I loved this book based on the incredible story of Agnes Magnúsdóttir, who was convicted of killing her employer, along with another man, and sentenced to death in 1828.
It was the last Icelandic execution. The execution block and axe have been preserved by the National Museum of Iceland. A memorial stone has been erected at the execution site.

GlassAsDiamonds I always forget that a) he‘s Australian and b) he wrote that...🤦🏻‍♀️ 6y
CarolynM @GlassAsDiamonds I probably only remember because I am old enough to have heard of him before all the fuss about it being the first Australian Booker winner. 6y

This book is a bit like #factfiction with James reimagining the events behind the attack on Bob Marley in 1976. Marley was preparing for a free concert in Jamaica arranged by the PM to ease political tension. I'm fascinated by the political war that is raging among the gangs in Jamaica as it's something I knew little about beforehand. Slow to start! But picking up now...

Kalalalatja Hope you end up liking it 🤞 6y

A great example of #FactFiction! But...what is fact and what is fiction? 👀
This was my first Atwood and I'm so eager to further explore her work.

I love reading about the Fitzgeralds, Murphys, Hemingways, and their entourage. Villa America wasn‘t as engrossing as I wanted it to be, but I intend to read Everybody Was So Young because I‘d love to learn more about the Murphys! #factfiction #septemberdanes

emilyhaldi I was literally going to use that same book for my post today 😱 6y
Reviewsbylola 😂😂😂 I just went down my read list until I found a book that worked. 😂😂 @emilyhaldi 6y

#FactFiction

This has a lot of Facts about Fiction of the Harry Potter universe, but also about JKR, about the books and about the films.

This was a #blameitonlitsy and #coverlove book for me. It ended up the worst #factfiction book I have ever read. So many gratuitous #bodilyfluids 🤢

#septemberdanes

Kalalalatja Ugh, that doesn‘t sound pleasant 🤢 6y
emilyhaldi Lol 6y
IamIamIam LOL, I really liked it except for the pears. I've never known people to eat so many pears and I personally hate them so it was grating to think about. The chock sound or bits of bone? Not so much as the pears... 😂😂 6y

TheLibrarian 😂 I was not a fan of this book either but the gross parts didn‘t bother me. 6y
jillrhudy Eewwwww 6y
Reviewsbylola I didn‘t like the direction the author went with this one either. The vomit actually didn‘t bother me but it also seemed redundant. Then again, it IS a factual part of the Lizzie Borden story. Maybe that‘s why I wasn‘t annoyed with it. 6y
Megabooks I loved this one. Even with the 🤢🤢 6y
Cathythoughts I loved this one 😬👍🏻❤️ 6y

#septemberdanes #FactFiction I love reading about Hem‘s time spent in Paris in the 1920s, his circle of friends, and the trip they made at that time to Pamplona, Spain.... He wrote about this period of his life in fiction and Non fiction works.... ⬆️
The tagged book is great, and I really enjoyed The Paris Wife, but the cover always irritates me! The fashion on the cover seems totally wrong for the era! 🤷‍♀️

Kalalalatja Great picks 👏👏 6y

I love historical fiction, especially books that capture the facts so well. I‘m highlighting this one today, as tonight I‘m honored to be part of my library‘s biggest fundraiser of the year, where the author is the guest speaker. And, unless something changes, I‘m sitting at the author table at dinner! #FactFiction

This book is also my library‘s One Book selection, so I‘ll be immersed in this world all October! #SeptemberDanes
