Karisa Yep, we had our letter! I love how it made Annabel a bit more flawed/tragic, but also it was the best that letter never got to Adam. She took that not being responded to as a chance to move on. Definitely gothic elements. 6mo

I dunno, I guess it fits with the times that it's a good thing, but I feel bad for the time they lost and the suffering. But then Annabel obviously would never have been happy if they had run off. 6mo

Deblovestoread Definitely the same atmospheric feel as Jane Eyre, which I love. The letter was best lost to have a better future. 6mo

#Pemberlittens #JaneAdjacent Ch.6: how interesting to read how a murder investigation was conducted back in the 1800s! I love how both Jonathan and Juliet are eager to find out more despite what propriety dictates. I think they‘ll probably be better at it than Churchill.

julieclair I liked how Jonathan and Juliet each came to the decision to eavesdrop independently. Neither influenced the other. But they both seemed happy to become “partners in impropriety.” 😏 8mo

I feel like I should apologize for not enjoying this book more!

There were lots of great, fun ideas and scenes but the book fluctuates from a weird script format to regular fiction text and it really doesn't work when you're listening to it on audio. Maybe it made sense visually but I couldn't figure out why random scenes were being described like a play all of a sudden!
