I am only 100 pages in but Bryce‘s father is this close to catching these hands. The sheer amount of nonsense she and Ruhn put up with from him… if I were them, he‘d already be ashes scattered into the sewers. 🤬

This book was better than the first through the plot but the build up and rollercoaster effect never really happened. That is why I give it a 4 ⭐. Personally, at times Bryce was acting like the main character from TOG and I didn't like that, did not fit into her persona and story. However, I am liking the plot twist at the very end, it makes me look forward to the third book.
Not as engaging as the first, but the spice was good. Almost would say too much, but their chemistry just FITS. End 100 pages upended so much. Tharion and Ithan really stood out. Bryce and Hunts power needing each other is interesting and I want to know why. The emotional impact of Ruhn by the end. Now I like him. Overall, felt like a flesh out of other characters as the mains were uncovering a major mystery. What a twist!! Whole focus change #sjm
5⭐️ yes I‘m a Sarah J. Maas fan, sue me! 😁However, up until recently Throne of Glass was my favorite series. And while Manon is still one of my top-tier characters of all time, I freaking love the Crescent City series. I love all the characters, but I live for the power couple that is Bryce and Hunt. I really can‘t enough, and while I can‘t say for certain book 3 will be read by next mont, it will be read before the end of the year.
Reserved pick — even more than the first in the series, this felt a lot longer than it needed to be. The increase in POVs made it a bit much at times, and the plot(s!) was convoluted. That said, I was intrigued by the big reveal, and there still was a lot of action and mystery that kept things going. I think I need a break from SJM tho!

I have some issues: did I need every side characters romantic baggage? No. Why does Maas insist on writing that the mating bond is rare? Mates everywhere. Also, multiple aliases that start with the letter H? I swear SJM herself was confused part of it. Why is booksta obsessed with Ruhn? he does literal nothing until 90% into book 2. How many times can a characters‘ “heart crack open”?
Did I like it? Sure.
Am I going to read the 3rd? Obviously.
Now that is what a second instalment of a series should be. There is action, intrigue, mystery, and of course, a healthy dose of spicy romantasy to keep you crashing through the chapters. Thank goodness the next book is out in a week or so. 5 ⭐️ read as Maas does it again, another series to become obsessed with.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Once again the whole of this book is completely overshadowed by the ending. What a way to end a book!
I know I took in a lot more on the reread than I did the first time, but right now I could not tell you what it was 😅
Cannot wait for book 3!
Sofie had survived in the Kavalla death camp for two weeks.

Letting Audible read to me as I multitask this morning.
Since I don't anticipate finishing my current read before the year is over (it is 800+ pages & I just started it) it is stat time. I read less books this year than previously but I also read more chunksters (500+ pages) than normal so...
This is the 2nd book in the Crescent City series. Bryce, Hunt, and company continue their lives intending to be normal, inconspicuous, albeit flamboyant, all gorgeous with sex on their minds constantly. Instead, they are drawn to solve the mystery of a dissappearance and discover the source of Asteri power, putting them in more danger than ever.
My EMOTIONS! 💔❤️🩹🤬😢😱🫣🤯🤫⚡️✨💫 This was so good Im just glad I waited to read it and only have to wait another month for book 3 because that ending🫣🤯 Bryce, Hunt and Ruhn and all the characters are just chef kiss perfection. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ loved this so much!
Picked this up the other day. I loved the first book so I have high hopes for this one as well.
My choice for #moon for the #scarathlom phot prompt! #BOOklovers
Ok. What the heck?!?!?! I mean seriously, I‘m still reeling from that ending.
I dnfed House of Sky and Breath back when it released but after reading Fourth Wing I wanted another romantasy to sink my teeth into.
I did enjoy it this go round but it did lag a bit in the middle. But boy that ending made up for it.

HOSaB is going to be hard to beat! Some big hitters are coming though, let's see where this goes!
HOLY GODS!! This book has me SHOOK! This is an absolute nust! The ending will leave you speechless. Cannot recommend this series enough for those who liked ACOTR and TOG this is like a moderb day happy medium of the two
OH MY FUCKING GODDDDDD!!! The ending of this book had me absolutely shook to my core. Fantastic writing and world building and how she brings it all together. The ending left me heartbroken and hopeful AF at the same time. I am so excited to see what comes next from Sarah J Maas.
Alrighty…since the third book has been announced I am going to get to work on the second in the Crescent City series. I‘m so excited to dive back in to the mystical world that Sarah J Maas creates!
Twist and Turns...oh my goodness...
Love, Love, Love (eventhough I do hate Bryce)
The ending before Epilogue...really wow...
I enjoyed this book but there was some pacing issues for me. I would really get into a section and then it would jump away to a different group which bugs me personally. Overall it was a good set up for a second book in a series.
2023 goal- to read the unread books on my bookshelf 🫣 First up is House of Sky and Breath. I started this one several times and stopped because it was a slow start but I‘m getting into it now 🙂
May wasn't the greatest reading month for me...
So I'm picking the best out of the bunch.
House of Sky and Breath is the second book in the Crescent City series. And while I enjoyed the story, I also found it to be a bit to volumnes. It could have been half the size and still get the general story across in my opinion.

@Andrew65
I loved how there were many different mystical/creepy creatures.
I loved the world and this started brilliantly: the first chapter had action and captured my interest. I liked mysterious atmosphere.
After 50 % this was more about smut & romance than the mystery this book started with. This started to feel dragged and I lost my interest. There were some good twists at the end but some weren't really surprising.

OMG for that ending alone, stick it out through this chonker. Some of the best blindsides I can remember come from this author but all the clues were there. I love it, jfc.
Worth restarting this 5 times. Once I got about 200 pages in I was fully invested and this book just melted.
Well, I just finished House of Earth and Sky and have a book hangover. I was thinking of reading something small in between but I NEED to immediately read book 2!!!!#SaraJMaas#CrescentCity
This series is sooo good!!!
Just as good as the others and I cannot wait until the next book is released
I consumed nothing but this book for 3 days, having finally been able to purchase a copy after waiting so long for It's release
Everything Maas writes is epic and wonderful. This new series is no exception. Please please read this if you like fantasy.

The reaction I had with the books last chapter… I‘ve never reacted that way on a book ending. This is pure gold and I‘m living for it. Tears of joy are going down my face and I NEED another book ASAP!!

@Avanders I know I am a day late but do you want to play 😉
Finished this chunkster just in time. I was on the hold list for months and I forgot how long it would take to read the ebook. Bryce has assembled her Scoobies and they‘re determined to uncover all the secrets. There‘s a lot of spice 🌶 - some twists and a cliffhanger- and a surprise. All in all I enjoyed this book, but it‘s obviously a bridge to the next book 📚
This is worth plowing through for the (literally) explosive ending! It feels like a lot of convoluted plotlines in one novel and (this may be an unpopular opinion) I don't love S.J Maas's writing.... However, I appreciate the worlds she builds and the characters that I feel invested in ... so def worth a read, especially if you like/love the ACOTAR series.
Coffee break with Bryce and Hunt. I'm enjoying this but there is a lot to get through ... ❤️
Book 1 re-read, ✔️ . Downloaded book 2, ✔️. Coffee and snuggle bug pets beside me, ✔️... Let's Go!
