Y‘all! It took almost 8 years but I‘ve finally reached 500,000 Litfluence! Whoohoo! Ok, how about I do a big giveaway! Please post your favorite thing(s) about Litsy (make me smile) and I‘ll enter you into a drawing for a book from your tbr list. Remember to tag me if you make a separate post! I plan to have at least more than one winner. 😁🎉📕❤️♥️📚

Ruthiella Awesome ! 😎👏👏👏 Congratulations. My favorite thing about Litsy is wry comments in read alongs that make me crack up. (edited) 2w
AmyG Wow! That‘s a huge number. Congrats!!! 2w
WorldsOkayestStepMom That's so awesome!

I love the community support I find here, and it inspires me to read a little bit every day. I also don't feel judged for bailing on a book if I need to!

Doll8455 Best place to find out what my daughter is up to. Up to over 500,000 congrats!!! 2w
AnnCrystal
Congratulations 👏🏼🥳📚💝.
2w
Julsmarshall Congratulations! That is quite a testament to your love of @litsy ! I love so much about Litsy, but connecting with other readers has to be at the top. Seeing our similarities and differences is really amazing and then there are a the great book recs! 2w
TheBookgeekFrau Congratulations!!! 🎉🥳🎊 2w
GatheringBooks Congratulations! What a remarkable milestone, indeed. Litsy is a refreshing alternative to other social media platforms that I just find to be increasingly toxic - with all the ads and analytics - everything and everyone here revolves around the love of books and reading. 📚📚📚📚 2w
RosePressedPages That‘s amazing!! Congrats! 🥳 I started using Litsy because I wanted to find a space where I could interact with other readers without the stress of trying to put up a facade for likes. I feel like Litsy has become a safe little corner where I can really share my thoughts on books and have positive interactions with other book lovers. I love how supportive Litsy is ♥️ I consider other Littens to be my book friends and cheerleaders ☺️ 2w
dabbe #yahooyou! 🤩🤩🤩 2w
dabbe Litsy started as a place to interact with people who loved to read. Everyone seemed to have an equal chance to be heard (unlike Goodreads), and everyone's voice counted. It has since evolved to where I truly have some dear friends here: friends who even allow me to not be happy all the time and always feel like I have to post happy pictures of my happy life. Sometimes things just suck, and you all still care. And listen. Thank you. 🩵💙🩵 2w
mrp27 Awesome! Congratulations on reaching this milestone! 2w
Read4life Congratulations!!! I love the people on Litsy. They are kind and supportive. I also love all of the book recommendations I get every single day!! 💙📚💙 2w
BarbaraBB That is so cool! Congratulations. I‘ll get back to you with my answer! 2w
julesG Congratulations!! 2w
LeahBergen Yayyy and congratulations to you! And I think we‘ve been Litsy friends for all of those eight years, too. 😆😆 My favourite thing about Litsy is the absolutely “untoxic” vibe of the place. Unlike other social media platforms, I‘m assured of a welcoming, stress-free environment whenever I log in. ❤️❤️ 2w
CarolynM Congratulations 🎉 2w
Sharpeipup Congratulations! 2w
Born.A.Reader Congratulations!! 🥳 🎉 I adore how pleasant and friendly everyone is here. It's apparently a fact; reading makes people happier! ❤️ 📚 2w
