Ramen for Everyone | Patricia Tanumihardja

This book is cute and introduces the idea of personal preferences for ramen toppings, but I'm not sure I fully understand what happens in the story. Either the author thought it was obvious or the editor trimmed too much detail. It was nominated for the 2025 Washington Children's Choice Award, so someone loves it.

I loved this much as Noodles, Rice, and Everything Spice: A Thai Comic Cookbook. We need more books like this! The illustrations are cute; everything is educational, cultural, and fun! Ramen is loved all over the world; it is a big bowl of comfort. This book really makes you appreciate just how much goes into making the perfect bowl. It is a labor of love! Here you will learn how to find and identify Ramen Yas (bars/houses), how to order it⬇️

JenniferEgnor when you get there, what to say, and what not to do. The whole bowl is broken down and you learn how to make ramen step by step, authentically. The only complaint I have is that Narutomaki 🍥 are pictured but never mentioned. That‘s my favorite ramen condiment! LOVE this book. 3w

I adore these authors' comic-book cookbooks! I already have their book on making dumplings and borrowed this from the library to try a few recipes. I made ramen eggs, pickled shiitake mushrooms and marinated bamboo shoots and they all tasted great in my ramen bowl!

kwmg40 @Tamra Even if you don\'t get around to trying the recipes, it\'s definitely a fun book to read! I love all the extra historical and geographical context that the authors provide. 4mo
kwmg40 @Bookwormjillk I think this book and the one on dumplings make excellent gifts, and maybe you\'ll be the lucky recipient of your son\'s culinary efforts! 4mo
kwmg40 @PuddleJumper I wish there were more comic-style cookbooks like this one! 4mo

Another true story that my students loved. I don't think they will ever forget what inspired Momofuku Ando to invent instant ramen. It took 10 years and he never gave up! He believed that world peace could be reached by filling stomachs. I know instant ramen is not the healthiest food, but I have a new appreciation for it after reading this. #kidlit #readoutloud #everybodybooks

MySharonaK Sounds so lovely! What ages would you say the book is for? 4y
TEArificbooks My son asked me who invented Cup O Noodle and we watched a documentary on YouTube about it. I want to go the museum in Japan sometime, you can make your own cup of ramen. You get to pick the seasoning, veggies, meat, etc that goes in your cup. 4y
mandarchy @MySharonaK I read it to Kindergarten through 5th grade. It's an everybody book. The reading level is AR 3.3 or lexile 600 4y

mandarchy @mdm139 I think there are 2 museums in Japan. I saw the YouTube videos too. If I had more time with the students I would have shared, but I sent them the links. I think they all went home and ate ramen. 4y
MySharonaK @mandarchy ah wonderful thank you! 😍 4y
ShelleyBooksie @DinoMom - we will have to check this book out.for our kiddos! 4y
mandarchy @ShelleyBooksie and @DinoMom make sure to have some ramen on hand, you will get hungry. 4y
DinoMom @mandarchy in this house there is always ramen! My 5 year old is ramen obsessed 🍜 ❤️ 4y
mandarchy @DinoMom in that case, did you see that Target has Ramen shirts? I'm not sure they have his size. They had them in the young men's section. I was there yesterday stupidly Easter shopping. 🐣 my son only eats macaroni. 4y

This Biography is such a fun and interesting one, “Magic Ramen, The story of Momofuku Ando” written by Andrea Wang & illustrated by Kana Urbanowicz. Its a very cute piece about the story of ramen and why Momofuku created cheap single use ramen, its a must read! It would be great to be used as a read aloud to discuss innovative ways to fix a problem.

Brennap This link is a great teachers guide to use, it includes question to ask throughout the book, an activity after the book, and even a science experiment. This resource supports the UDL Principle (5.2) “Use multiple tools for construction and composition” & the ESOL Strategy 28. “Provide biographies of significant men and women from different countries.” Overall its a great book for inclusion and discussing innovation. 5y
KatiaP This looks like a very interesting take on a biography. Love the art from the book. Awesome link for the questions! It is always good to help prepare for the reading! 5y
DrSpalding I am adding this book to my stack! Hilarious! So many of us have lived on Ramen noodles. 5y
