#BookQuestion #EST @ljuliel

Shortest book I‘ve read? I‘ve read many comic books which average 22 pages, but I‘ll go with Detective #477, which turned out to be a reprint of a book I already had with only 5 pages of new material!

Longest book I‘ve read? Right now it‘s Oathbringer at 1,306 pages, but I‘m currently reading the uncut version of The Stand at 1,439 pages!

More answers in comments 👇

DaveGreen7777 Oldest book I own? I‘ve kept books I loved from my childhood as momentos, including a hardcover edition of what was my favorite Hardy Boys novel, “The Disappearing Floor”, which was published in 1940!

Newest book I own? I bought L.L. McNeil‘s newest novel, “Crimson Eyes”, which just came out August 30th of this year!

LibrarianRyan Love all your facial expressions. This one is a keeper. 2mo
ljuliel You did it again ! 5 Golden 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for best post of the week ! Hilarious 😂. Keep them coming. Good answers ! I read a few of the Hardy Boys myself as a kid. Also Nancy Drew. (edited) 2mo

1- Shortest I can think of was Tuesdays With Morrie. (192 pgs)
2- Longest was , And Ladies of the Club. ( 1184 pgs)
3- Oldest is Before Women Had Wings ( 1996) I don‘t keep lots of books around, so that‘s the oldest I could find .
4-Newest is 11-5-19 ( on my Kindle)

#bookquestion #EST

Amiable Oh, I loved “And Ladies of the Club“ -- I must have read that 3 or 4 times when I was younger! 2mo
ljuliel @Amiable I‘ve only read it once, and liked it a lot. For some reason, the story reminded me a bit of my Grandma. Her life wasn‘t exactly like any of the ladies in the book, but those years would‘ve been around the same time frame as hers , and she also lived in Southern Ohio. 2mo
Eggbeater I read "And Ladies of the Club" over 20 years ago and it still holds a special place in my heart. The amazing thing is the author wrote that novel in her 80s and it was her first one! That's inspiring! 2mo

Amiable @ljuliel I loved the idea of a group of women getting together to discuss books for so many years of their lives. @eggbeater The book is like a warm bath that you can sink into -- so comforting! 2mo
ljuliel @Eggbeater , yes, quite inspiring. Gives me hope that there‘s still a novel floating around in my old head someplace. 👵🏼👍🏼 2mo
ljuliel @Amiable , yes, it was a bit like growing older with them, going through all the things they did. 2mo

1. According to GR, A Charlotte Mason Education by Catherine Levison (104 pp), but I don't completely trust GR page counts.
2. The Lord of the Rings (1,216 pp as one volume). See note on GR page counts above.
3. Meditations of the Heart by Howard Thurman (printed 1953). Epic of Gilgamesh is older (c2100 BCE) but I don't have an original printing (inscription?) of that one.
4. Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo (Oct 2019)

@ljuliel #bookquestion

Scochrane26 I don‘t trust GR page counts either because it depends on the edition. I think what I listed was accurate though as far as shortest & longest. 2mo
ljuliel I‘ve not read LOTR ,but I‘ve seen those combo- books where all the stories are in one book. It‘s huge ! 2mo
ImperfectCJ @Scochrane26 I might just not be adept at sorting on GR. When I look at the Stats section, it lists PK Dick's The Minority Report (which I read in 2009) as 103 pp, but it didn't show up when I sorted my "read" shelf by page number. ? Oh, well. Not a huge deal. 2mo

ImperfectCJ @ljuliel I wasn't sure whether to include the big volume, but as Tolkien apparently wanted it published that way originally, I felt justified. 🙂 (Second-longest is The Stand at 1153 pp.) 2mo
ljuliel Yep, The Stand is huge ! Another I have yet to try ! 2mo
TalecArashi I would certainly be impressed if you did have an early edition of Gilgamesh! 😂 2mo
ImperfectCJ @TalecArashi Who knows...there could be one in one of the many stacks of books I have around the house. 🤔 2mo

Had to look at past GR lists to find some of these answers. I went by page numbers listed in GR.
1. The Importance of Being Earnest 76 pages
2. The Fiery Cross 1443 pages
3. Anne of Green Gables
4. On kindle but the most recently published is The Art Of Theft

1. Stop F**king Tweeting and Go the F**k to Sleep, Mr. President, 16 pages
(technically, it is an adult book)
2. War and Peace, 1225 pages
3. Birds of America, copyright 1936 original copyright 1917
4. The Starless Sea, copyright November 5, 2019

(I like variety.)