peanutnine Congratulations on this milestone!! ???❤️ My favorite thing about Litsy is the community, with buddy reads and fun reading challenges, plus getting to know everyone's pets and libraries and more, it really feels like a lovely space for friends. To me, Litsy is full of my "pocket friends" as I say to my husband ? 2w
Aconight Congrats! Amazing accomplishment 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏 2w
PuddleJumper Congratulations! 🎉🎉 2w
wanderinglynn Congrats! 🎉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 2w
TheEllieMo Congratulations!!! 🥳 There are so many things to like about Litsy: unlike other social media, it doesn‘t get bogged down with stupid arguments or trolls; I have discovered books I wouldn‘t otherwise have known about; and I get to see lots of feline reading buddies! 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 🐈‍⬛ (edited) 2w
Gissy Congratulations 🎉📚🎉📚👏👏👏 2w
MaureenMc 🎉🎉🎉 Love finding all of the books/authors I never would have heard of without Litsy (e.g. Cazalet Chronicles, Furrowed Middlebrow) (edited) 2w
Bookwormjillk Congratulations! I've been on Litsy for a while, but it was the early days of Covid reading Jane Austen books a chapter a day that really made me love it. It really became part of my support system then. 2w
Texreader @Ruthiella Thanks very much! I enjoy those comments too! 1w
Texreader @WorldsOkayestStepMom Thanks!! And so many reasons to love Litsy. I agree 100% 1w
Texreader @Julsmarshall Thank you! Yes, I always find it so interesting how we all have different tastes in books, discussing them, and learning something new! And the book recommendations can‘t be beat. Especially when I learn I should avoid a book 1w
Texreader @GatheringBooks Thanks very much! I agree… and we are all still friends even when we disagree about a book because we are here because we love reading and because we respect one another. 1w
Texreader @RosePressedPages Thank you!! And I agree! Even when I‘m stressed (a lot lately) Litsy is my safe place to be. 1w
Texreader @dabbe Thanks so much! And I‘m so glad to call you one of my dear friends here on litsy!! 1w
Texreader @Read4life Thank you!! I can certainly thank Litsy for my never ending tbr list!! 😁 1w
Texreader @LeahBergen Yes! We‘ve been friends for many years now!! I love that so much! And thank you for all the encouragement over the years. 🤍 1w
Texreader @Born.A.Reader Thank you!! 😊 Yes, it‘s a happy social media corner of the world! I‘m always reading three books at a time. I‘ve learned to make sure to never have 3 sad books at the same time. 😉 1w
Texreader @peanutnine !!! Pocket friends!!! I ♥️ that! The truth in everything you said! And thank you!! 1w
Texreader @TheEllieMo Oh gosh yes, all the ♥️ for all the kitties!!! Versus no trolls or arguments. I‘ll take Litsy and the books and all the cute pets any day! ♥️🐈‍⬛❤️🐈 1w
Texreader @MaureenMc Thanks and indeed, my tbr list grows almost daily! 1w
Texreader @Bookwormjillk Support system—a perfect way to describe Litsy. When I‘m happy and especially when I‘m down I can count on my Litsy friends to have my back. Thank you for being one of those dear friends Jill! 1w
Texreader @Doll8455 ♥️♥️♥️♥️ 😘 1w
Aconight CONGRATS!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 honestly the members! Ive been apart of multiple book communities/apps. You can always count on Littens being positive & supportive. 1w

