This is one of the legends novels that Disney discarded in favor of their new cannon. It tells the story of a young Han Solo trying to make his way to the navel academy and the adventures/chaos leading up. There are cults, damsels in distress, large hairy beasts, gun fights, and lots of dangerous flying; the usual for Han 🚀

SpeculativeFemale Thanks for the reminder! I have some more of the older “Legends“ books I picked up secondhand several years ago and haven't gotten around to yet. 1y
Nessavamusic This sounds like a fun story! 1y

What a great book. Well written women, a complex protagonist, and a world so engaging, foreign, and yet still relatable. The people of Arrakis are single minded in their goals. They render the dead for their water, and view tears for another as a sacrifice. Paul and Jessica are the ultimate mother/son duo of any book I‘ve read. @Kimberlone FINISH IT! #classicScifi

Kimberlone Yassss now I just need to finish. Is Dillon done too? 4y
Kimberlone Did you see there‘s a graphic novel version that just came out? It‘s available on hoopla 4y
Saknicole @Kimberlone ahhh, can I check it out on your Hoopla? I want to read it! 4y
CrowCAH A classic under your belt! Will you continue the series? 4y

I‘m a bit more than halfway done with the audiobook. DAMN. It‘s good. My BF is mostly done with it and insisted I start. I am now worried that I will finish it before him or @Kimberlone which would be a tragedy.... who will I rant to?! This audio is good too; it‘s a full cast recoding type, some windy desert sounds included. I‘m all for it. #classicscifi #audiobooks

Kimberlone You had me at windy desert sounds 4y
CrowCAH I‘m in love with Dune! Going to start the sixth book after I finish my current audiobooks. 4y

Somewhat dated but still a fun bit of escapism. Not sure if I‘ll read the later sequels though. 4/5 #scifi #classicscifi #femaleauthor

I enjoyed this and found the narrative style very interesting, but I think I‘ll need to read it again to truly appreciate it. 4/5 #scifi #mayreads #classicscifi

This book is so problematic even for #classicscifi. Maybe skip it if colonialist metaphors for humanity's future make you barf.

I've been listening to Neil Gaiman's View from the Cheap Seats and he talked about this book. Checked my library and it was available! #classicscifi
