Very good book!

I initially chose it as a replacement to the ACOTAR/ CC series because I was literally HUNG OVER from reading them all. I had heard they were a great replacement for the time being.

Great world setting, a mix of vampires, gods and other magically gifted individuals. Poppy starts to become aware and awakens from the world she is living in naturally from the help of Hawke.

🌶🌶

Gotta be a bit harsh here… bc I love fantasy and there are so many amazing books out there!! Honestly, my whole fam hyped up this book, and I went thru it fairly quickly, considering it is lonnng. It didn‘t rly spike my interest enough that I wanna read the whole series, tho. The world building was kinda underwhelming! Also, plot lines were predictable and, lastly, there was way too much romancing for me.

Vansa It's not that great or original, really. Gets a lot of hype from BookTok! I found Only A Monster by Vanessa Len and The Stardust thief by Chelsea Abdullah much more unique, and better written. 3y
Nalbuque @Vansa yes! It just felt formulaic: class war, romance, betrayal, “twist” ending. I haven‘t read the ones you mentioned but imma add to my tbr list! I couldn‘t help com paring this one to Sabaa Tahirs or Chakrabortys works which I rly enjoyed 3y

Intense. This was so intense that sometimes I found myself reading aloud and gasping. I remember reading one part that even made me blush... I cannot wait to read the second book. I don't want to give too much away and I haven't figured out how to explain it without some serious spoiler alerts. I will say, I felt such a vast array of emotions that this books left me speechless.

Book 1 in a series. This was a decent read. Great world building and characters but there was just something missing and I‘m not sure what. I normally love this authors work but it just felt like I said something was missing.

Okay, y‘all, this was much raunchier than I was anticipating. Why?? I don‘t know— it‘s a low key vampires/werewolves plot, and those always have sexual undertones. But I was naive and didn‘t prepare myself. Plot was good, characters are for the most part good, but a decent amount of explicit sex scenes. Pretty YA-angsty, which is fine if that‘s what you‘re into! Probably won‘t be reading the rest of the series, but glad I read this. 5.5/10

Finally charged my kindle up! I haven‘t really been reading much (at all?). Every time I start a book, I end up DNFing it 😭 Hopefully this time will be different? Depression induced reading slumps are the worst.

Captivating and action-packed, From Blood and Ash is a sexy, addictive, and unexpected fantasy perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Laura Thalassa.

A Maiden…

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy‘s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guard.