The Academy Awards Winners for Best Picture
In honor of the awards, which will air this Sunday, how many have you seen?
1. Survey link: https://shorturl.at/jp3WT
2. Share your score if you'd like.
3. Share your 3 favorites from the list or 3 that you might be interested in seeing, or 3 you thought were horrible or a combo of whatever you'd like.
4. Tag a few!

Tagging some who've played in the past. 🤗

Leftcoastzen Link isn‘t working 4w
Bookwormjillk I‘ve seen 27 which is about 25 more than I would have expected. This reminds me I‘ve been meaning to watch Shakespeare in Love. 4w
CogsOfEncouragement 26 for me. My all time favorite movie is My Fair Lady. (edited) 4w
See All 50 Comments
CSeydel 42 … I‘m exactly average 🤣 4w
melissajayne 43 for me 4w
rwmg 38, which I was surprised by. There were a couple that sounded vaguely familiar and which I might have seen on TV and forgotten about. 4w
Amor4Libros 30…I thought it was going to be lower 😅 4w
willaful Only 29 for me. I'm not that into the sort of movies that win Oscars, apparently. 4w
Blueberry 37, it was hard to remember some. 4w
nelsonmatt890 I like to connect with you and read, lol. 4w
AnnCrystal Thanks for the tag 🎬🥳💝. 4w
TheLudicReader 42! I am exactly average, too, @CSeydel ! 4w
kspenmoll 38 but now I want to see some of the older films. I mostly skip movies with war & too much violence- lingers in me too long 4w
Amiable Oh, man, only 29 for me. I‘m not a big movie person (weird, I know). I did love “The King‘s Speech.” And also, how DO you solve a problem like Maria? 🧐😀 4w
Cheryl_Russell 6, which is more than I thought I would get. 😂😂. Obviously not a big movie person. 😂🤣 4w
shortsarahrose 40! But I minored in film studies in college and watched a lot of old musicals during the pandemic 💃 4w
The_Penniless_Author Thanks for the tag! Only 36 - I really thought it would be higher. Favorites would have to be Casablanca, Godfather 1 and 2, and No Country for Old Men. 4w
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Only 16. My tastes tend to run more pop-culture then critically acclaimed. Now, ask me about goofy sex comedies over the years, well, I've seen Porky's 100 times! 🤣 4w
Read4life Only 19! I need one for sports movies. 😂😂 4w
Bklover 35. Favorites would be Silence of the Lambs, Terms of Endearment, and Dances With Wolves. Oh, and Titanic. 4w
CSeydel @TheLudicReader woohoo 🙌🏻 (edited) 4w
dabbe @Bookwormjillk S in Love is excellent! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿💚📽️ 4w
dabbe @CogsOfEncouragement Audrey Hepburn is beyond elegant, isn't she? And I had a huge crush on Sexy Rexy! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @CSeydel For these surveys, that's a great place to be! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @melissajayne #yahooyou! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @rwmg I hoped you counted them! Did you think you'd score more or less? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @Amor4Libros Nice surprise, huh? 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @willaful I have a lot more that I want to watch! I haven't been into the later movies at all for some reason. The last one I saw in a movie theater was INSIDE OUT! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @Blueberry IKR? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @nelsonmatt890 The books are ALWAYS better than the movies! 🤩🤣🤩 4w
dabbe @AnnCrystal YW! 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @TheLudicReader You're in excellent company! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @kspenmoll Same here! Most of the movies I have seen from this list are the older ones, especially musicals and such. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @Amiable You're not weird at all! I haven't been inside a movie theater since INSIDE OUT came out! I love watching old movies, though. And double also, how do you catch a 🌥️ and pin it down? 🤔🤩🤗 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes I haven't been lately, either! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @shortsarahrose I'm a sucker for older movies, especially film noir. Do you have a favorite? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @The_Penniless_Author IKR? But then those first movies in the early 1930s, I was like 😳 Now I have a TBW list! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Or me with rom-coms or film noir! I haven't seen Porky's in ages ... time to revisit! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @Read4life Oh, I love sports movies! My faves are probably HOOSIERS (rip Gene Hackman 🥺), the original BRIAN'S SONG, and RUDY. What are yours? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
dabbe @Bklover Wowza, what a list! You nailed some fab ones! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 4w
Read4life Hoosiers is my top for sure!! I also love The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, Rudy, Miracle, oh I can go on and on!! Watching Hoosiers & The Replacements this weekend (Gene Hackman 💔) 4w
shortsarahrose Film noir is good, but my heart belongs to mid-century film melodramas, especially anything from Douglas Sirk. Written on the Wind is my favorite, but All that Heaven Allows and Imitation of Life are also great. I also love anything with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Swing Time is my favorite of theirs (except for the black face - might be the only film I‘ve seen Astaire do black face in), but all of them are fun. 4w
dabbe @Read4life I'm definitely rewatching HOOSIERS this weekend. Totally forgot about THE REPLACEMENTS, too! 🥺 4w
dabbe @shortsarahrose I need to look more into mid-century films. And 🎯 to Astaire and Rogers! 🎶 4w
tpixie @shortsarahrose @dabbe did you know that Fred sister was actually thought to be a better dancer? I didn‘t even know he had a sister!! Until I read 3w
tpixie 40/96=0.417 46% 3w
dabbe @tpixie They were quite the pair ... until he went solo ... well, sort of. 🤩 3w
dabbe @tpixie #woohooyou! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚🩶💚 3w

