Shopaholic to the Stars: A Novel | Sophie Kinsella
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERSophie Kinsella returns to her beloved Shopaholic series with Becky Brandon (ne Bloomwood) newly arrived in Hollywood and starry-eyed. She and her two-year-old daughter, Minnie, have relocated to L.A. to join Beckys husband, Luke, who is there to handle PR for famous actress Sage Seymour. But she really hopes to become a personal stylistSages personal stylistif only Luke would set up an introduction. Then, unexpectedly, Becky is offered the chance to dress Sages archrival, and though things become a bit more complicated, its a dream come true! I thoroughly enjoyed this book but wished I knew it was no7 of the series . When I picked this book up I don‘t realise that it was part of series until I started reading it. I will definitely go back to the start of the series to find out the references to the earlier books. It also ends leading into the next book with a lot of questions which I find a little frustrating but will read it to find out

I was a bit disappointed to see how little character growth we have seen during the series. It feels like Becky is going nowhere and behaves similarly day after day even though she has seen how badly things go then.

This wasn't as fun as I thought this would be. I also hated how people treated each other in film industry and how Becky still wanted to be one them.

This was still light to read and I was entertained.

This is exactly what I imagined Hollywood would be like. Lots of people in amazing dresses, and Meryl Streep, and a band playing smooth jazz, and delicious citrussy cocktails.

It‘s a weird place, LA. I can‘t quite get a grip on it. It‘s not like European cities, where you get to the centre and think, Ah yes, here I am in Milan/Amsterdam/Rome. In LA you drive around endless great big roads and you peer out of the windows and think, ‘Are we there yet?‘

I started this series in 2020. Put it down for a bit but picked up this one again. They are quick and addicting reads. Sophie Kinsella sucks in with each chapter that you just want to know what happens next. This was not my favorite because there is a big cliffhanger however I‘m still excited to read then next one and not have to wait for it to be released. So I‘ll read it next on my list. The main character is so over the top. It‘s a fun escape.

ShananigansReads Awww I loved Becky Bloomwood so much. 🥰 (edited) 3y
maich @Bookjunkie57 Which book is your favourite? 3y
ShananigansReads @maich looks like I rated books 1-5 five star but this was way before I kept notes and wrote review. My first instinct is to say Shopaholic and Sister though. 3y
maich @Bookjunkie57 I didn't rated them, read them before I found Goodreads and Litsy😊 But I liked them. My fave is Shopaholic and her baby. 3y
ShananigansReads @maich that‘s my second choice. 3y

4⭐️ I started reading the Shopaholic series back in either 2001 or 2002 and while I cringe each time I read a book in the series, I nonetheless appreciate the series and have enjoyed each one of the six previous books that I have read. This one was the same but after a month were I was mainly reading difficult things, this was a nice way to end the month. #2020 #bookreview #bookstagram #fiction #contemporary

Have only read the first in this series, but remembered that the German title is "Shopaholic in Hollywood" (or so).

Cinfhen I loved this series but stopped reading them after they got married. 5y

I was just thinking how much I enjoyed the book swap I participated in last year, and thinking about participating again. Only I have NO IDEA how to find these book swaps :$ I was hoping the lovely people of litsy could point me in the right direction of book swaps that are happening soon! (Ps. I live in Canada) #bookswap #friendsoflitsy #canada

Love Sophie Kinsella for a light summer read, but was not prepared for a cliffhanger! Heads up if this is on your list, you'll want to have the next book in the series lined up!

I think I'm 'kinsella'd-out. Becky bloomwood antics were adorable for the first 6 books but now it's kinda tiring and forced..
