pickAfter reading The Lesser Dead I added a bunch of Buehlmans to my tbr. These are the perfect “easy” listens if you‘re not bothered by horror and a bit of gore (oh yeah and casual racism- this is basically set in the confederate south- I‘d say that‘s the scariest thing in the book).
pickAt first I thought this was going to be about vampires, but turns out it was about werewolves. Which I wasn't disappointed about because honestly, vampires can be played out. I found that the time period in which this takes place made for a better read.

pickIt‘s 1937. Frank and his wife, Eudora have moved to small town Whitbrow. They are a couple who have a healthy sex life. Like every other page, lol. They moved to Whitbrow so that Frank could write about his grandfather, a slaveowner who was killed by slaves when he refused to free them. As he finds more about his granddad‘s land, he finds out it is not safe. Not safe past the river. A nice werewolf book, I definitely got the creeps. Pick!

panThis book is racist. It‘s a story that doesn‘t need to be told by a white man.
So the narrator of this is pretty terrible, but I‘m desperate to have something to listen to at work today. I also hope it isn‘t set in the time it was to just be a racist novel (since it kinda feels like that right now.) It is about inheriting a plantation so... let‘s see?

I finished up my first audiobook for this reading challenge. It was a random pick from the Horror section on Overdrive.
The story had an intriguing premise with a town being threatened by something, or someone, living across the river from the town. Parts of it were creepy, other parts felt rushed and weird.
Not a bad book, just not quite a pick for me.

pickLove the beautiful inlay of this book. In 1940s Georgia a writer and his lover hide away in a backwoods town whose step into modernity involves dispensing with certain pagan customs. The result is a horrifying and surprising bloodbath. I found much to appreciate as a horror story.
Bought a book today which I‘m excited about! It was on NPR‘s 100 best horror stories list. BUT I then had the urge to go through all the books we‘ve got in the last year or so and HAVEN‘T read....32 is what I came to. Which is about equal to the number of books I‘ve read. 😑 How do you balance? #consumerism #mortality

This book is turning out to be nothing like what I expected. I have about 70 pages left, and I still can't decide what I think of it (probably because it's taken me by such surprise!).

so-soI love a good thriller. Except when it deals with something that isn't realistic. This was a horror genre, not necessarily thriller in my humble opinion. 😐