@ljuliel

Djspens Lol I love #1!!! If only he'd do that!!! 2mo
ljuliel Wow, I think your #1 might win for shortest ! My grandma had a really old bird book that I looked at every time we visited. It was small with a red cover. Not sure how old it was v 2mo
AnansiGirl Book #1 needs to be an audiobook read by Samuel L Jackson! 2mo
Eggbeater @AnansiGirl 😂 That would be perfect! 2mo

ljuliel Thank you for the answers ! Nothing wrong with being a Stephen King fan. I think you‘re in quite a large crowd in that area. He‘s very popular . I need to post my answers when I get a couple minutes. I think your short book beats mine. I‘m not sure on page counts. Thanks again ! 📚 (edited) 2mo

CarolynM Great questions, but I only know the answer to no.3 (1670) and it would take me much too long to work out the others 😬 2mo
ljuliel Wow, @CarolynM ! What‘s the book ? That‘d be neat to have a book that old. 2mo
CarolynM The Remains of Sir Fulke Grevile Lord Brooke Being Poems of Monarchy and Religion. It's a rebind, though, probably around 1800. We also have a set of Clarendon's History from circa 1705 in original bindings. We used to collect antiquarian books when we had two professional salaries and no kids😂 2mo
ljuliel That must be an interesting hobby. I‘d know nothing about which books were worth purchasing, and how much to spend. Do you have to keep them sealed up in any way since they‘re so old ? 2mo

I have a question for all you #EpicBuddyRead ers.

How do you picture Kvothe? The Kvothe in his university days?

I have a hard time creating him in my mind when I read.

