These two fit this months #TitlesAndTunes prompt #SexDrugsAndRockAndRoll perfectly! Led Zep were the embodiment of that phrase & Kashmir is a perfect song to pick. I grew up with two big brothers who were stoner headbangers in the 70s/80s so know their music well. The book is the memoir of a groupie in the 60s/70s including her relationship with Jimmy Page. One of my favourite rock memoirs of all time🤘

Des Barres ‘wrote the book‘ on this topic...
#MarchIntoThe70s #Day14 #HeartOfGold Almost at the halfway point already! Time flies when you listen to great music This is the memoir of the original “bandaid”,that Kate Hudson‘s character in Almost Famous was based on. Pamela started as a Beatles tragic then a school friend introduced her to Captain Beefheart. She was Frank Zappa‘s nanny, close to The Byrd‘s & spent time with Gram Parsons, Keith Moon, Jim Morrison & Jimmy Page just to name a few.
#bookmail. I read the original version of this back in the 80s but I never actually owned it. It was, without a doubt, the raciest memoir our little one room, only open 3 days a week, small town library had. For a girl obsessed with that “devil music” (🙄), it was one of my favorite books during high school. So excited to see a rerelease and hope it‘s as fun as I remember!
From the TBR: Kate Hudson used Des Barres' memoirs as a source of inspiration before playing #PennyLane in Cameron Crowe's semi-autobiographical film Almost Famous (although the character was based off a different group of girls Crowe met while working as a teenaged music journalist for Rolling Stone).

(PS: Cindy, if you're looking for co-hosts for any upcoming months, I'd love to co-host a Canadian themed month!)
#LitsyClassics #MayLovesClassics #day13 #Memoir This will always be my favourite memoir! Pamela Des Barres was an original groupie in the 60s, the character of Penny Lane in the movie Almost Famous is loosely based on her. Her saving grace I think, and what almost certainly saved her from the fate of others, is her sense of joy & if not innocence, then definitely sweetness. She was also nanny to Frank Zappa‘s children & part of a girlband too.☮️✌️
1. The tagged book. Pamela Des Barres was one of the original rock groupies in the 60s through till the 80s.
2. Jeff Buckley. Voice to make an angel cry, gone far far too soon.
3. Big name was Ryan Adams at The Enmore. Unknown name was a friend of the hubby had his 40th at his property & a band played in front of the bonfire, acoustic guitars & singer. Mesmerizing,
4. Misfits-Cold Chisel

#FallIntoBooks #day27 #Raw It doesn't get much more raw than this honest, and joyful, memoir about Pamela Des Barres time as a groupie in the 60s/70s. She was an intimate of many famous musicians including Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, Keith Moon, Noel Redding and for a time was Don Johnsons girlfriend. She pulls no punches, describes everything that happened as she saw it and is ashamed of none of it. I really enjoyed this book.
#FunFridayPhoto I've posted this before, but hands down this is my favourite memoir of all time. I'm fascinated with that whole era and Miss Pamela makes it sound so amazing, such innocence & the feeling you could do anything. Her absolute joy & wonder at being part of the music scene at its heyday in LA is captivating, babysitting Frank Zappas kids, sitting at The Troubadour listening to The Doors or going to the "Riot House" with Jimmy Page.?
#FunFridayPhoto A memoir I totally enjoyed is this one by the original 60s groupie, Miss Pamela. She has such an unbridled enthusiasm for music and the men who made it, from Keith Moon to Jimmy Page, Frank Zappa & Noel Redding. She hung out with Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix & Jim Morrison and never lost that innocence & joy that makes her stand out from a lot of groupies that came after her. She's unashamed and proud of being female and I love her.❤️
I haven't posted in forever- but back into the swing now! I am loving this so far.....I have nothing but the doors on replay since starting- oh to have been around in the 60's! 😍😍
#augustofpages #augustphotochallenge #day21 #booksandmusic I love my music as much as I love my books. I have a huge cd collection,2ipods full plus Spotify & Pandora. Though I'm pretty eclectic in my tastes(Marilyn Manson to Mozart)I have a keen interest in 60s&70s Rock. My favourite from this stack is Pamela Des Barres' autobiography about being a groupie during the decades of peace & love. Much better than Almost Famous, though I love that too.
