Lemon Meringue Pie Murder
Lemon Meringue Pie Murder | Joanne Fluke
18 posts | 38 read | 10 to read
The residents of Lake Eden, Minnesota, are planning to paint the town red, white, and blue to celebrate the Fourth of July--but the fireworks are already going off at Hannah Swensen's bake shop, The Cookie Jar. . . Lemon Meringue Pie Murder Hannah Swensen thought she'd finally discovered the recipe for a perfect life. But her sometime beau Norman Rhodes tosses a surprise ingredient into the mix when he phones to tell her he's just bought a house from local drugstore clerk Rhonda Scharf--which he plans to tear down in order to build the dream home he and Hannah designed. It seems the plan has been cooking for quite some time, and Hannah's shocked. Especially since her ring finger is still very much bare. . . The good news is that the soon-to-be-torn-down house is full of antiques--and Norman has given Hannah and her mother first dibs. They uncover some gorgeous old furniture, a patchwork quilt. . .and Rhonda Scharf's dead body. A little more sleuthing turns up the half-eaten remains of a very special dinner for two--and one of The Cookie Jar's famous lemon meringue pies. Now it's up to Hannah to turn up the heat--and get busy tracking down clues. Starting in her very own kitchen. . . Includes nine original cookie and dessert recipes for you to try! "Fun. . .frothy. . .Enticing recipes for cookies and other treats, presented with helpful procedural hints, are an extra bonus." --Publishers Weekl

It‘s funny how this series has lots of features that turn me off yet I always eat them up and I‘ll definitely continue the series.

2 things… I don‘t need intense dieting advice in any book, but DEFINITELY not in a cookie themed cosy. Aren‘t we all here for the desserts? Hannah judges ‘promiscuous‘ women while dating two men who both want to be exclusive but she won‘t. Do what you need my girl but why are we being mean about other women?

MissyD Love Joanne fluke‘s mysteries. 5mo

These are light, fluffy & fast. They‘re perfect for my 89 year old mom who‘s starting to struggle with memory issues. We‘ve always enjoyed reading together.

I can‘t quite figure out why I keep reading these, especially the early ones in the series, but they are a quick read and sometimes so utterly ridiculous that at least they‘re good for a laugh I guess? Anyway, this was my book that includes a recipe for #Booked2022. Has anybody tried any of the cookie recipes? Are they good??!

3⭐️ A nice fluffy cozy mystery. I keep coming back to series because I just like Hannah and that she‘s not your typical baker and if such a shop existed in my town, I probably would frequent it. #2022 #fiction #mystery #bookreview #bookstagram #contemporary #hannahswenson #litsyatoz #l #litsyatoz2022 #ebook

Yes! Off the hold list on #libby

What's your favorite Hannah Swenson? @Arvena

NovelGirl82 I‘m only up to The Blackberry Pie Murder, which I think is 17? I just got it from the library yesterday! I have all of the Hallmark movies too, and wish they‘d make more. (edited) 3y
emz711 @NovelGirl82 there's movies!!?! 3y
NovelGirl82 @emz711 Yes! Hallmark channel made 5! They don‘t exactly follow the books, of course, but they‘re fun😊 If you have a Vudu account, you can get them there. The first 4 come in a bundle and the 5th is separate. Just search for Murder She Baked. 3y

This cozy mystery was entertaining. Love Hannah Swensen but this time she had me wondering if this book was going to be a sequel. It is a little slower that the others.

This is the next installment in the Hannah Swensen series by Joanne Fluke. Collected it and is saving for the weekend.

In my discoveries I found out that the author of this series and the author of the Stephanie Plum series Janet Evanovich are both born in the same year.

3/5 stars. I keep reading these books because I‘m invested in the characters, and i like to see if i can figure out who the killer is before Hannah can, but this book just took forever! She didn‘t figure it out until the last chapter, and there was such a build up that i felt a little let down.

Here's the thing... I enjoy these stories immensely. I cannot stand Hannah Swensen. She's a horrible girlfriend, and a judgemental human being. I keep hoping she'll pull her head out of her ass and be decent, but it hasn't happened yet. She was okay in the first book but 2-4 have shown her to be a two-faced little nitwit. I'm undecided if I'll be reading more of this series.

ReadingEnvy What do you like, the food themed mysteries? 7y
CoveredInRust @ReadingEnvy I like any cozy, really. I just dislike this heroine. 7y
ReadingEnvy Have you ever tried the tea shop mysteries by Laura Childs? I like the heroine in those. 7y

CoveredInRust @ReadingEnvy Yes! I loved the first one and am continuing them. The setting in that one is perfect, too! 7y
ReadingEnvy @CoveredInRust yes the setting is everything in those.. and every occasion has the perfect tea of course 7y
melbeautyandbooks I totally agree. There is another series that is much better than this one. I heard about it from @DebinHawaii. I tagged the first book in the series below. 7y

So inspired to bake while reading Joanne Fluke. This one was set in summer, but I love to read these between more serious, slow books. I must be getting the hang of it though, cause I figured out the murderer about half way in.

Dolly That book makes me want to go out and get pie. 😋 I totally get what you mean about reading these light books between others. I do it too and keep these books on hand just for that purpose and call them 'palate cleansers'. 7y
SaraFair @Dolly - Yes! And I am most recently reading more palate cleansers than books that are heavy. 7y
LauraBeth I feel encouraged to go bake something now 😀 7y
