I‘m on a roll…. For now 🤣 #hauntedshelf #flerken #wordsearch #crisp @PuddleJumper
This was a decent first in the series (#SeriesLove2024) featuring Agatha Christie‘s housekeeper, Phyllida Bright. It was a Christie meets Upstairs/Downstairs. I liked Bright and the other characters and look forward to more in the series.
I‘ve been halfway to a reading slump for weeks now so I decided I‘d pick something uncomplicated to read and hope it jogs me out of it.
This was just okay. Phyllida Bright works for Agatha Christie and is also her friend. She loves Poirot, and when a murder happens at Mallowan Hall, she takes it upon herself to try to solve it Poirot style. Unfortunately, this book is pretty boring. There‘s far too much detail about the everyday tasks and clothing of the staff. Bright‘s Poirot-like villain and motive reveal speech at the end is far too long, pretentious, and boring.
The tagged book is really my nighttime book, but I hadn‘t yet picked a new walking book, so I listened to it on my #audiowalk today. I started reading North Woods while we were at the beach; its structure is really interesting. Agent to the Stars is our road trip book — it‘s about an agent who discovers his new job is to introduce a friendly, but ugly and stinky, alien race to humans. We are loving it.

This a mystery novel set in the home of Agatha Christie, Mallowan Hall, in the 1930s. Phyllida Bright, is the head of household/housekeeper. One morning, she discovers a dead body in the library during a house party. Another murder follows, and Phyllida decides to investigate the case herself as she is dissatisfied with the local police‘s handling of the case.
Phyllida is the housekeeper (head of the servant team) at Agatha Christie‘s estate when a visiting guest is found murdered in the library. Phyllida takes it upon herself to investigate to try to solve the crime. This was a fun book in a Downton Abbey-type setting. I would read this author again!
Hair stylist reading! It‘s been almost a year since my last cut/color and I‘m in desperate need.
4✨This Agatha Christie style mystery actually had Agatha Christie in it. A murder of an unknown, at first, man is found in the library. Christie‘s housekeeper, Phyllida, spots a lot of the clues missed by law enforcement. Very well done! I was not fully engaged the entire time, but enjoyed the book a lot. #Scarathon #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
Another book on my TBR “Murder” #ScarathonDailyPrompt #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
Lots of good “M” books! I snort-laughed through this first installment of a mystery series. 😂
Honorable mention: A Man Called Ove; Meet Me in the Margins; The Myth of Perpetual Summer.

Anyone want to play? 😊
This is a fictional book from the point of view of the staff working at Agatha Christie‘s home with her 2nd husband.
A stranger shows up and the next morning is found murdered. The housekeeper decides to solve the murder because she doesn‘t believe the police can.
This gives Agatha some “ideas” for her books.
It was a fun read. The story is complete fiction, just has Agatha and Max in it.
It‘s the first in a series. Next one comes out Oct.
Received my Book Riot #GetTBR recommendations. I‘m a little annoyed because they didn‘t send me a reminder email to update my requests and I was on vacation, so I didn‘t update what I was looking for.
I‘m not disappointed with these recs and the 2 bonus recs! It‘s just going to make me already miss Hawaii. They look like they‘ll be good summer reads though.
This #TeaTime magazine‘s #cozycorner book sounds like a lot of fun.

Colleen Cambridge has written a new historical series introducing Phyllida Bright, fictional housekeeper for none other than mystery novelist Agatha Christie. When a dead body is found during a house party at the home of Agatha Christie and husband Max Mallowan, it's up to the author's head of household, Phyllida Bright, to investigate.
OK, I‘m not embarrassed to say I “snort” laughed through this entire 200-page series starter. This book is a romp!! Phyllida Bright is a former army nurse, (40ish with a mysterious past) and the housekeeper at Mallowan Hall (home of the Mallowans/Christies). She‘s also a friend to Agatha and her biggest fan. When a man is murdered in the library and later one of her young housemaids, she takes it upon herself to investigate the visiting guests. ⬇️
A body. In the library. At the home of Agatha Christie? What a way to start a new mystery series! Cambridge joins the ranks of authors reimagining the roles of authors & sidekicks of famous detectives & introduces us to Phyllida Bright, housekeeper to Agatha & Max Mallowan. Mrs. Bright is every bit as smooth & clever as Marple & Poirot, although with a definite penchant for the Belgian detective. Post at http://itsallaboutthebook.org
