

I loved the fresh idea of the Favors and how the world was like the Wild West. The mythology in this the story worked to create a wonderful world that felt like an old western, dystopian, fantasy novel and go figure it worked out as one of the best titles that I have read this year.

Overall, this story was beautifully written with a creepy scary world and amazing strong women as characters. The fight for freedom has never been tougher.

Aster, Clementine, Tansy, Mallow, Violet. Loved the world building and characters, including Zee. The book was about the Good Luck Girls, and all the horrors that actually entailed. A wonderful mix of dystopian and western, with a strong dollop of survival, friendship, coming of age, responsibility, and adventure. Aster has so much more to do, and there‘s Violet, and I really want book two now so I know what‘s next! More please!

Wow what a powerful read. This was a really interesting story. I loved the premise of the story and the epic journey across the lands. The ending was perfect for the story and left me wanting more of the girls especially Aster. The story was well written and the writing was so descriptive. I would like to know more about the different types of people in the world though. #readersfirst

"The Good Luck Girls" had a great opening and I also liked the ending, but I got lost somewhere in the middle. It was an enjoyable read and I'd recommend this for adventure fans or someone looking for a more contemporary Wild West type story – 3 stars.

The Good Luck Girls is an Adventure seeking revenge type of story. It is said that it reminds people of the Handmaids Tale set in the Wild wild west. Well it's more wild wild West then it is Handmaids Tale. With that being said I still enjoyed this story written by debut author Charlotte Nicole Davis.

#netgalley gave me access to this book, and I can‘t wait to dive in. #TheGoodLuckGirls summary definitely drew me in, as well as that cover. Described as Westworld meets The Handmaids Tale, I‘m intrigued and probably not getting much sleep tonight.

I have been eyeing this book so hard. I finnally pre-ordered it when they had a tote bag incentive. I was going to buy it anyway, but now I wont have to remember. It feels like a sci-fi western. Like Gunslinger Girl, or Firefly.
