Many of the recipes sound and look delicious! The author includes personal notes for each recipe, which I really enjoy. This is the first recipe I tried (#mtcookbook success!), but I have it on display, tempting me to try others!

This is the Brown Sugar Almond Pound Cake that I served at Mother‘s Day brunch with macerated berries and whipped yogurt.

mabell Side note - I think I‘m going to try to find a new bundt pan, as mine is dark “non-stick”, and the long baking time for pound cakes really browns the crust 6mo
Tamra What a beauty! 😍 6mo
mabell @Tamra Thank you! It‘s a fabulous recipe! And it keeps well 😊 6mo

It‘s so interesting to read how Ansel came up with his recipes and how he looks at the world through the eyes of a baker. It‘s intense to see some of the advanced recipes take 3 pages of prep, baking, and assembly over many days. However you cannot rush perfection. It gives you time to learn and grow as a baker and get the difficult techniques down. I cannot wait to start baking!

Dilara Oh yes, I have this book and it is intense. I am keeping it for when I am retired and I have the time 😂 9mo
KaylasReadingNook @Dilara The intermediate and expert lessons definitely require a ton of time and dedication 😂 My husband said it wouldn‘t be so bad. I told him about the marshmallow chick in the egg and that it used a real eggshell and he thought it was an expert lesson. When I told him it was a beginner lesson he paled 😅 8mo
Dilara @KaylasReadingNook That's funny 😂. Have you made anything from the book yet? (I haven't) 8mo
KaylasReadingNook @Dilara I haven‘t yet myself but I am planning to this summer. Trying the early recipes and building up to the more extreme 😄 8mo

Cake is fine, but I believe pie is happiness, connection, and love. So this year, I will strive to include all the pies I encounter, in real life and in literature 🔥

First Pie January 1, 2024: Sugar Cream Pie aka Hoosier Pie. It is very good.

Wishing you all much pie, fabulous pie connections, and world peace ☮️

AnnR Yum! 10mo

tpixie That looks delicious! I made a chess pie for bookclub a few months ago- it tasted good but not as beautiful as yours- your pie & crust is beautiful!! 🤩 10mo
BkClubCare @tpixie - aw, thanks! I only can say that I do a LOT of practice, but I feel I still have much to learn and perfect yet. Point is that pie always tastes good pretty or not! Usually 10mo
tpixie @BkClubCare yes! And what a fun thing to practice with! Snap! Now I have to eat a piece of pie! 🥧 10mo

Baking is a #holidaytradition for me and so far I‘ve made (pictured) Cranberry Pistachio Orange Shortbread cookies, Cinnamon Rolls, Peppermint Bark, and Chocolate S‘mores Cookies. I‘ve also made 2 batches of fudge and Pear Bread. I like to share with neighbors, coworkers, and friends! #wintergames #restinggrinchface .

Pageturner1 Pear bread? never heard of it. 10mo
CaitlinR Looks so yummy! 10mo
Julsmarshall @Pageturner1 It is like banana bread, but maybe better? https://smittenkitchen.com/2009/12/pear-bread/ 10mo

RedxoHearts Oh those cinnamon rolls look so good. I used to love them until I randomly developed a bit of an allergy to cinnamon. So I rarely eat it now but those may be worth it. Lol I saw a recipe for red velvet cinnamon rolls that I may have to try one day 10mo