Texreader Thanks for the tag again! I read 10, with women being my favorite authors again: Octavia Butler and Jane Austen. 2mo
TheLudicReader I got 19, but I own a few others that I haven‘t yet read. Geesh, you think you read a lot and then do these lists. 😂 2mo
CogsOfEncouragement 20 this time 2mo
See All 62 Comments
Bookwormjillk I got 20% which is one less than last week. It makes me feel old that there are books on this list that I can remember when they first came out 🤣 2mo
rwmg 32

I seem to be getting better each week
2mo
Amiable @TheLudicReader Exactly! I only had 18, much to my chagrin. And I took AP English. Where the heck was I? 😄 2mo
tpixie Only 16. 2mo
melissajayne 21. favourites include Pride & Prejudice, Obasan, and The Odyssey 2mo
DGRachel I got 17 for this one with too many favorites to list! Cormac McCarthy, Macbeth, Othello, Much Ado About Nothing, the Austens. I just wish I could count each reread! 😂 2mo
Deblovestoread Thanks for the tag! ❤️🩷❤️ 2mo
kspenmoll 28. Pride & Prejudice, The Odyssey, MacBeth, 2mo
Catsandbooks Only 11. I've read more by authors who were on the list but not those exact books 2mo
BooksandCoffee4Me 32. Favorites: Our Town, The Power and the Glory, all of the Austin novels. 2mo
thebacklistbook 14/100 mostly the Shakespeare. 2mo
Mollyanna Thanks for the tag. I‘ve only read 14. Ugh! And like @Amiable I took AP English. I do have quite a few on my TBR. 2mo
Eggs ❤️❤️ 2mo
thegirlwiththelibrarybag 5!! One of my best results from these AP lists. I recognised more titles this week too ☺️ 2mo
dabbe @Texreader I have yet to read anything by Butler; she's now on my list! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader You do read a LOT! Most of these are ancient, I mean (ahem) classics. You beat my sorry ass this week! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @CogsOfEncouragement Better than me! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Bookwormjillk And they were on our high school “to-read“ lists and are still there! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @rwmg Ya whipped me this week! 🙌🏻 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Amiable So did I! I have to admit that my head was sometimes buried in Cliff's Notes. 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @tpixie You're in good company; my score was 18! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @melissajayne Never read OBASAN; I put it on the TBR. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @DGRachel I still can't believe I've never read anything by McCarthy. You've inspired me! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Deblovestoread YW! 😘 2mo
dabbe @kspenmoll Ya whopped my sorry butt! MACBETH's my favorite Shakespearean play of all time. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Catsandbooks I say you should count those and redo! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @BooksandCoffee4Me You should count 'em! 🤩 2mo
dabbe @BooksandCoffee4Me Ya whooped my sorry butt! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @thebacklistbook Yay, you! I need more Shakespeare in my life. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Mollyanna @Amiable Same here! Maybe we should have an AP English buddy read! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Mollyanna @Amiable Same here! Maybe we should have an AP English buddy read! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Eggs 😘 2mo
dabbe @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Yay, you! Can we count them if we recognize them? 🤔🤩😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
DGRachel @dabbe You can go wrong with No Country for Old Men, but I would avoid The Passenger and Stella Maris duology. This reminds me the Blood Meridian is still on my TBR. I really need to get to that one… 2mo
