Picture on the left was taken from my window to the back yard. 11 or 12 deer have come for dinner!

I made my deep fried fish and my favorite angel food cake (oops, I *might* have eaten a piece before supper😉)
As I was making dinner, my friend Woodina (a female pileated woodpecker) came for her dinner too!!

ljuliel Wow that bird looks really big compared to the ones at our bird feeder. And angel food cake sounds so good. I haven‘t had any in years. I might have to remedy that situation. 5y

Crazeedi @ljuliel that's what's so neat, they are over a foot long, so they command attention, sometimes both of them come, and they overwhelm the feeder! It's very cool. They live in our woods, have been here several years, we dont see them in summer, mostly spring, and winter 5y

TheAromaofBooks Love your pileated!! We hear them in the woods sometimes (and see their holes - I just learned last year that they drill rectangular holes, not round ones??!) but haven't seen them at our feeders. 5y

Crazeedi @TheAromaofBooks they dont come once food is more available in the woods, and yes they are noisy! I saw 3 last year at once, so I think there might be 2 pair that live here. They are just fascinating because they are so big I think 5y
