My partner had some time off work so we got back into the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton. This is book 4 and I believe the book I stop at the last time I picked the series up.
I really enjoyed this one and am excited to continue.
What did you think of when you read this one if you have?

Being a professional necromancer and vampire hunter Anita Blake tends to be a shoot first ask questions later kinda gal. She takes no mess and is always prepared to fight her way out of any trouble.🗡
April 2021 - rereading continues with the series - just enjoying the badassery
My review of this book can be found on my Youtube Vlog at:

Enjoy!
Book 1 down!
So far this might actually be my favourite in the series but the "will she, won't she" is driving me nuts. I'm totally #TeamRichard ?
Set over Christmas, this is totally counting as a #HolidayRead

It's after midnight and I can't sleep so I'm officially starting my first book of the #WinterGames
Looks like it's set around Christmas so I might end up with more #HolidayReads than I thought by the time I'm done 🎄

I‘m trying to do an epic reread of the Anita Blake series, but was LKH‘s writing always this tortured? I know I end up hate reading every new book that comes out, but I was hoping to rekindle my love for the characters. Instead it‘s just a bunch of eye rolling. And still, she persisted.
Bk1 of my #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon is done. This has never been one of my favourites, it is one of her best written, but it introduces Raina & Gabriel who is love to grab through the page and punch. I‘ll give Laurell props for being able to write such hateful characters, Raina is right up there with both Lena & Angie from Karin Slaughters books. All three are like the Mean Girls of fiction. At least this is before the series goes downhill.
First up for my #LizpixiesLongWeekend #readathon is Bk4 in Hamiltons Anita Blake series. This book introduces the various shapeshifter communities in St Louis, werewolf‘s, wereleopards, swans & rats etc. Someone is abducting lycanthropes, after 8 go missing, they come to Anita to look into the disappearances. But not everyone wants her to succeed. It also introduces Gretchen, Jean-Claudes vampire stalker. A nutcase who wants Anita dead.
These books seem to not only be getting darker but also more gruesome and frank depraved. This was my least favorite book of the series so far. I am going to continue reading and I hope that the elements of this book that I did not like do not make a reappearance.
The Lunatic Cafe by Laurell Hamilton
p.s Anita Blake needs a good slapping.
My advice choose the werewolf you will live longer!
On to The Lunatic Cafe 🐺 I remember really enjoying this one first time round.

Some days selfcare is curling up in bed with a cat and a good book at 8:30pm.
Well that picked up fast. Damn.
I‘ve been slowly listening to this. It‘s still really good but I want to start slowly getting them in physical form so I can read or listen.
Gretchen from the Anita Blake series has a lot in common with Frankenstein's Monster -- she is angry with Anita and very vengeful.
Sadly there were no pictures of Gretchen that I could find.

When it comes to #UnconvincingCouples, Anita and Richard are at the top of my list. I've felt that their relationship, even before everything went sideways, felt forced and desperate. Also, I hate Richard.

Werewolf pack problems. Vampire drama. Disappearances. Murders. Really this one had a little bit of everything. And it was pure entertainment. More than once during this audiobook I would sit in the living room and tune out the world; I skipped the little tv I usually watch and gave up some of my regular reading time so I could listen to this. I really do love this crew. It's not perfect but it's definitely entertaining.