Amiable @dabbe I do honestly toy with the idea of going back and reading all of those classics that I was supposed to have read but instead managed to get through AP English armed only with a cursory review of Cliff's Notes and a winning smile for my teacher. 😄 2mo
dabbe @DGRachel Good to know! I've been scared to read him! 😅 Thanks. 🤗 2mo
dabbe @Amiable I wish we had been in the same class together. We would have been #incahoots! 🤩😂🤗 2mo
DGRachel @dabbe I totally meant cannot go wrong with No Country. Just know it‘s violent. The Road is probably his best known and it‘s excellent but depressing. 2mo
Amiable @dabbe OMG, my English teacher was legendary! On the 1st day of class she told how she escaped Budapest during the Hungarian revolution in 1956 by swimming across the Danube with a backpack holding only a change of clothes and “Hamlet.“ Kind of hard to complain about Shakespeare after that! She also claimed to be a judge for the Nobel Prize for Literature. Found out years later from her obit that she actually was! She scared the bejesus out of us. 2mo
willaful 13 for me. Not many favs other than Pride and Prejudice, though I was really into One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest back in the day. 2mo
tpixie @Amiable what an amazing resilient teacher you had! 2mo
Mollyanna @Amiable Your teacher sounds amazing! 2mo
Amiable @tpixie @Mollyanna We did not appreciate her at the time! She was intense and had sky-high expectations for us. We were all afraid of her, mostly. 😄 But now I can credit her for the success I‘ve had in college, grad school and my career. I can draw a straight line from the things I learned in her class to today —40 years later. 2mo
tpixie @Amiable that‘s amazing. I think that happens with teachers- it‘s not until we reflect on our life that we can appreciate their impact 🩵🤍🩵 2mo
dabbe @DGRachel Fabulous advice. I will file these emotions away, and when I'm ready, I'll give him a try! 🤩 2mo
dabbe @Amiable She sounds like an incredible woman. She could have penned her own memoir/autobiography! 🤩 2mo
dabbe @willaful P&P is my fave Austen. I've even read some horrible pastiches just to revisit Darcey and Elizabeth in as many ways as I could! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Amiable I also was terrified of my AP English teacher. She gave me a “C“ on my 1st essay. I had NEVER received a C in anything in English. I ran to my mom in the library (she worked at my high school) and begged her to get me out of her class. “No way,“ was her reply. “You've finally met someone who's going to take you out of your comfort zone.“ Ms. Wogan was the only teacher I came back to visit my 1st weekend home from college. 🩶 2mo
MonicaLoves2Read I have read 12, 6 in High School 6 in College 2mo
Kitta Read 12, this list is very different from my reading list in school! My favourite would have to be the Picture of Dorian Gray, which I read on my own time in University. I have an Oscar Wilde tattoo 😂 so probably no surprise there. 2mo
dabbe @MonicaLoves2Read #yahooyou! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
dabbe @Kitta DORIAN is one of my top 3 from this list as well! I'd love to see your tattoo, too! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 (edited) 2mo
Kitta @dabbe it‘s a nightingale and a rose, 🥀 🐦 from the short story! I‘ll post a picture if I can, it‘s on my inner bicep so hard to photograph 😂 2mo
dabbe @Kitta 🤩🤗🤩 2mo
PurpleyPumpkin 23/100, not bad! Favourites are The Picture of Dorion Grey, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Obasan. Always fun to do these, thanks for the tag!💜 1mo
AnishaInkspill thanks for the tag 😍 1mo

