Favourite Christmas-y book of the year! This is a retelling of sorts of The Christmas Carol - but modern! A secret organisation - Project Scrooge - devotes itself to turning around 1 life a year, often of people who don‘t have a lot of time left to change. Holly, 17 - is a wealthy brat who receives the full treatment but doesn‘t repent & subsequently dies - and is then recruited into the role of Ghost of Christmas Past. Subverts all expectations!

#WinterGames #TeamFestivus. I forgot to post these recent finishes. Tim Curry‘s reading of A Christmas Carol wasn‘t bad but I bet there is better out there. I enjoyed reading the Scrooge story from Jacob‘s point of view. The Holiday is always a favorite. 46 pts.

Kdgordon88 @wanderinglynn. Looks like this post got lost in the shuffle. Don‘t know how you are keeping up with all this! 11h

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very much like A Christmas Carol told by Marley's point of view. I will read this again! I don't want to give too much away before our discussion, but definitely read, or l listen to it. The audio was superb.

I took a break from worrying about the bad decisions #Holly is making in this book to finally start putting up #HolidayDecorations with the family!

Some recent reading sneaks: On the right I was reading Funny in Farsi yesterday while waiting to exchange a purchase at the mall (thus the odd angle; didn't want to annoy the grumpy people in line behind me!). On the left, I'm reading The Afterlife of Holly Chase while @Ruri_kaichou tries to fix a podcast sound problem (which ended up, of course, being my fault).

Ruri_kaichou Hey! My basement! And it's not really your fault; Skype keeps finding ways to not work for us 3d

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. I'm not super into Christmas or Christmas stuff, but this year I've been more into than usual. I have always liked A Christmas Carol and I like that this plays on that. The ending was also interesting. I thought I knew how it was going to end, but it threw me bit of a curve ball. I liked the actual ending more then my predicted one. I was expecting a boring disappointment of an ending.

Me telling myself I won‘t need a book at the picnic

I can do this.