@TricksyTails #TNotW #BookQuestion #CharacterQuestion

Betty Apparently he's not in a graphic novel. That would have helped 2y
callielafleur With the red hair and being a musician, all I can think of is Ed Sheeran. I don't think that's right, but it's what comes to mind. 😂 2y
See All 49 Comments
AmyG I picture him in my mind as a good-looking teenager. And then I read about his red hair and it throws me off. (edited) 2y
MinDea Hahaha @callielafleur ...like from his cameo in GoT?!? 2y
ghosthost Like this model, but thinner and less well-groomed: https://www.google.com/search?q=stefano+masciolini 2y
MinDea @AmyG I laughed much harder than probably appropriate to your comment. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 2y
TricksyTails Posted something just for you. 2y
TricksyTails @AmyG Same!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 2y
TricksyTails @AmyG So I imagine it blood red or nearly blonde! 2y
TricksyTails @callielafleur 😂😂😂 Ed Sheeran!!! 2y
nluev I‘ve seen a lot of fan art and official artwork so I kinda just mix those up in my head. There‘s one drawing that always gets stuck in my head though. It‘s the one where Kvothe has his arms crossed and says “Tell me you didn‘t ruin my good sheets” and Bast is running up to him with pieces of wood in his arms saying “Reshiii!!” So if anything, it‘s that image of Kvothe and Bast. (I also sometimes imagine Ezra Miller as Bast 😅) 2y
MinDea @nluev I have a decent picture of him now in his days at the inn/bar with abast, but not as a boy/teenager. I will have to look up some fan art! 2y
ghosthost I finally got the link to work! I picture him looking like this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/livvyowl/6714165405/in/album-72157628908289819/ 2y
readordierachel I can't really picture him either. But I do imagine that he's always wearing a vaguely smug expression. 2y
DeborahSmall @MinDea @AmyG @callielafleur @ghosthost @TricksyTails @nluev don‘t laugh but as adult Kvothe I just picture Tormund from GoT; big and strong http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1970465/. As a 15 year old I think of a red headed Orlando Bloom. Mostly because of the illustrations in the book. He has high cheek bones and very slim .... 2y
TricksyTails @DeborahSmall @MinDea and I were just talking about Tormund!!! ♥️♥️♥️ Yes! I see it! 2y
MinDea @DeborahSmall I just said that to @TricksyTails that I picture Tormund as the inn keeper version of Kvothe and I just put a link (the second one) as the younger Kvothe. 2y
TricksyTails Travis Fimmel old, young, everything in between. 😂 2y
DeborahSmall @TricksyTails @MinDea that‘s the way I pictured him from the start!! Brilliant ❤️👍🏼 2y
MinDea Kvothe in his younger days https://goo.gl/images/bseoZB 2y
callielafleur @MinDea well that's a very appealing picture to have in ones head... 😍😍😂😂 2y
MinDea Hahaha @callielafleur yes...it really is. It will make this book even MORE enjoyable. 😆😆😆😆 2y
MinDea Kvothe as the innkeeper https://goo.gl/images/nYoJFt 2y
TricksyTails 🙌 YES! Nailed it! Good picks!! 2y
tonyahoswalt @MinDea I love your pic for Kvothe as innkeeper 2y
MinDea How do you picture him @tonyahoswalt ? 2y
tonyahoswalt @MinDea ooh, I love the beard guy for the younger days, though I don't know if I can picture young Kvothe with a beard 2y
MinDea @tonyahoswalt I agree, maybe that guy with out a beard. If I knew his name I'd see if there were beardless photos of him...🤔 2y
MinDea His name is Gwilym Pugh if anyone would like to learn more... 😊 2y
tonyahoswalt @MinDea Hmm, I don't know that I could find a picture. Thin, his red hair a few inches long, handsome, it's all very generic. Let me look at some fan art and see if I can find something close. 2y
Suelizbeth I picture him as Gerard Butler, maybe with auburn hair. I don‘t really have a good image of him at university. 2y
tonyahoswalt @MinDea This is very close to what I imagine, maybe slightly shorter hair. I think I'd seen this at some point, and I imagine it now. https://img00.deviantart.net/0c38/i/2015/114/a/d/the_kingkiller_chronicle__kvoth... 2y
MinDea @tonyahoswalt those are both really good!!! 2y
MinDea @Suelizbeth interesting. Favorite Gerard Butler movie: How to Train Your Dragon! 😊 2y
MinDea *Interesting! 2y
ghosthost I meant the younger Kvothe. He‘d be thinner with a bit less stubble though. I like your choice for Kvothe as innkeeper. I was picturing innkeeper Kvothe looking more like Eddie Redmayne. 2y
MinDea @ghosthost I 💗 Eddie Redmayne! 2y
ghosthost @DeborahSmall That‘s exactly what I was picturing for young Kvothe when I looked for a photo - a redhead that looks a bit like Orlando Bloom did when he was younger. 2y
jfalkens I mostly picture him as being very cocky and having a sh*t eating grin from getting away with so much sass. I picture his hair as being very red (almost like the page ends on the anniversary edition) and shaggier, dark eyes, thin with sharp features(from his time between his parents death and university). I do like the pictures everyone linked, they all look amazing! 2y
tonyahoswalt @MinDea @ghosthost I was actually thinking about a young Eddie Redmayne for University Kvothe! 2y
AmyG @MinDea I have a huge crush on Viggo Mortensen. So every adult fantasy book main character, in my mind, looks like him. @tonyahoswalt Yes...that‘s a wonderful young Kvothe....the illustration. (edited) 2y
MinDea @AmyG I told @TricksyTails I pictured Tormund and Aragorn's love child as Kvothe! 😆😆😆 2y
TricksyTails 😂 Does anyone know a whiz at CG? Can we get an image of Tormund and Viggo‘s love child STAT?! 2y
AmyG @MinDea Ha! Tormund/Aragorn. Perfect. 2y
BethM Picture innkeeper Kvothe similar to @MinDea picture although now I can't get the love child out of my head and it will probably be that with more Viggo from now on... 🔥university kvothe I don't have a great shot of but I agree something between @ghosthost and @MinDea . But with a grittier edge. He's a gritty, bad boy in my head. 2y