DGRachel I did better this time but still didn‘t beat the average. I got 19. Too many on my favorites list, many that I have tried, failed, and will never try again (not counted) and several I‘d like to read. Fun! 2mo
Cheryl_Russell 17/100. The Joy Luck Club, Love Medicine, Little Fires Everywhere, Little Women, Housekeeping, and Going After Cacciato all jumped out at me. Some were ‘Did I read this? I don‘t remember‘ (didn‘t count those). 2mo

dabbe @DGRachel Yay to beating your score last week! I hope I do the same. And don't say you “failed“ at reading them. You #hailedthebails! 🤩 I cringed at quite a few of these just by looking at their covers! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes I say if you even thought you might have read it, it should count! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @PuddleJumper AP stands for Advanced Placement, and it's usually a senior course in high school where, if a student takes the 4-5 hour literature exam at the end of the year (multiple-choice and 3-4 essays), she/he/they can receive college credit and not have to take English 101 or 102 in college. Also, if a student receives an “A“ in the class, it counts as a 5.0 re: gpa, not a 4.0. 2mo
MaleficentBookDragon I hated Ethan Frome soooooooo much! 2mo
MaleficentBookDragon Better than last week but still not a lot. 21 (lady week 17). 2mo
dabbe @MaleficentBookDragon You're still in fantastic company; pretty much most of us are between 5-30. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @MaleficentBookDragon That book is so flippin' sad! 😭 2mo
PuddleJumper @dabbe Ahh, ok we don't have anything like that in the U.K 2mo
BkClubCare 35 for me! With one title I am not sure of and a few that I skimmed or only *think* I have read (cough, Great Expectations, cough) 2mo
BkClubCare @MaleficentBookDragon - there are some HILARIOUS youtube videos by HS kids mocking that book. 2mo
dabbe @PuddleJumper I should have explained with the 1st list last week. Sorry about that! 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @BkClubCare #yahooyou! Great Ex: 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
CogsOfEncouragement I checked off 14 again. Four were assigned to me in HS. 2mo
LA1 Rank 72 out of 81 with a score of 23 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn‘t think I would get any but a few is good 😊 2mo
dabbe @CogsOfEncouragement There's quite a few on this list that I'm not even remotely interested in reading! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @LA1 You got more than a few, and you're in good company! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
Patchshank Thanks for the tag. I've read 10. There's a few there I own but haven't read like Kafka on the shore and kindred. 2mo
BookNAround 44 on this one so fewer than last week. 😉 2mo
LiseWorks I only read 14 and only because I had to either for school or it was on my tbr forever 2mo
TheLudicReader A whopping 18! 😬 2mo
peaKnit Doh! 10! lol 2mo
bibliothecarivs Seven for me this time, more than my four from last time. 2mo

dabbe @peaKnit Dohing is not allowed! 😂 Ya done good are in great company with the rest of us! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @bibliothecarivs Some book covers on this list did not do much to make me want to read them! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
Bookwormjillk 20 for me. Ethan Frome and The Great Gatsby are two favorites I always think though people should wait until they‘re 30 to read them. Grapes of Wrath is another favorite. One of the few assigned readings I finished in school. Even then I loved to #HailTheBail 2mo
Texreader Ive only read 9, but can‘t remember all the Shakespeare I‘ve read and I question a few others. The best books from this batch were by women: Frankenstein, Kindred, The Handmaid‘s Tale, and In the Time of the Butterflies. 2mo
Texreader @dabbe Oh I was wondering! I‘m too old for all that “Advanced Placement” test stuff! 😉 We had a special English class for a few seniors who wanted advanced reading. And it was great. But that‘s all it was. 2mo
dabbe @Bookwormjillk Agree 💯. These books I feel are sometimes wasted on the high school kids who need to live more and suffer more to truly appreciate them. #Hailingthebail was a favorite activity of mine, too--plus reading CLIFF'S NOTES! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @Texreader Yay for women writers! Curious as to which ones you question, too! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @Texreader Your senior class sounds a lot more fun than the AP one! We once had a class for seniors that was called Senior Contemporary Novels, and it was fabulous. Kids reading books and discussing a la a book-club format. Now, there's no room for exploratory classes like that. A true bummer. 2mo
Texreader @dabbe Oh that sounds lovely! 2mo
rwmg 28, better than my 21 last week.

Quite a few I know I've read but remember almost nothing about.
2mo
thebacklistbook 11/100 I'm sure I forgot some. 2mo
PurpleyPumpkin What a great book list! While I‘m familiar with many of these, I‘ve only read 27 which surprised me. Favourites are The Importance of Being Earnest, Little Women, and Fahrenheit 451. So many more I want to read!📚 2mo
tpixie 16/100. Apparently I go for the ‘trash‘ books instead of classics!! 2mo
Eggs 🧡🤗 2mo
dabbe @Texreader It truly was. 🤩 2mo
dabbe @rwmg Our brains can only remember so much when we read a lot of books, right? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @thebacklistbook I'm sure you did! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @PurpleyPumpkin Love all 3 of your choices! I actually burned a book when I introduced F451 to my students. The kids were like 😳😱😝! It was a book that was already falling apart. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @tpixie No book is trashy! 🤩 Remember, too, that these are books that had to pass the “banned“ criteria... for example, I can guarantee no book by Toni Morrison is on the list, and she ain't trashy at all! You're in good company, m'dear! Most scores were between 5-25. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @Eggs 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
tpixie @dabbe 💙🩵💙 2mo
azulaco 39/100. Lots of assigned reading from high school and college. A couple that I actually have on Kindle and have never gotten to! 2mo
dabbe @azulaco Ya kicked my sorry butt! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
iread2much 17 on this one, so a bit better 😅 2mo
dabbe @iread2much Yay, you! You're in great company! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
iread2much @dabbe thank you for the invite 😁 2mo

