Just watched this with my children. I suppose it‘s on point with it being Halloween week and all. That said I hate scary movies so this was TERRIBLE for me. They all loved it though. #halloween #scarystories #horror #booktomovieadaptation #help #save e

Well I didn‘t finish the book but I did see the movie today. Apparently I managed to get far enough through it that I stopped just after this movie did. The movie was good. Decent enough move to book adaptation. Anyone else see it? What did you think? #dune #dunemovie #dunebook #booktomovie #booktomovieadaptation #classics

LapReader My partner is so excited to take me to it when it arrives in Australia. He ordered the box set of books so he could finish the series before we see the movie. 3y
EdnaC @LapReader that‘s so fun!! I read the book because my son really liked it. It‘s been fun sharing it. I hope you and your husband enjoy the movie when it comes. :) 3y

One of the best movie adaptations I've seen.

marleed They both played those roles, so well. I‘m not sure if the credit goes to the actors themselves or those who knew to cast them! 4y

I love this movie. I grew up with it, I have directed the play and I own the leg lamp light. It is for sure a classic. And this week I FINALLY read the story it is based on! #AChristmasStory #WinterGames #JingleBallers #ImpulseRead #HolidayRead #BooktoMovieAdaptation

FX showed an original movie A Christmas Carol. It‘s definitely a grim, dark adaptation. But, I really liked the background they created on Scrooge and Marley. Very interesting take on a classic. If you like the original, this is totally worth a watch. Any other Littens watched this version? I‘d love to hear your thoughts. . #WinterGames #JingleBallers #HolidayMovie #BooktoMovieAdaptation #AChristmasCarol

FantasyChick I haven't seen it but I'm definitely going to see if I can find it now! 11pts 5y

MoonWitch94 @LaurensLibrary it‘s so good! Definitely worth seeing. @FantasyChick see if you can get it through BBC 5y
FantasyChick Thanks! Going to take a look. If it's on FX I wonder if they might have it on demand for the holidays too. 5y

FantasyChick Awesome! Another one I've never seen. 11pts 5y
Avanders Oooh this is one of my favorites!! 5y
LibrarianRyan @EadieB I went looking. The book is actually based on the movie. The movie came first and was written by David and Leslie Newman with David Newman writing the screenplay. Its the same duo who wrote the movie Superman 2. It looks like they didn't get into writing book books until the 2000's. John Vinge adapted the screenplay. There was also a tie in promotion with McDonald that gave away books in 4 parts. 5y
EadieB @LibrarianRyan The book I tagged was written January 1985 and the movie was released Oct/Nov 1985 5y
LibrarianRyan @EadieB yep. They spent 6 months filming and it had been in production since 1978. It went through a few cast changes, or turn downs. That's cool that the book was released before the movie like that. It's just odd they kept “the movie“ in the title. 5y

EadieB @LibrarianRyan They must have planned to turn the book into a movie. I would think someone would have to write the story before making the movie. 5y
LibrarianRyan @EadieB All very true. Either way it counts.
According to GR the original publication was Oct 1985 and it is a Novelization of the story by the Newman's. It's just one of my fav holiday movies and I was excited to see how the movie changed the original. I will now have to see if I can find a “making of“ this movie. because I would love to know more and IMDB is a little lacking.
5y
EadieB @LibrarianRyan I agree, the info is a little hard to track down. I just went by the dates on the Litsy book and the released date of the movie Nov 1985. I know my daughter has a copy of the book as I read it to her many times. She loved the story too. 5y
LibrarianRyan @EadieB It was so unique at the time. Did you know they wanted Fred Astaire to be the wizened elf who gives Santa his powers. or that they wanted Harrison Ford to play the step uncle. I think we need more Harrison Ford bad guy movies. 5y
EadieB @LibrarianRyan No I didn‘t know that. Thanks for the info. I would have loved to see Astaire and Ford in those parts. 5y
