Another great entry into the High Republic series. An excellent mystery surrounding an abandoned space station. Great new species and dangers. Also, Geode is amazing!

*Ace pride alert* 💜🤍🖤 This book has everything: a sentient rock that is somehow extremely compelling, angry gardener droids, statues that may or may not be housing a dark side spirit, and an asexual stoner Han-Solo-type. And I'm only half way through! #ace #asexual #starwars

February's #StarWarsBuddyRead was Into The Dark. I really enjoyed it. Claudia Gray is one of my favorite authors in the new cannon.
What did everyone think? If anyone would like to be added or removed just let me know. And may the force be with you 🔫

📚📚📚 Decent read that correlates along with last months “A Test of Courage” More action and twists for the Jedi & company as they travel to Starlight Beacon but encounter the inciting incident from “Test”. This was an audiobook for me and was well read. #starwarsbuddyread#starwars #highrepublic

I love Claudia Gray's writing. In this story of the High Republic padawan Reath Silas is on his way to join his Master Jora Malli at Starlight Beacon. But The Vessel gets waylaid and struck at a deserted space station instead and then the fun/chaos begins.

It seems like I come to enjoy this series more and more with every book. Right now this one here is my favourite. I loved how Reaths character is developing during the story, Orla is a fascinating character I want to read more about, and Geode is just THE dude! The book also challenges the way the Jedi treat the Dark Side, which I found a very good point and well done by the author. Can't wait for the next book!

TracyReadsBooks Have to agree, Geode is way cool! I‘m reading Midnight Horizon right now—it‘s another great High Republic book! 2y
BookwormAHN Good to hear, I just started it and I'm really enjoying it so far 😺 2y
Jari-chan @TracyReadsBooks I hope we also meet Geode again! And now I'm looking forward to more HR books :) 2y

Hello February! This month's #StarWarsBuddyRead is Into The Dark by Claudia Gray. I'm really looking forward to this one since I've really enjoyed her other Star Wars novels 💚
As always all are welcome to join in and if anyone wants to be tagged or removed just let me know.

Mollyanna I‘d be interested in joining. I‘ve loved everything I read by Timothy Zahn but feel I need to branch out. This looks like a good place to start. Do you need to read the other High Republic books first though? 2y
BookwormAHN @Mollyanna You can since it all takes place in the same time-line but they are all separate novels as well. 2y

BookwormAHN @Mollyanna Also the two you missed were Light of the Jedi and Test of Courage (which was Middle Grade). 2y
Mollyanna Thanks. I was able to get Into the Dark on Hoopla, I‘ll check and see if they have the previous two. Looking forward to expanding my Star Wars universe. 2y

#StarWarsBuddyRead

This is our slate of new releases for this year, but I‘m finding myself not in a Star Wars frame of mind at the moment. Would anyone else be interested in taking over this reading group & posts?

CrowCAH Sorry @Riveted_Reader_Melissa unfortunately I can‘t take on the extra responsibility. I hope you‘re doing well! 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @CrowCAH I‘m fine, just in a reading rut, and I desperately need to free up time to read something in a different vein for awhile. I‘m almost finished with Discworld so I‘m going to stick with that one, I‘m dropping Star Wars, Shakespeare, and Tolkien … one a month was great until it became a lot of men writing similar stuff. I really need to mix it up a bit I think. Make some room for some new authors & new worlds if that makes sense. 2y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @CrowCAH I have new releases from last year that I haven‘t even started yet because I got bogged down in too many group reads. 😂 2y
BookwormAHN I'll do it. I've never taken over one so any tips would be helpful but as Star Wars obsessed as my reading has been I'm up for it 😺 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN Yay! I was hoping someone was up for it. I hate for it to end just because my reading needs a shift. You can copy the tag list above for our group, you can keep the main tag unless you think of a better one. I just used the same backgrounds & updated the selections, if you want, I can post the blank ones for you or you can make your own. Anything I can give you to help get you started, just let me know. But please have fun with⤵️ 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN it and make it your own. Enthusiasm and Star Wars obsessed is just what the group needs, and those are really the only requirements. (edited) 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN Otherwise we were just going in release order of new canon, but you can shift that up any way you want. 2y
BookwormAHN Okay great and yes if you could post a blank one I'll start with that and then see what I like. 2y
CrowCAH @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Understanable. That‘s why I can only do one in person book club and read one of those books every other month, so I can read other books that interest me. 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @CrowCAH both the benefit and downfall of Litsy, too many great reading groups. But hey, I read all the new canon up until now and managed to finish all the Histories of Middle Earth, and over 3/4 of Shakespeare‘s plays before I burned out of them. Still a great accomplishment for me, but it‘s time to mix it up a bit. 2y
NovelGirl82 I‘m so behind because of school last year I‘ll probably burn out by the time I catch up, but we‘ll see I guess! 2y

1. I've blown through a bunch of back-logged comics and graphic novels in the past month, so I'll certainly finish my GR goal.

2. I really want to dig into Salem's Lot, and I'm going to give the High Republic Star Wars line a start.

Patchshank I'll do a star wars buddy read. How far behind am I? I've read some of the comic and none of the novels. 3y

I don‘t even know how to write this review or where to start.

This novel is such an awesome look into new segments of the High Republic era of Star Wars! Wonderful Jedi characters, an interesting trade guild, pilots, and a living rock named Geode!

All around, there are so many emotions presented that show how even Jedi questioned the actions of the Jedi Order during this prosperous time in the history of the Republic.

I definitely recommend!

My first Star Wars book set in the high republic and I was really pleased and relieved to love it. Claudia gray is amazing but I was worried there would be a barrier for me, without the familiar characters. Nothing to worry about! It was gripping and I am looking forward to reading the others. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Got lucky and my library offered me a “skip the line” borrow so I didn‘t have to wait 8 weeks for this one!

I‘m 30% in and So far I am enjoying it, about 5 characters to follow and a pretty simple storyline as well. I like Reath a lot and I‘m curious as to what this dark force is that is a posing a threat. Definitely more exciting than the last Star Wars book I read so I‘m excited to see where it goes.

Claudia Gray never disappoints! This book was everything I hoped it would be: exciting, engrossing and enlightening. I loved all the main Jedi characters and even liked the secondary ones as well. As usual I didn‘t really like the Nihil but that‘s not this authors fault-for some reason SW wants this to be the main “baddie” this era. The rest of the book was 🔥. Loved it!

This is a quote from Master Jora that I like. This book is filled with great quotes. I added Poe in the background because Lord knows he needs to learn from his mistakes 😂
