I love Books beautifully written, with evocative characters, which move me or teach me something. It strikes me now that my reading loves have morphed through life stages. As a teen and in my 20s, I was drawn to coming of age novels and generational family sagas. In my 30s the dynamics of marriage and children. In my 40s I loved novels of travel and history of countries yet unexplored. Now it‘s the interior life that draws me in. #dogsoflitsy

Litsy is where 125 books read seems average! I finished a book today just in time to get to this nice number. My total is thanks to #BookSpinBingo, audiobooks, and the lack of TV thanks to the Hollywood strikes! Looking forward to another great year of reading.

Ruthiella Awesome! 👏👏👏 4mo
Amiable That‘s an impressive page-count total! I was aiming for 40,000 pages but fell a bit short. Have to increase my chunkster reads this year! 4mo
MallenNC @Amiable Thanks! I want to pay more attention to page count this year to see how it ends up. 4mo

I enjoy several bookish (and other) podcasts, but Anne Vogel‘s What Should I Read Next is my #favoritebookishpodcast

Shoutouts also to Strong Sense of Place and Read or Dead!

Meanwhile, btw, today is also International Bagpipe Day!

#marchmagic

Mandoul I live in Scotland and had no idea it was international bagpipe day! 13mo
Eggs I do enjoy Bogel‘s books 🤗 (edited) 13mo

Happy Friday, Littens! 🎉📚

Scochrane26 Did you make that or find it online? My friend recently gave me 3 bookish patterns to cross stitch. I‘ve done one so far. 2y
ShyBookOwl @Scochrane26 Sadly this is a cheat... I found it online lol I crochet but have never attempted cross stitch. Bookish patterns are tempting though! 2y

Tackling the boxes with Anne Bogel's "What Should I Read Next?" in my ears. I just discovered this podcast two days ago and I've already added 13 titles to my TBR. But to balance that, I'm feeling inspired by the guest who gave away all but 10 of her physical books. I'd have to keep more than that just because of the whole "homeschooling two kids" thing, but I bet I could cull pretty deep without too much pain.

rockpools Ooh, I‘ve just downloaded that episode. I don‘t think I‘d go that far in practice , but I quite like the idea in theory! 2y
rockpools And good luck with the boxes! 2y
LeahBergen What wonderful bookcases! I‘m in the process of doing a big cull to donate to our upcoming charity book sales but, as I‘ll be attending those sales… 🤣🤣 2y

March/Lent #BFC2022 goals. Instead of specific mile and book numerical benchmarks, I‘m just going to focus on progress.

By the end of the month, I want to be able to walk the path around a nearby lake, about 2.2 miles. I also plan to sign up for more classes for the next quarter (aquatics and senior exercise).

Meanwhile, I‘ve been neglecting my reading journal! I‘m going to set aside specific reading and MRL time each day and plug away at it.

wanderinglynn Love that you‘re focusing on progress! That‘s a great way to go. 🙌🏻 2y

I forgot to post my new book journal from my sister-in-law. I don‘t buy books for myself as I‘m always borrowing from the library, so my bookish gifts are typically journals and reading peripherals. Can‘t wait to dig into this one in 2022!

Centique And this photo is so pretty too! Lovely journal and lovely tree 😍 2y

Spending an uneventful day at work (we do t use the “Q” work or the word that‘s the opposite of fast for good reasons. My sister got me this adorable reading journal for Christmas so I‘ve already gone through and marked the books I‘ve already read off all of the lists. She actually got this for me, her, my 2 girls, and her daughter. I‘ll post my actual book haul later when I get home from work.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa That looks great! 2y
CocoReads @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘m enjoying it so far, she‘s got space for journaling your reads and short articles about reading goals, ways to get more out of your reading, etc. and book lists (I love lists!). I already have a much bigger planner/book journal but this one is very portable. It has space for 100 reads, which is ambitious for me these days but it‘s undated so it seems perfect. 2y
Crazeedi I love journals like this!! I may have to look for it 2y

CocoReads She has a podcast too. 2y
Nute I really enjoy the What Should I Read Next? (Anne Bogel) podcast. Have you listened to any episodes? 2y
CocoReads @nute I do listen here and there. She pushes me out of my romance comfort zone. But I have also found that overall, her picks are hot or miss for me. But I do enjoy her podcasts. 2y
Nute I don‘t believe that I have ever read a particular book because of her recommendations for the guests on her show. I like listening to how she tries to figure them out. Her deciphering steps. Sometimes I think that she gets the person completely wrong, but no one ever says that.🤦🏽‍♀️🥴 Still fun to listen to the chat. 2y
CocoReads That‘s why I like to listen too. Plus I find her voice very soothing. 2y
