The historical aspect of pigeons being used by the Brits during WWII was quite interesting to read about. From that perspective, I really enjoyed this work of #historicalfiction. What I didn't enjoy was the sappy, predictable #instalove story that served as the framework for the novel. Overall a pick, as the book is well-written and a quick, easy read. #WWII #romance #birds #pigeons #secretmission #onceuponabookclub

Well we saw the movie today. I‘ve read the book and Mr. B hasn‘t. We both agreed that the movie was only so-so. Should have waited for it to come to Redbox. Oh well.

But if you haven‘t read the book, it‘s a fun one!

Lmstraubie I've heard the same report from just about everyone I know who read the book then saw the movie. 2y
GirlMeetsBook The movie definitely took a lot of liberties, but I LOVED the library aspect. I just imagine that could be the future of libraries/museums some day and that‘s kind of exciting to me. 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Lmstraubie Me too. Even so, I was hoping I‘d like the movie more. 2y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @GirlMeetsBook It‘s a cool idea, although I don‘t really want books to be replaced with video. 2y
GirlMeetsBook @BarbaraTheBibliophage But they weren‘t at all! There were just vaults if recorded times in history which are more accurate than any written document ever is because written experiences are subject to bias. Recorded history contains all the context and truth that can be left out of first hand accounts. 2y
Jenny Agreed. Book was way better. 2y
britt_brooke I was so-so on the book, but thought it would make an awesome movie. It‘s too bad that‘s not the case. I‘ll be skipping it. 2y
merelybookish My son and his English class went to see this today. They read the book back in the fall. He said it was a decent action movie but different from the book. 2y
LibrarianRyan I think the thing that annoyed me most was the romance in the movie. My friend who also saw it said it was the same in the book and I was like NOOOO. Sam wasn't interested in the book or ready. Plus they didn't meet in person until almost the end. Ache was the character That Wade needed and Asch was pushed to the back burner. 😖 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @LibrarianRyan Yes, I agree! They made it so focused on #squadgoals and #instalove instead of on Z. 2y

Day 10: Insta vs. Love Triangle #febinbooks18
I think that it totally depends on the story whether insta love and love triangles work. These two books are great examples of both that I like! Which do you prefer?

Day 10 of #febinbooks18 is #instalove vs. #lovetriangle. I tried to think of a book I own or liked that had instalove and couldn't think of anything, could be that I tend to hate it. I don't tend to be as bothered by love triangles, as long as they're well-written and make sense so they win.

I have really enjoyed this book! I loved the way that Andy Weir wrote this book as it managed to combine both humor and drama all into one book! I especially loved Mark Watney's character as he was humorous in an intense situation. I also loved the space setting of this book.

This book was awesome! I just loved the magical world of Caraval and I also loved the relationships between the characters, especially between Scarlett and Julian! I also loved the fact that this book explores the relationship between sisters since I've rarely read young adult books that deals with family!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 stars !!!

Such a creepy yet magical book! I just loved the way that Neil Gaiman wrote this book as all the characters, mainly Lettie were extremely creative!