New Survey: AP Literature Free Response Titles List #1 (1970-2024)
I really needed a list to take me totally away from the crapola of this week in the USA.
1. Survey link: https://www.listchallenges.com/litsy-ap-literature-free-response-titles-list-1
2. Share your score if you'd like.
3. Share your 3 favorites from the list or 3 that you might be interested in reading or a combo or whatever you'd like.
4. Tag a few!

dabbe I'll post my faves later, but for the record: I've only read 20 from this list. So many ones I still want to read! 🤩 2mo
Texreader That was fun. I‘ve read 11 and probably a few more, but I just can‘t remember. Easily my favorite was Dracula. 2mo
Bookwormjillk I‘ve read 19 I think, but high school was a long time ago so I‘m not 100% which Shakespeare plays I read and which I just saw. Loved Dracula and Cry, The Beloved Country blew me away when I read it in school. 2mo

thebacklistbook 12. Mostly read for lit classes. 2mo
rwmg 21

I'm guessing this is a school reading list but I don't really know what AP classes are or what to expect from them.
2mo
LiseWorks I read only 8, but that's because I'm a Canadian, and our schools and universities have different books. Like where was most of Shakespeare stuff like Romeo and Juliette. 2mo
bthegood ❤️💙❤️ (edited) 2mo
PurpleyPumpkin I read 16 on this list and have many others on my tbr shelf. Many of these reads were from when I went to university. But I‘d like to get back to some of these. Thanks for posting!👍🏽 2mo
BookNAround I‘ve read 46 but I do have 2 English degrees and did take AP English way back in the day. I have quite a few of the newer (post my long ago schooling) books on my shelves tbr. Also, I have read other books by a bunch of the authors but not necessarily their works on the list. (edited) 2mo
Kar2b Only 6 for me. I haven‘t read All the Light We Cannot See yet, but I own it, so that‘ll take me to 7. 🤪 2mo
TheSpineView Thanks for the tag! 😍 2mo
Deblovestoread Thanks for the tag! 2mo
dabbe @Texreader Yes to DRACULA, too! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @Bookwormjillk Still can't believe I've never read CRY. On the TBR! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @thebacklistbook Same here. Or ones I had to teach! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @rwmg AP stands for Advanced Placement, and it is a literature course where if seniors can pass the AP literature exam (where these titles come from), they don't have to take English 101/102 in college. These are titles that the College Board (the ones who created all AP courses) deems are “works of literary merit.“ Obviously, that thought is up for debate. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @LiseWorks Excellent point. Most titles are British and American, which is why those two subjects are taught in a lot of American high school courses. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @bthegood 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @PurpleyPumpkin YW! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @BookNAround #yahooyou! I knew you'd score higher than most--and you kicked my sorry English-teacher's ass! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @Kar2b I own it, too, and have yet to read it! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
dabbe @TheSpineView YW! 😘 2mo
dabbe @Deblovestoread YW! 😘 2mo
BkClubCare I checked 31 but not that many were from HS but the past decade plus when I wanted to read more classics 🌟 Always fun to look at book lists 😂 2mo
dabbe @BkClubCare I love book lists! It just makes the ol' TBR grow to infinity and beyond! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
LA1 Thanks for the tag! I‘m ranked #210, having read only 5 of the books. 😊 2mo
dabbe @LA1 I sure found quite a few to add to my TBR; how about you? 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
bibliothecarivs I don't read a lot of fiction so I've only read 4. But Don Quixote, Elmet, and Dancing at Lughnasa are on my to-read list. 2mo
dabbe @bibliothecarivs What type of nonfiction do you like? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
TheLudicReader 17…not a great result. Lots of unfamiliar titles, too. 2mo
