Couple of copy-editing errors in my copy, but an interesting, detail-filled story! The Signal Corps women's experiences were totally new to me. #historicalfiction
A remarkable and harrowing novel about the Vietnam War. A raw semi-autobiographical account capturing the brutal dehumanizing effects of war. The pacing is intense and chaotic fitting the narrative perfectly. It is quite the novel.
2.5⭐️ Thought that the book was ok. While I really enjoyed the craft by the author, I thought that the story went by a little too slowly for my liking and I just didn‘t like it as much as I thought I would. #2022 #bookreview #bookstagram #historicalfiction #fiction #warfiction #literaryfiction #bookclub
DNFing at 78%. I was hoping I would finally get into the groove and see clearly exactly what the author was trying to say. But this is the most horrifying story of casual cruelty and graphic violence (for both humans and animals) I have ever read, and I‘m not interested in continuing. Plot is minimal. Zero sympathetic characters. (I also have zero idea why this ended up on my TBR. 🤷♀️.
22 #66 I liked this one a lot. Jennifer Chiaverini is becoming one of my faves!
This story had so much potential! Unfortunately, although clearly meticulously researched I feel the author got too caught up in the details which led to the storyline being somewhat sloggy. I admit to skimming at points as I wanted a story not a textbook read.
