pickThis month‘s prompt for the #FairyTaleRetellingChallenge is “Toads & Diamonds”. I had a hard time finding many options, but this retelling makes for a quick and entertaining twist in the original. The blessing of having jewels come out of your mouth doesn‘t work out for the kinder sister, while the cursed sister makes the best of the snakes and bugs that come out of her mouth. A quick listen that is well-performed, if a bit questionable in morals!
so-soThe #FairyTaleRetellingChallenge has #SnowWhite up first, so I plucked this one that has been long languishing on my TBR. It‘s a retelling that sticks close to the source material- but the extras, like dual-hearted dragon/human shifters and some creepy battles give it an original twist. I wish there was more character development but the nonstop action doesn‘t leave much room. The series continues and hopefully more world building goes with it…
pickThis #BeautyAndTheBeast #retelling offers a new backstory for the soiled and vain prince who is cursed into becoming a beast. I appreciated the appearance of Gaston and the early connection to the prince. The audio performance is great and this is a quick and fun listen- though not my favorite re-imagining of the tale. I wanted more from the Beast‘s perspective as he was redeemed through his love for Belle #FairyTaleRetellingChallenge @Charityann

I chose Mirror Mirror. A twisted retelling of Snow White in a world where Snow escapes her Evil stepmother only to find out she has poisoned her Prince Charming and she would do anything to save him.
I enjoyed reading this, I find it interesting to find different ways to retell such classic stories