peaKnit Oof 9% 2mo
bibliothecarivs @dabbe I'm a nonfiction librarian and have wide interests but I usually read history, biography, autobiography, literary studies, cultural analysis, poetry, religion, nature & travel writing, and books about my favouite music, visual art, and films, with some politics, philosophy, science, and folklore sprinkled in. 2mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader Same here. Mostly American and British authors, too. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
dabbe @peaKnit You're in good company! 😂 Any you want to add to your never-ending TBR? 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
dabbe @bibliothecarivs And I am #gobsmacked! 🤩 I would love to read more nonfiction, especially in history. Do you have anything to recommend for Tudor or 19th century British History or Colonial/Early American history? 2mo
KadaGul Thank you 🫶 for the tag 🏷️. #Hello2025 🍀💜🌅💙 2mo
Patchshank Thanks for the tag. I scored an 8 😂 2mo
WorldsOkayestStepMom Thanks for the tag! I have read 14 of them. 2mo
azulaco I scored 33. And actually I‘m embarrassed, because lots of these titles have been on my infinite TBR list for YEARS, so I should have read more of them. I did have a good high school and college education. A lot of the ones I read were assigned in class, or caught my interest after a related class discussion. I must admit that a couple, I‘ve only read excerpts of, so I kind of cheated. 2mo
bibliothecarivs @dabbe yes! The Five by Rubenhold and the English Reformation by Jones. Currently enjoying Tomalin's biography of Thomas Hardy (b. 1840). If you're willing to go a little outside of the Tudor period, Dan Jones's books Summer of Blood and The Plantagenets are excellent. 2mo
dabbe @KadaGul YW! 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
dabbe @Patchshank You're in good company; most of us scored under a 20! Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
dabbe @WorldsOkayestStepMom Yay you! Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
dabbe @azulaco I say if you “dabbled“ in a book, it counts! Most scored under 20, so yahoo you! Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
dabbe @bibliothecarivs I will look into all of these! Thank you so much for your help and expertise! 🤗 2mo
dabbe @bibliothecarivs Ooh, I love JtheR stuff! 🤩 2mo
DGRachel I managed a whopping 7. 😂 There were several others that I tried to read and bailed (glaring at Crime & Punishment) and a little sad at the number of authors I‘ve read, but haven‘t read the “right” book. I‘ve read a lot of Dickens and Cormac McCarthy, for instance. 😮‍💨 But also, I have to recommend a different translation of Beowulf. This one is 🤩 2mo
dabbe @DGRachel This survey only went through the letters A-C, so I bet your authors and other titles will be coming! And you're in good company; most of us scored 20 or under this time around. 😂 I'll have to check out your BEOWULF suggestion; thanks! Thanks also for playing and sharing. 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
DGRachel I truly hated Beowulf in high school, but Headley‘s translation was delightful (if you like modernizations). It literally had me howling with laughter. I highly recommend the audiobook. 2mo
dabbe @DGRachel Now on the TBR! 🤩🩵🤩 2mo
CogsOfEncouragement I‘ve read just 14 on the list. 2mo
dabbe @CogsOfEncouragement You're in good company; most of us scored 20 or lower! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
iread2much Only 6 for me 😅 2mo
dabbe @iread2much We're all in good company! Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩵🩶🩵 2mo
Cheryl_Russell Missed this last week. Just as well, 8/100. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 2mo
dabbe @Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes You're in good company; most of us scored 20 or less! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 2mo
Sleepswithbooks Only 7 😮 2mo
dabbe @Sleepswithbooks You're with the rest of us, m'dear! Most were between 1-20! I've added quite a few to my TBR. Doesn't mean I'll ever get to them, but still, a girl can dream ... 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing! 🩶🩷🩶 2mo
