Recently found this hidden gem - a waterfall in one of the local parks in Raleigh! It used to be a working mill and it‘s now a cute little spot to take in some natural beauty.

So good! Mirror Lake, NC is experiencing a drought that is drying up the lake, uncovering buried secrets. Hazel returns to town for her father‘s funeral, and is surprised to learn that she is the sole inheritor of her dad‘s house, which her brothers aren‘t happy about. Soon family secrets start to unravel.

The one good thing about being sick is more reading time. Not a great work, but it had its moments. Alice the pig might be my favorite character. But you knew from the beginning who would come to a bad end and who would end up happy, so don‘t read it if you need plots to have twists.
Finished books 1 & 2 in the Seaside Cafe Mystery series. Both are on my #readyourebooks list and book 1 is my August #DoubleSpin book.
The NC coast setting adds to its charm for me.
I‘ve been a fan of Miranda‘s for years & am excited to have two of her books to read this month! Here, Hazel returns to Mirror Lake, NC for her father‘s memorial service & the surprising revelation that she is the sole inheritor of his house, leaving nothing to either of his sons. Uneasy & unsettled by the house itself, Hazel starts poking at the past as a drought brings up its own watery secrets. Engaging & fast-paced, I couldn‘t put this down!
This plot line was really good, for me there were too many side characters and names thrown so I had to concentrate 😅
