Took me all day but I finally came up with three things.
1) The library.
2) Marching band.

For today‘s #threelistthursday, I listed 3 things I loved about school and then I wrote about my experience in school as an Autistic person and I was crying as I was writing about it. I had to keep stopping and wiping tears from my eyes because it was hard for me to write about it.

1) The school library. It was the place that I discovered some of my favourite books. Jane Eyre, Jacob Have I Loved, etc. it was also the place that I felt the safest @ school.
2) My three bookclub friends. It was the place where I met my longest friends, almost 30 years ago.
3) My English and socials/history classes. Also discovered some of my favourite books in those places. ⤵️
1. I loved (and still love) summer vacation, even if lately it‘s more of an ideal than a reality. Anyway, I‘ve also appreciated returning to the structure of the school year, even if my younger self didn‘t necessarily articulate it that way.
2. In elementary school I loved music class in whatever form it was offered.
3. In high school I loved Spanish class.

I work at the same school all the time now and I often tell the teachers I will plan an art lesson for them ( lessen their work load) 3. The kids think I‘m actually the school art teacher ( if only that job existed) I post the art we do on my IG acc‘t with the same name @mcctrish

I LOVED school- High School, College and Grad school! (I was a huge nerd )
I loved so much about High School-
1. I was able to attend Close Up 3 times - a program in DC to actively learn about govt,
2. I participated in The National Conf of Christian and Jews- it was life changing.
3. I was very active in Student Govt and Track by Sr year Captain of my team and President of my class.
My HS had 6000 students.
First day back to school today! On Tuesday, I helped lead the orientation for new families. For the last few years, I‘ve had the adults write notes to their students to stick to the back classroom cabinets: What do they hope for their child this year? And/Or Why did they choose our school (since it‘s a charter)? Here are three of so many sweet notes—a little inspiration to the students (and me) on tough days. 💗 #tlt @dabbe #ThreeListThursday
