Bookwormjillk I don‘t even know where to start! I don‘t think I‘ll ever get sick of reading and re-reading this one. 2w
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk never ever ever. Always and forever my favorite! 2w

PaperbackPirate I wanted to join in on this one but just didn‘t have the time. Maybe later this year! 2w
TieDyeDude I really enjoyed the graphic novel adaptation. I'm not a fan of the artist's style, but it was consistent and the characters were discernable (which isn't always the case in comics with a large cast). The overall focus was more on the Colorado crew, but it never felt rushed or lacking. I would say the biggest miss was Trashy. His story kinda dropped off after he got to Vegas, so his role in the finale felt underdeveloped. 2w
TieDyeDude I has been about 5 years since I read The Stand for the first time. I was surprised at how much came back to me as I was doing this re-read, though I mostly forgot the Vegas finale 🤷‍♂️ Maybe in another 5 years, I'll read the uncut novel 😋 Has anyone done this on audio? (edited) 2w
Bookwormjillk @TieDyeDude yes, I did it on audio this time. It works. 2w
BarkingMadRead @TieDyeDude how can they do that to poor Trashy! He‘s so important! 2w
JessClark78 I‘m only about a hundred pages in, but this is my third or fourth time reading The Stand. I‘m always amazed at how King can write so many characters in one book. 2w
kwmg40 I too am doing a reread, but I only got about a quarter of the way through before having to return it to the library. It's a gripping read but I had way too many books on the go already. I'll resume when I get the book again, and in the meantime, I'm really enjoying this more leisurely read, instead of the frantic page-turning experience last time, trying to find out what happens next. 2w
bekakins I didn‘t manage to do a reread but this is one of my favourite King novels - such great character development in this one! 2w
Roary47 I read this last year and have to say it‘s one of my favorites. 😍 2w

AllDebooks I started The Long Walk in December but bailed as found it troubling and non-festive. 😅 I'll go back to it as I do want to know the outcome. 3w
BarkingMadRead @AllDebooks definitely not festive 🤣 3w

Laughing because this is the bookmark that came up in my mug, it‘s from a romance author at a book con I went to a couple years ago. Not so sure doctor romance could handle Captain Trips 🤣 #losersclub #StephenKing #StephenKingInOrder #KingFromTheBeginning #ConstantReader #ReadAlong #BuddyRead #BookDiscussion

Bookwormjillk It was fun to revisit his earlier stories and see him start to play with some of his longer books and themes. My dad had the version with the eyeball hand on the cover when I was a kid and I always had nightmares about it. Also Children if the Corn was a sleepover favorite so yay for nostalgia. 1mo
AllDebooks I enjoyed this collection. As @Bookwormjillk said, it's fun seeing the formation of his longer works. Children of the corn was so creepy. X 1mo

TieDyeDude I was surprised to see him flirt with sci-fi with I Am the Doorway. He doesn't seem to play in that sandbox too often. I liked the "bad deal" stories, Quitters Inc, The Ledge, Lawnmower Man. Lawnmower, Trucks, and Mangler were pretty silly ? I found Last Rung ? maybe the most memorable. It had an aching sweetness to it, but I seem to like unrequited/unreciprocated love stories for some reason... 1mo
BarkingMadRead @alldebooks children of the corn has always creeped me out! The movie is so messed up! @TieDyeDude yes! Mangler was so silly at the end 🤣 1mo
Balibee146 Oh I love that edition. I didn't pick up Night Shift last month sadly but I do like it as a collection. I really enjoy King short stories 😍 1mo
LoverOfLearning Just recently started reading SK! Long list of books to read 😩 1mo
kwmg40 I enjoyed these stories, especially because, as @Bookwormjillk mentioned, we can see themes that King expands on in future books. Like several of you here, I too found Children of the Corn very creepy. 1mo
Karkar A little late to the party. This is one of my favorite of SK‘s short story collections. So many great ones in this book! 1mo

BarkingMadRead @5feet.of.fury it‘s my favorite book of all time, it‘s so epic! 2mo
kwmg40 I'm not sure if, like @BarkingMadRead, I'd call this my favourite book of all time (though I can certainly appreciate readers making that argument) but it's definitely my favourite of the Stephen King books I've read. I'm looking forward to the reread. 2mo
bekakins Just discovered this readalong! King is my favourite author so would love to join in! I last read the stand during Covid….. Scarrrryyyyyyyy!!! 2mo

Bookwormjillk One of his best I think. I love a haunted hotel. One of these days I'm going to read this and Dr. Sleep back to back. 2mo
Karkar @Bookwormjillk that is a good idea! 2mo

kwmg40 One of my favourites too. I loved the haunted hotel setting. 2mo
AnishaInkspill I really enjoyed reading this one. 2mo
BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk that‘s a really cool idea! 2mo
Bookwormjillk @BarkingMadRead maybe around Father‘s Day 🔪 2mo
TieDyeDude I'm late to the party, but I really enjoyed this. Usually, King really flushes out the community that the book is taking place in, but this has such a narrow scope that the few characters and the hotel itself get much more attention. 2mo
BarkingMadRead @TieDyeDude yes! He usually has soooooo many characters, this was nice to really get to focus on the few involved 2mo

Karkar What always surprises me about this one every time I read it is back when he wrote it school shootings were not a thing. But you would think from this book he wrote it today. 3mo
5feet.of.fury Yeah, that was nuts. I can see why he pulled it after Columbine (and the continued epidemic of school shootings) with the way Charlie is presented in the end/showing the impact on the hostages as positive. 3mo
BookwormAHN @5feet.of.fury That always bothered me too. It was almost cult leaderish. 3mo
5feet.of.fury @BookwormAHN agree! Cult leader is what came into my mind, too. 3mo
