pickIt's in the title - this is a #laidbackbook! Fun to dip in and out of, this is like Cliffs Notes of all the biggest hits in one package. While enjoyably snarky and conversational in tone it does have enough substance to get you through cocktail party chitchat including not just a quick plot synopsis but also The Best Line, What's Sexy, and What to Skip. Beach reading for the exhausted Lit major in all of us who want to read the fun stuff instead😊

I remember reading Outlander on the beach during one of my summer vacations in Highschool. With the water in front of me, I was transported to Scotland and the beautiful landscapes that Gabaldon was portraying. It's been a favourite of mine ever since, as you can see with my three different copies. ☺️

pickI don't choose "Here" as a #laidbackbook because most of its pages are wordless, but because its a quick read with a straightforward and profound premise. "Here" is about the ephemeral. Today my "here" has a pink concrete duck, but I remember this same here 20 yrs ago as wilderness. What will be here in 100 years? What was here 1000 years ago? My picks for today's #augustphotochallenge are Life is Meals by James and Kay Salter and the New York Times Book Review - By the Book collection. I consider a #laidbackbook to be one I can casually flip through at my leisure. I keep them on my bedside table and pick them up if I want to read something quick before bed. I'm still working my way through both of these books and thoroughly enjoying the ride. 🙂 #augustofpages
