BethM This version was so good! 7d
EadieB @BethM Yes, I liked it too! 7d
LibrarianRyan I love this version. It's the first movie i remember seeing as a child. What book is it based on. 7d

EadieB @LibrarianRyan It‘s based on this book 6d
Butterfinger I adore Patch. 6d
GypsyKat Oh man! I haven‘t seen this since I was a kid! 6d
FantasyChick Awesome! Another one I've never seen. 11pts 6d
Avanders Oooh this is one of my favorites!! 6d
LibrarianRyan @EadieB I went looking. The book is actually based on the movie. The movie came first and was written by David and Leslie Newman with David Newman writing the screenplay. Its the same duo who wrote the movie Superman 2. It looks like they didn't get into writing book books until the 2000's. John Vinge adapted the screenplay. There was also a tie in promotion with McDonald that gave away books in 4 parts. 6d
EadieB @LibrarianRyan The book I tagged was written January 1985 and the movie was released Oct/Nov 1985 6d
LibrarianRyan @EadieB yep. They spent 6 months filming and it had been in production since 1978. It went through a few cast changes, or turn downs. That's cool that the book was released before the movie like that. It's just odd they kept “the movie“ in the title. 6d

EadieB @LibrarianRyan They must have planned to turn the book into a movie. I would think someone would have to write the story before making the movie. 6d
LibrarianRyan @EadieB All very true. Either way it counts.
According to GR the original publication was Oct 1985 and it is a Novelization of the story by the Newman's. It's just one of my fav holiday movies and I was excited to see how the movie changed the original. I will now have to see if I can find a “making of“ this movie. because I would love to know more and IMDB is a little lacking.
6d
EadieB @LibrarianRyan I agree, the info is a little hard to track down. I just went by the dates on the Litsy book and the released date of the movie Nov 1985. I know my daughter has a copy of the book as I read it to her many times. She loved the story too. 6d
LibrarianRyan @EadieB It was so unique at the time. Did you know they wanted Fred Astaire to be the wizened elf who gives Santa his powers. or that they wanted Harrison Ford to play the step uncle. I think we need more Harrison Ford bad guy movies. 6d
EadieB @LibrarianRyan No I didn‘t know that. Thanks for the info. I would have loved to see Astaire and Ford in those parts. 6d

This book was not what I was expecting. It lacked something for me. It was okay, but not the holiday romance I hoped it would be. The best way to explain it is to say, the book was too long and not long enough at the same time, it was almost too many plots going on and one didn‘t quite fit for me. I would give it ❄️❄️❄️/5

ElizaMarie Haven‘t started this one. I was a bit dubious because I‘m not a holiday person or a romance person... but still giving it a try 2w
AsYouWish @ElizaMarie I would definitely give it a try. It wasn‘t bad, just not what I was expecting. I am hoping I like the movie,🤞🏻. But super proud of myself two days into December and have the book done! 2w

AsYouWish @Clwojick It was also a book on my TBR list, if that matters. 2w
AsYouWish @Clwojick (This book was a winter read, a TBR book, and a book to movie adaptation) 7d
Clwojick So with the Impluse, TBR, and HolidayReads, it‘s an either or for the point value. Whichever the highest point value is. So 20 for holiday, 5 for book to movie and 1 for participation 7d
AsYouWish @Clwojick Oh, got it! That makes perfect sense just wanted to make sure the team got all the points we could get! Thank you for checking. 7d

Between my niece and nephew showing up today and an unexpected need to call the plumber in, I'm not nearly getting as much reading done today as I had planned. I'll get a few hours in at bedtime but for now, a creepy movie.
