Reading Asia: New Research in Asian Studies | Frans Husken Huskin, Dick van der Meij

I finished #ReadingAsia2021 🎉🎉🎉

It has been quite the challenge, with hard books and bad books, with a lot of good one and with three absolute favorites: the books I read set in Iran, Malaysia, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Most satisfying is that I learned so much about this part of the world and I expect no less of #ReadingAfrica2022!

With #Jordan (Pillars of Salt) and #Qatar (My Life in Doha) finished in November, I have now just the Philippines left to finish #ReadingAsia2021. I saved this one for December to combine my read with #FoodAndLit.

I hope to start and finish my chosen book (America is not the Heart) soon, so I can maybe make an early start with #ReadingAfrica2022!

In July I have made my way though 5 more countries for #ReadingAsia2021:

🔸Timor Leste: The Crossing
🔸Oman: Celestial Bodies
🔸Uzbekistan: A collection of Uzbek short stories
🔸Laos: Mother‘s Beloved
🔸Singapore: Crazy Rich Asians

I have now read 32 out of 44 books so feel comfortable I‘ll manage to finish the challenge.

I can add another 4 countries to my #ReadingAsia2021 challenge:

▪️Taiwan: Notes of a Crocodile
▪️Lebanon: I Remember Beirut
▪️Maldives: Gatecrashing Paradise
▪️Iraq: The Corpse Exhibition

None that I would highly recommend but I am learning a lot! My total halfway through the year is 27 out of 44 so I‘m doing fine!

In March I managed to read 5 more books set in Asia:

🔸Nepal - Into Thin Air
🔸Bahrain - QuixotiQ
🔸Mongolia - The Blue Sky
🔸Pakistan - Basti
🔸North Korea - The Orphan Master‘s Son

This makes 16 so far, I am glad with my progress! I am learning so much again, and am loving this challenge.
