5th stop on my DC #IndependentBookstoreDay tour was Second Story Books in Dupont, which is DC‘s oldest used bookstore, founded in 1973.

Since this was bookshop no. 5 for me, I got a gift—a Second Story pin & notebook.

I‘m at 10k+ steps and it‘s only 1:30. That‘s 5 hours of glorious bookshop browsing.

There‘s 1 more bookshop I want to hit, but first a stop at home to eat & rest for a minute.

500+ pages and just when you feel like maybe, just maybe, the pacing is going to pick up- bam. The book is over and you are expected to pick up the next doorstopper. No thanks.

I loved some parts of this third in the series, but it felt more scattered than the previous books as it bounced between characters. I‘m enjoying both the dragons and the handlers maturing, and the bits of the past they glimpse.

Book 4, the final in this series, is in my near future.

It was fun sinking back into Robin Hobb‘s world of the Rain Wilds, rejoining dragons and keepers for book 2 in this series.

The dragons selfish and childish behavior at the beginning had me rolling my eyes, but the characters and setting and Hobb‘s writing quickly absorbed me. I think book 3 is in my near future.

I‘m not really sure how I feel about this book, the characters or the series to be honest.
It may not be for everyone but it is a complex, intricate and intelligent story.
