Quarantine: A Love Story | Katie Cicatelli-Kuc

QOTD: Are middle schoolers allowed to read romance…I said of course but only with the permission of your parents. My scholars ask questions that has me thankful that my children are grown. 😩🤣 #readingroyals #middleschoolersarewild

I tried the sugar cookie bites recipe that I posted earlier in the #wintergames. They are the ugliest little things I have ever made but they taste great. #attemptedholidayrecipe

DieAReader I think they look🤤🤤🤤! Great job! 2y
Sharpeipup You did good! 2y

Yeah I‘ve had this book for awhile but just started it. Considering Cape Cod is a cesspool of Covid I‘m avoiding heavily populated places. Anyway this book was published in December of 2019 😂 has two teens in quarantine monitored for a deadly case of mono. Oooh teen angst, teen love and quarantine! Right up my alley. 🤪😂😷😷

In case anyone was wondering how my first attempt at sugar cookies went, here is some photo evidence. 😂 Not the best, but a decent try. I still have to find a better cookie dough recipe, but we sorted out the icing after a few hours. I‘m extremely in love with my little yeti cookie though 💙

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks So cute and they look delicious 😋 4y
julesG They look cute and yummy. What kind of cookie are you thinking of? Thin? Thick? Rollable dough? Lots of butter? I could dive into my grandmother's recipes and translate some for you. 4y
Buchbeeg Those are so fun! 4y

Clwojick A thinner cut out dough, but strong enough to hold their shape with icing sugar on it, and easy to work with? This dough recipe was horrible to roll out, and cut.... which is normally the easiest part lol. @julesG (edited) 4y
Clwojick I don‘t really know what counts as thin or thick, but I‘d say normal thickness is fine lol 😂 @julesG 4y
reluctantangeleno 🤩😋 4y
julesG I'll get back to you 4y
Palimpsest @Clwojick probably a stupid question, but did you chill the dough for a while before rolling? I always use my grandma‘s sugar cookie recipe which is supposed to be 1/4 inch thick, but I like a thicker softer cookie. Never been great with royal icing and flooding, so I just use buttercream although you don‘t get that gorgeous look like the ones you posted the other day. Your cookies look amazing. I love the yeti and the ghosts! 4y
teebe 😮😭 that yeti really is the cutest thing 4y
Jemgirl2014 Well done! They look so good! 4y
Deifio Cool! 🤩🤩 4y
TheAromaofBooks Those are SO adorable! 4y
Freespirit They look amazing! 4y
TheDaysGoBy Those look great! Sugar cookies with royal icing are so hard. I haven‘t perfected it 4y
Clwojick @Palimpsest I used a no chill recipe. The first half I tried without chilling and it was horrible, and the second half I chilled and it was also horrible to work with lol 4y
marleed Oh but the are so cute! And ya know - cuteness helps :) 4y
LazyOwl These look great 4y
julesG Soooooo sorry, I nearly forgot. My go-to recipe, ancient - from my grandmother: 400g AP flour, 150g icing sugar, 1 egg - mix. Knead in 200g chilled butter (cubed). Chill for 30min. Roll out, cut out, bake for about 10min at 200C/375F. 4y
Clwojick Thank you sooo much! I tried another recipe on Sunday, but again, I wasn‘t a fan. I‘ll try this one next! @julesG 4y
julesG If you make the cookies thicker they might need to bake for a little longer. 4y

Thanks to @kidlitexchange for the free copy of this book to review! Quarantine by #katiecicatellikuc comes out March 26 from @scholasticinc

Flora and Oliver are both returning home from the DR when they are sent to quarantine because of a sick man on the plane. Thrown together by fate, these two teenagers embark on 30 days of staying in the same hospital room. Even though they are away from their lives they must still deal with them.

Fiction is definitely my favorite. It probably constitutes 99% of my reading. #17booklove #fictionlove

Handmade_Redhead I used to be 100% fiction. Mary Roach showed me that noon fiction could be fun too. 7y
Reviewsbylola I agree. I used to be really heavy on nonfiction but it's harder for me to read now. 7y
